Heads up PayPal is changing ToS again
And they are getting even more strict when it comes to not using invoices for charging for Digital Goods.
Whatever Invoices make you uncomfortable or not, you gotta start using them if you want to keep your PayPal and your money. Changes starting this October 19th.
Honestly I don’t get why so many artists are so overwhelmed by invoices, takes just a few clicks to set up.
And is not only “oh you have to use invoices because PayPal says so” if you don’t use invoices you’re putting yourself at risk of being scammed by an user abusing the buyer’s protection.
Since PayPal ain’t got no idea of what those $50 you received were for, but the buyer is saying they didn’t got anything for the money, PayPal will just side with the buyer.
I’m seriously begging ppl, start using invoices. I’m tired of seeing ppl complain their paypal was banned, or is under investigation, or worse, the $100 they got for a very complicated commission, 3 months later get a refund issue.
just
start
using
invoices
for your own sake.
Here is how you use invoices because I can’t keep playing devil’d advocate, yes I would love to help you get your PayPal restored but just this last month I had to help three persons, and they were MORE than aware of this issues.
Just protect yourself.
Step 1. You login and click here
Step 2. You click create new Invoice. YOU NEVER CLICK REQUEST MONEY, unless you want to risk yourself to get scamer by buyer’s protection exploit and not only lose your money but your paypal account, and any future paypal linked to your irl name.
Step 3 You follow this steps
1. Invoice for amount only
2. Ask your client for their PayPal email and put in that field
3. Add a vague description of what you’re doing, something like “Character Coloured with Background” is good enough, and if you need more than 1 character you can type in “2″ where it says amount, or just say “2 characters”.
Warning: don’t type in “Naruto rawing Sasuke”. That will get you banned.
4. Click send.
Optional steps. Create a template, doesn’t take more than 10 minutes and it will save you a lot of time for future invoices, you can even click on “items” right next to “create invoice” and add a list of services you offer such as “character sketch” “character flats” along with a price, so next time you invoice you just add to the invoice from your list of items and you saved yourself some more time.
More importantly, you protect yourself from buyer’s protection exploit because if PayPal knows you’re doing digital goods, then you will be allowed that you did in fact created a digital good.
Keep PayPal happy, as for right now there are no alternatives to this service, and this is the only source of income for many freelancers.
Stay safe.

Some days ago, going through Facebook a usual, I got to see one of my last drawings which was posted in a fan page of Deep-Sea Prisoner (Funamusea) which shares drawing of many different artists, from Tumblr, Pixiv, etc; giving credits of course. It wasn’t the first time they share some of my works and I like it because then more people have the chance to know about me. The point is that I felt really uncomfortable with a comment a person left about my drawing.
I have gotten some critiques (even insults) in the past for different reasons and any of then have affected me, any. But that day that single comment made me so sad, not because they said it was easy to copy Funamusea’s style, but because they said it was easy to copy a style when you don’t have your own. That depressed me to thought of stopping drawing in their style. I had insecurities and I was afraid that many things I have organized would be taking down because of my mood. Not only for the giveaway I posted few days ago, but for the project I have with Maria and other friends, Taekni’s fall.
For all who follow me, you know I usually don’t post much on my blog and when I do is for posting some stuff and then I disappear. I never stopped by for a moment to explain how I am but I should say this is normal in me. It has always been hard for me to be open to other people, to try to interact and find a way to belong in a group and nowadays it is still difficult for me. Little by little I’m trying to get used to it and I’m trying to post as I feel to. Anyway I try to draw more often, in my style or in Funamusea’s.
I love drawing in their style and I enjoy so much doing it. And if I it’s because I absolutely love all their works and because I admire them as an artist. They’re my favorite artist, that’s pretty obvious and I’m not trying to prove anything, neither trying to “steal” or “copy” their style. I would NEVER compare myself to them and at the same time I would never compare myself with other artists. Yes, I admit I imitate really well Funamusea’s style but it’s not exactly the same. It’s okay to experience and try new styles, but imitating any kind of style doesn’t mean I don’t have my own.
I appreciate those people from the bottom of my heart, who where there to support me that moment and gave their own opinion.

