HIII omg i love your writings!! got this idea while i was in the bathroom blasting alchemy by taylor swift and you were the first writer i thought of that i know would slay this! Reader is a known singer but she doesnt really write love songs which charles is completely fine about. His friends ask and tease him about it and he brushes it off then one night on one of her tours she sings alchemy for the first time while charles is watching from the crowd. Charles liked to think he had you figured out.

At least, the version of you the world didn’t get to see — the quiet one, the tired one after long studio nights, the version that wore his hoodie to bed and snuck kisses onto his shoulder when you thought he was sleeping.

He liked being the silent inspiration, the person behind the curtain. You were his in private — that was more than enough.

"She doesn't write love songs."

That was the line Charles Leclerc had come to know and love. He’d heard it in interviews, read it in headlines, and smiled through every late-night talk show where someone inevitably asked, “So, do you really not write about him?”

The camera would zoom in, the crowd would laugh, and you’d flash that sly little grin. “Don't worry, if I wrote a love song,” you always said, “you’d know it.”

Charles didn’t mind. In fact, he was fine with it.

You were his.

Even if the rest of the world liked to think you belonged to them.

The fans, the cameras, the interviews — they all wanted pieces. But Charles had long made peace with being the part no one else got to hear in the songs.

Because you didn’t write love songs.

Everyone said so.

You said so.

And Charles believed it. Until the night you didn’t.

“You still haven’t written a song about me,” Charles teased from the couch, bare feet on the floor, one arm lazily slung around your waist. His eyes were half-lidded, lips curled into that soft smile he only gave you when the world was quiet.

You rolled your eyes, brushing your fingers through his curls. “You say that like you’re not already in every other one.”

“Yes, but I want the main character treatment,” he said, dramatically pressing a hand to his chest. “The standing ovation. The bridge that emotionally ruins people.”

You just laughed, kissed his cheek, and said, “Maybe when you win Monaco.”

He groaned. “Cruel woman.”

He hadn't told you he was coming.

You were in the middle of a sold-out run through Europe, and Charles was drowning in simulator sessions and car debriefs. But when he saw the gap in his schedule, he booked the ticket quietly, packed light, and told his engineers he was leaving for “something more important than tyre degradation.”

Barcelona was a quick flight from Monaco. Your show there had been sold out for months, and he knew better than to try and sneak in through backstage. So he did what no one expected:

He lined up like everyone else.

He didn’t tell you. You were always happiest on stage, and he wanted to be just another face in the crowd that night. Just a quiet, anonymous dot in a sea of lights and sweat and noise.

Hood up, cap low, a simple black tee that did nothing to hide how gorgeous he was. He bought a pit wristband from resale (triple the price, but whatever), pushed into the crowd, and waited.

His heart beat harder the closer it got to showtime.

He didn’t know why. He’d seen you perform dozens of times. Hell, he’d watched you rehearse in sweats with a tea bag hanging out of your mouth. He lived with you.

But something about tonight buzzed different.

The lights dimmed.

The crowd erupted.

And then you appeared.

...

You always had a certain way of standing still — calm, rooted, like you didn’t need fireworks to be the most magnetic person in the room. Charles felt the shift the second you stepped up to the mic.

“This one’s new,” you said softly.

The crowd stilled.

“I wasn’t planning to play it live yet, but…”

You paused, and smiled.

“He’s here tonight.”

The girls around Charles screamed.

He went still.

No.

You’re not—

The opening chords were simple, soft. A rhythmic pulse like a heartbeat.

"Shirts off, and your friends lift you up over their heads, Champagne sticking to the floor"

The lyrics felt so close, so personal, Charles swore you were staring right at him, even though you couldn’t see him through the crowd.

"Cheers chanted, cause they said, There was no chance, trying to be The greatest in the league"

And then.

Then.

“Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me.”

Charles’s knees nearly buckled.

The lyric struck him like a punch to the gut.

He didn’t even breathe for a second — chest tight, hands shaking, mouth parted in stunned silence.

You remembered.

Monaco.

That day.

The crowd, the flags, the win — his first home win. The one he had chased like a ghost for years.

He remembered the noise, the champagne, the cameras flashing. But more than anything, he remembered you, standing behind the barrier, tucked to the side — quiet and glowing and waiting.

He hadn’t even thought.

He just ran.

Straight to you. Through the crowd. Past everyone. Helmet barely off.

