okay, but dr. jack abbot who went into family medicine instead of emergency. 🫣 in small town, usa. [[kinda dark jack?]]

on his time off, he holds free clinics in rural areas that do not have reliable access to healthcare. he also volunteers his time to give out flu shots and offer free check ups at nearby women's shelters. literally, the man doesn't stop.

but what happens when his receptionist retires and jack puts her in charge of hiring and training her replacement? what happens when she hires you. a young, fresh face, straight out of grad school and needing some experience. your field is competitive and you can't find work right away, so you land here- in jack's lap, practically. and he's thankful.

ngl jack's heart leaps when he first meets you. you're a bit shy, clearly not aware of how beautiful you are. you're perfect. just what an older man like him needs. someone to keep him young. someone to keep his bed warm at night.

His old receptionist’s last day is your first, so she teaches you the ropes. its pretty easy, just a few phone calls, some paperwork and files, and contacting insurance companies. plus, jack's office is slow being that its a private practice and he's the only doctor there.

its takes a few weeks, but you and jack get comfortable with one another. comfortable enough that jack insists on taking you out for lunch everyday, you can leave your pre-made lunches at home. no need to spend the extra money when he can feed you himself.

soon enough the man is dropping you off after work and picking you up in the morning. how can you say no to your boss? he's just so kind! sometimes he even picks you up a little early to go get breakfast at the local diner. he pays of course and refuses gas money. he actually gets a little mad when you even suggest paying him for anything.

what do you mean you need to pay him back? take it out of your paycheck? absolutely not! but if you are so eager to pay him back...he's sure you two can work something out....

hearing him say that you were his favorite made your cheeks warm, but you didn't look too much into it romantically

you were a quiet person and you spent most of your time working or sleeping. there wasn't much time to socialize and find a partner, so you did not have much experience in that department

abbot, however, felt confident that he planted the seed. gave you the inkling that there might be some desire there.

jack knew you had been starved of affection. it took him awhile to get you used to the gentle touches that came with showing you how to complete an operation.

you used to jump a bit when you felt him touch small of your back or move you around him by grabbing at your upper arms. but now, you've gotten used to feeling jack. if anything, it soothed you.

jack stayed closer to you than any other resident. jack felt this inner pull to guide you and make sure you were safe. a silent protector.

on the night of a mass accident, it was clear you were a bit nervous about the incoming patients. after dr. shen and him gave a pep talk and instructions, he grabbed you and made sure you were by his side.

he needed to know you were okay and that you were safe.

after the beds started to empty and patients went upstairs, he forced you to sit down and take a few bites of a chewy bar and some sips of water.

he could tell you were in a daze of sorts, could practically feel that your heartbeat wasn't slowing down, so he took control. he took your hand and guided you to the elevators and upstairs to the roof.

he brought you to the railing and held your face in his hands. you were staring ahead to his chest, lost, and eyes teary. the overflow of emotions was just about to break.

he brought you into him, your cheek on his chest, you could smell his cologne and musk, it grounded you. jack was the only thing anchoring you to reality in that moment. you could feel his hand holding your head to his chest, his thumb caressing your hair.

you felt a feather light kiss to your scalp. you snuggled closer into him and let the tears run down, sobs coming out here and there.

he held you until you shed your final tear.

you pulled away, but he held your face again and forced you to look up at him.

you could feel his hazel eyes analyzing your features, taking you in. it was like he could see right through you.

jack felt like a safety net that kept appearing for you again and again, always finding you when you needed it.

"you did your best today. you should be so damn proud of yourself, okay? im so proud of you." he kissed your forehead and you felt a swell of something in your chest.

"i'll always be here for you. you don't have to worry. you never have to be scared. not when im around."

hearing those words melted you. you sunk back into his chest and he held you close, arms wrapped around you, gently rocking you.

the fresh air felt cool against the warmth of his chest.

for the first time in what felt like forever, you let yourself breathe, let yourself give into jack.

you've never been with a man like jack abbot before. this man memorizes you.

so many guys don't take the time to learn every little thing about their partner, but that's not jack. jack wants to know everything- what your favorite drinks are, your favorite meals, your daily patterns, how you bite on your bottom lip when you're stressed, the perfume you wear, your skincare routine, how often you get takeout and where from, and what books you've read and want to read, and where you grew up and what your relationship with your family is like and if you wanna get married someday and- everything.

ngl... jack is totally the type to stalk the woman he has a crush on. not hardcore stalk, but the silent staring type. he keeps an eye on you. he's stealthy. he needs to get intel on you before he can pounce.

he's the type to take you out for a meal and somehow gets you to verbalize the deepest parts of your psyche. like wtf- this man just wants to figure you out. you're a puzzle to him that he needs to understand. thats his love language- even if you two aren't dating yet. well.... you two have been dating in his head for a long time.

his therapist says he has a control problem and trust issues. that he needs to figure you out in order to feel in control, to feel stable and comfortable before he asks you out on a proper date. yes- he will take you out, wine and dine you, give you little presents, flowers, the works- whatever you want! bc to him its just a little song and dance. he was ready to marry you when he asked you out. he just needs to be patient and get you on the same page.

similar to jack, robby is very observant of his surroundings. he notices when others look at you with hungry eyes.

when robby is jealous he isn't going to makeout with you in front of others or be all overly handsy to show you're his. his jealousy festers for a second, but turns into insecurity.

robby is more insecure than he lets on, especially when it comes to you and your relationship.

he knows you love him, but he doesn't feel like he deserves it. he doesn't feel like he's attractive enough, good enough, smart enough to be with you.

when other guys look at you it brings up those feelings of insecurity and inadequacy. he thinks about how those guys would probably be able to give you more than he ever could.

robby goes inside of himself in those moments. he gets lost in those thoughts, tends to fade away from you a bit.

you may not notice other guys looking at you, but you always notice the minute robby is upset. he wears his heart on his sleeve- its almost too obvious.

the first time it happened, you had to coax him into talking. it took a bit of time for robby to open up about how he was truly feeling. it took time for him to understand it himself.

he felt embarrassed to even admit he lets those thoughts drown him in self doubt. it took a gentle heart-to-heart to get him to talk, which gave you the chance to help him heal these deep wounds.

the demise of all of his past relationships slowly chipped away at robby's self esteem. now- he was older, going gray, with some extra weight, and was perpetually tired. he was an old man.

why would anyone like you want to be with him? aren't you going to wake up one day and realize you deserve something better? a guy your own age, who takes care of himself and can give you every little thing you want?

lets just say he was shocked to hear your response.

you gave him a speech all about how much you love him and how he is everything you are looking for. you gave him as much reassurance and confirmation of your love as you could possibly muster into words. the moment turned into you two holding each other and crying. it was an emotional release for the both of you, one that brought you two closer.

now when guys look at you, robby's arms wraps around you. he can feel that little voice in his head trying to peak out, telling him all of the terrible things you've assured him are not true. the voices don't have a chance to get to him before you smile up at him and trace kisses along his jawline. you love him.

each time this happens, robby shows more and more outward affection. it takes time before it becomes instinctual. he stakes his claim on you, shows everyone that you are his. most of all, he shows himself that he deserves you and your love, and he will hold onto it as long as you let him.