wait what happened why are you angry
This is public because I want pyokeke/ pyoblog to hear me loud and clear.
The original Pyokeke was a Japanese based artist who was making an RPG Maker game called The Solar Emissary (forgive me, I didn’t tag the game as well as I could have), a game about a Moon Rabbit & her adventures trying to save the solar system. All of his characters for the game were based off of planets & while Pyokeke did the “only draw six faces” thing, all of the characters designs were fun, & full of life, and I could tell what planet or solar body each was based off of. He planned on making more comics too (I didn’t read up on those as much as I did the Solar Emissary, sorry!), but I couldn’t tell you about those.
This was the original pyokeke’s avatar:
This is some of the barest explanation I can find of their game (because google hasn’t updated their stuff to tumblr I suppose)
It has the basic story structure of “Go on a quest and collect/repair the macguffin,” but so many stories have that that it’s not a cliche but an archetype. He had some really cute characters, some cute art in general, and a love of birds (which he would post on his regular blog, pyoblog!).
Pyokeke even drew me 2 pictures to make up for replying late to questions! AND I WAS MESSAGING HIM THAT HE DIDN’T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MOGEKO AND THAT HIS STYLE WASN’T THE SAME AS MOGEKO’S
His first picture was part of my last theme.
About two weeks ago (right as I got my ulcer), he sent me a message along the lines of “Can I ask you a question about my characters, sorry if it’s a bother” which I gladly said yes to. He then sent me this message (please forgive me for showing off spoilers of your character pyokeke, but you don’t have any more art of Jupiter up and I’m trying to defend you I hope you understand):
He was concerned that his character Jupiter looked too similar to one of Mogeko’s designs. He even cited fandom drama that happened:
they were actually scared of this situation happening.
I re-assured that the Dolls of Rozenheim incident happened because someone traced DoR’s stuff, and that the Ib drama was because we had several dicks who posted draw child pornography without tagging it. I told him what I thought: it was a lovely design he put a lot of thought into, and that I honestly can’t name any Mogeko characters off the top of my head that resembled his.
This was his last message to me.
You can find the art here!
Anyways, a few days later someone asked me about Pyokeke (same link as above). I told them I didn’t know where they were, and I was very worried about them. They seemed to have totally purged themselves off the internet. Yesterday (aug 14), a blog called pyokeke followed me, but with a Sal icon.
Whoever is behind pyokeke & pyoblog must of bullied pyokeke off of tumblr (and as a side effect, probably the entire internet). They are condescendingly comparing Mogeko’s art and characters to Pyokeke, and are basically rubbing in the fact they took the two urls and chased them off the net with their terrible attitude (I should of saved them if I knew this was going to happen).
I’m devastated: I told him the fandom was safe, the fandom was good. I still stand by this notion, but we have one terrible terrible person who decided that the integrity of Mogeko’s own personal style was so important that they had to mock & belittle the original Pyokeke over it. Whether or not you think the two artist are similar, they are not similar enough for this kind of behavior. I see no harm in two artist having a similar style to each other, as no style belongs to one person (oohh two artist have similar styles whoopde fucking do there’s only so many ways to stylize art guh i’m too upset to find examples of stuff).
There’s enough room for the fun saturated colors & angles of Pyokeke, and the more desaturated, rounder, & flowing style of Mogeko. We could of have both of their ideas exist in the same space at the same time. Pyokeke wasn’t even taking any of Mogeko’s stoy concepts, he wasn’t inspired by Mogeko at all. Pyokeke had totally different ideas that didn’t even include the triggering content of mogeko’s work! His game could of been a cute game straight up, no mogekoing around. But no, because of the actions of one (or possibly more!) person/people, we lost a great artist with a sweet personality. Whoever owns the pyo-urls now loves mogeko SO MUCH that it blinded them to do this. Pyokeke was NOT tracing. Pyokeke was NOT stealing. His art style may be reminiscent of mogeko, but honestly, I think whoever designs these figurines is closer. Pyokeke did not deserved to be called out and insulted over this.
Pyokeke is gone. This isn’t a victory whoever has the pyokeke & pyoblog url, this is a loss.
Please do not follow the current owner of the pyo-urls. They are terrible, and should be ignored.

A pair of OCs that will also appear in our fangame Taekni’s fall. Both of them are dragons. The first one is Rowan that means “tree with red berries” in Irish and he’s a nature dragon. The second one is Rumi, a rock dragoness. Her name means “stone“ in Quechua, a native language from my country.