You caught him in your arms like you’d been waiting there your whole life.

“Where’s the trophy?” the reporter had asked him after.

And he’d smiled before glancing over at you.

By the time you hit the final chorus, Charles had completely given up pretending he was okay.

His eyes were glassy. His cheeks were damp.

A teenage girl next to him elbowed her friend and whispered, “That guy is, like, sobbing.”

He didn’t even notice.

When you sang the last line and let the guitar fall quiet, Charles couldn’t move.

The stadium exploded in sound.

You bowed.

The lights went out.

And he just stood there — one hand pressed over his heart, whispering the lyric under his breath like a prayer.

Backstage, everything felt like static.

You were mid-change when a tech knocked on the greenroom door.

“Uh… sorry, there’s a guy trying to come back here. He says he’s your boyfriend? Hoodie, cap, extremely beautiful—kind of panicked?”

You laughed, heart already racing.

“Let him in.”

Charles barrelled into the room like a man possessed.

“You—” he said, voice raw.

You turned, makeup still smudged, hair frizzing from sweat, and barely had time to open your arms before he was there — pulling you into him like he hadn’t seen you in years.

“Monaco?” he whispered.

You nodded against his chest.

He pulled back just slightly, hands cupping your face, eyes red-rimmed and earnest. “You remembered.”

“Of course I did.”

“You wrote about it.”

A breathless laugh. “You wrote about me.”

You shrugged playfully, nose brushing his. “Guess you’re the main character now.”

His grin cracked wide and helpless, and then he kissed you. Soft, slow, deep — the kind of kiss that says thank you and I love you and I’m never letting this go.

“You’re screwed now,” he whispered, grinning against your mouth.

“Why?”

“Because I’m going to brag about this forever.”

And he did.

The next morning:

And for the rest of the season, no matter how many podiums he earned, Charles had one answer to every post-race interview:

“Where’s the trophy, Charles?”

“She’s probably watching from home.”

The Mediterranean sun rose high over the glittering bay of Monaco, casting a thousand diamonds across the rolling waves. It was the kind of day that felt almost suspended in time, a rare lull between the stormy chaos of an F1 season and the gentle hush of winter creeping closer.

Inside the Leclerc penthouse, the world felt wrapped in a soft cocoon of peace. Light streamed through the panoramic windows, illuminating gleaming marble floors and pale linen curtains that swayed gently in the sea breeze. The muffled hum of distant traffic and gulls wheeling overhead was the only sound that hinted at life beyond their private haven.

On the plush cream sectional sofa, Amy lay sprawled on the couch, her small body curled into a cozy ball against the mountain of fluffy pillows Charles and Y/N always stacked around her so she wouldn’t roll off. The glow from the TV bathed her face in shifting colors as a cheerful cartoon song filled the room. Her curls were a tangle of brown ringlets, half hiding her eyes as she pointed her little finger excitedly at the screen.

“Leo! Leo! Cat say meowww!” she squealed, her tiny voice echoing around the living room.

Leo, stretched across the couch beside her, lifted his big golden head, gave her a solemn blink, and let out a soft woof—as if confirming that yes, indeed, the cat did say meow. He lowered his chin back to Amy’s lap and wagged his tail in lazy, slow sweeps.

Amy giggled and patted his head, pressing her face into his warm fur. “Good boy, Leo. Me love you.”

Meanwhile, the delicious aroma of cooking filled the entire apartment, wafting through open doors and gently nudging at Amy’s attention span. In the kitchen, Charles stood at the stovetop, wooden spoon in hand, humming quietly to himself in French.

He wore a black apron with the Ferrari logo below which was written ‘Kiss the Driver’ and a grin as he juggled pots, a wooden spoon, and his phone propped up with a recipe video. His white T-shirt was splattered with tiny red specks of sauce, and his hair stuck up in tousled spikes from where he kept raking his fingers through it. Every now and then, he’d mutter little French curses under his breath when the sauce bubbled too high or a spoon clattered to the floor.

“Non… non… too much salt, Charles,” he scolded himself, tasting the sauce again. “Okay… maybe just… a little bit more salt.”

Charles dipped the spoon into the sauce and tasted it, his brows drawing together in concentration. He gave a satisfied nod.

“Parfait,” he murmured, licking the spoon clean.

But then he’d catch sight of the framed photo on the counter—a candid shot of Y/N and Amy from Greece, laughing and squinting against the sun—and his entire face would soften. He’d grin and mumble, “It’s gonna be perfect. For my girls.”

