Once we get through today's rain, we have an absolutely beautiful week ahead, with temperatures in the high sixties and seventies all week, and lots of sunshine! It's a good time to help out around town, or get in that last minute yard work, or start decorating for the season! Don't forget to hop on the busy Friday night to cheer on the Merrock Rangers for their second game.

FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

The Merrock Rangers are prepped and ready to go for another year of high school football! As usual, there are ten regular season games, and they will be held on the following dates:

September 5th -- HOME

September 12th -- AWAY

September 19th -- HOME

September 26th -- HOME

October 3rd -- AWAY

October 10th -- AWAY

October 17th -- AWAY

October 24th -- HOME

October 31st -- AWAY

November 7th -- HOME

Games are played at the high school football stadium. For away games, there will be buses that are happy to pick up anyone who wishes to attend at the stadium, and drop them off after. Enjoy the season, and best of luck!

Come to Merrock State Park today to celebrate wildlife day! Starting at 4PM, there will be a special children's program, where kids can learn about all of the local wildlife in Merrock. After, at 5PM, adults and kids alike are invited on a nature walk around the park, where you'll hopefully get the chance to see some of that wildlife up close, and even be able to take a few pictures!

Up and at 'em, kiddos! It's back to school. The elementary, middle and high schools are once again open for the school season, with all students expected to report to class today. The buses are running right on time, schedules have been sent out, and everything is back in motion. This also means that summer programs at the state park have shifted to after school, and Harmony Healers after school program is open, as well. Good luck, kids!

It's the last day before school is back in session, and also a good chance to see your friends and family for one last summer day! (Sort of.) The pavilion at Aster Playground has been set up for an afternoon picnic for anyone who wants to attend. Bring the kids, pets are welcome, and most importantly, bring one covered dish. The Benefactor is supplying meats for the event -- hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken for grilling. You'll have lots of opportunity for your favorite foods.

And just like that, August is coming to an end! As we head into September with dreams of fall and cooler days, make the most of the warmer temperatures that are still lingering! This week, we have a Labor Day picnic on Monday in the park, followed by the kids heading back to school on Tuesday, a fun Wildlife Day activity, and then football season kicks off on Friday night! Take your poncho and your umbrella!