Today, he’d insisted on making lunch for his little family — partly to prove that he could, in fact, cook without burning the pasta to a crisp, and partly because he wanted to treat Y/N and Amy to something special. It felt good to be home, free from schedules and pitlane chaos, just a husband and father in his own kitchen.

Turning off the burners, Charles quickly wiped his hands on a kitchen towel and peeked into the living room. He found Amy still glued to the TV, Leo draped across her lap like a living blanket.

“Mon amour!” he called, voice bright and cheerful. “Amy, viens ici! Lunch is ready!”

Amy popped her head up over the couch, curls bouncing. Her eyes widened at the word “lunch,” and she scrambled off the sofa so fast Leo was almost dragged along with her.

“Lunch? Daddy, me hungwy!”

Charles chuckled as Amy toddled into the kitchen, Leo trotting after her like her personal bodyguard. He leaned down, scooping his daughter up under her arms and lifting her high above his head.

“Who’s my hungry princess?” he teased, making her giggle.

“Me! Amy!”

He settled her into one of the dining chairs, adjusting the cushion beneath her so she could see over the table. Leo parked himself right beside her chair, tongue lolling as he gave Charles a hopeful look.

“Don’t even think about it, Leo,” Charles warned with mock sternness. “Pas de bêtises, hein?”

Leo tilted his head, as if pretending he didn’t understand a word of French.

Amy leaned forward on the table, pressing her tiny palms flat against the wood. “Daddy, me want pasta now!”

Charles gave her a gentle smile, brushing a wayward curl off her forehead. “Patience, bébé. We have to wait for Mommy.”

Amy pouted so hard that her lower lip quivered. “Mommy slow!”

Charles glanced toward the hallway, an uneasy frown tugging at his brows. He’d heard the shower running earlier, but Y/N still hadn’t come out to join them.

He ruffled Amy’s hair. “Stay right here with Leo, okay? Daddy’s going to check on Mommy.”

Amy clutched the edge of the table. “Me come too!”

“Non, non. One minute.” He kissed the top of her head. “Daddy will bring Mommy.”

Leo, picking up on the seriousness in Charles’s tone, gave a soft whine but stayed beside Amy, his head resting on the table’s edge.

Charles crossed the bright hallway, past photos on the walls — Amy’s first birthday cake smeared across her cheeks, candid snaps of Charles and Y/N in matching sunglasses, Leo as a fluffy puppy sprawled in Charles’s driver seat.

He paused outside the master bedroom door, tilting his head as he heard faint movement. Pushing the door open slowly, he stepped inside.

Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, washing over the white duvet in liquid gold. The room smelled faintly of Y/N’s perfume and warm, clean linen. Y/N stood just outside the bathroom, wearing a soft floral skirt that fell around her calves and a cream-colored top that clung delicately to her shape. Her hair tumbled around her shoulders in damp waves, framing her flushed cheeks.

But it was her expression that made Charles stop in his tracks. She was smiling — wide, secretive, almost bashful — and holding something hidden behind her back.

“There you are, madame,” Charles teased gently. “I was about to send Leo in as a search dog.”

Y/N laughed, ducking her head shyly. “Sorry… I got a little… distracted.”

Charles tilted his head, eyes narrowing with mock suspicion. “Distracted how? And what are you hiding from me?”

She hesitated, shifting her weight from foot to foot, as though battling an internal debate. “Nothing…” she sang softly, in that way that absolutely screamed she was hiding something.

Charles tilted his head, dark brows arching. “Amour… show me.”

Y/N gave a small gasp as he reached out, fingers threatening to tickle her ribs. “Charles, no!”

He grinned. “Then show me.”

After a beat of silence, Y/N slowly brought her hand forward.

Charles’s eyes dropped instantly to the slim white object in her hand — a small plastic stick, white and digital. His heart slammed against his ribs as he stared, breath freezing in his throat.

He recognized it immediately.

“Is… is that…?” he rasped, unable to finish the sentence.

Y/N’s lips trembled with a smile as she lifted the test higher. The digital screen glowed bright and undeniable:

A rush of dizzying joy crashed through Charles, sweeping the breath right out of his lungs. He blinked rapidly, eyes shining as he lifted his gaze to hers.

“You… you’re pregnant?” he whispered, voice thick with wonder.

Y/N’s smile broke into a soft laugh, eyes glossy with emotion. “I’m pregnant, Charles.”

A strangled noise burst from Charles’s throat — half laugh, half gasp. He lunged forward, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her entirely off the floor.

“CHARLES!” Y/N shrieked as he spun them in wild, dizzying circles.

“MON DIEU!” he exclaimed between kisses to her cheeks and temples. “We’re having another baby! Oh my God, mon amour!”

Still in his arms, Y/N kissed him back, one hand cupping his cheek, the other gripping his shoulder as though anchoring herself.

“I love you so much,” she whispered against his lips.

Their laughter filled the bedroom, echoing off the windows and mingling with the faint hush of the sea outside. Charles set her back on the floor only to pull her into a fierce, heartfelt kiss, one hand still gripping her waist as though terrified she might vanish.

When they finally broke apart, breathless and flushed, he pressed his forehead to hers, voice trembling. “Thank you… thank you for making me a papa again.”

Y/N’s eyes brimmed with tears. “Thank you for being the best papa. And husband.”

Charles gave a choked laugh, kissing her again, softer this time. Then he leaned back, a wicked smirk twisting his lips.

“So… Greece?” he teased.

She blinked. "Hmm?"

"Was it... Greece?" He waggled his eyebrows. "After Monaco?"

A rosy flush crept up Y/N's neck as she covered her mouth in embarrassed laughter. "Oh my God... yes. Greece."

Charles threw his head back and whooped. “I KNEW IT! Greece is magic!”

Their laughter faded as they heard hurried footsteps in the hallway. A tiny voice rang out:

“Daddy? Mommy? Where you goooo? Me waiting!”

Amy appeared in the doorway, curls bouncing, a deep frown creasing her forehead as she marched into the bedroom, Leo trotting close behind.

“Mommy, Daddy, why you take so long?” she demanded, reaching up to tug on Charles’s shorts. “Me hungwy!”

Charles dropped to his knees instantly and scooped Amy up, lifting her into the air until she squealed in delight.

“Oh là là, mon trésor! I’m sorry, bébé. Daddy and Mommy were… talking.”

Amy’s eyes widened. “Talking ’bout what?”

Y/N bent down, gently smoothing Amy’s curls back from her face. “We were talking about a surprise, baby.”

Amy’s mouth made a perfect little O. “A prise?”

Leo barked sharply, tail wagging so hard it thumped the dresser.

Charles held Amy close, kissing her cheek until she burst into giggles. Then she suddenly pressed her small palms to his chest.

“Daddy… Up Mommy!” she insisted.

Both parents blinked. “Up?” Charles echoed.

Amy nodded fiercely. “Up Mommy!”

Charles gave Y/N a puzzled glance. “What does she mean?”

Amy tugged on the hem of Y/N’s cream top, grunting as though trying to lift her mother off the floor by sheer willpower. “UP!”

Y/N burst into giggles. “Baby, I’m too heavy for you!”

Charles’s face split into a grin of realization. “Ohhh… I get it.”

He shifted Amy to his left arm and slid his right arm around Y/N’s waist, hoisting her off the ground.

Y/N squealed, legs dangling. “CHARLES!”

Amy clapped her hands and screamed with laughter. “See! Mommy up!”

Charles grinned. “Daddy’s strong enough for both his girls.”

Y/N laughed breathlessly. “Are you sure about that? Leo’s next, you know.”

Charles mock-groaned. "Non, non. I love Leo but he weighs as much as a Ferrari engine. I only have two arms!”

Amy bent forward, wrapping her arms around Charles’s neck. “Daddy, you big strong.”

Charles lowered Y/N gently to the floor, planting a quick kiss on her lips. Then he leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to Y/N’s stomach, his eyes closing as he whispered, “Bonjour, petit bébé.”

Y/N’s breath caught as she rested a hand on his hair.

Amy squirmed in curiosity. “Daddy, what you doing?”

Charles looked up, grinning. “Talking to your baby brother or sister.”

Amy gasped, eyes huge. “Me have baby?”

Y/N crouched down, kissing Amy’s temple. “Yes, baby. Mommy has a baby in her tummy.”

Amy blinked rapidly. “Baby… in Mommy… right now?”

“Yes,” Charles confirmed, squeezing her gently. “And you’re going to be a big sister.”

Amy’s jaw dropped. Then she shrieked so loudly that Leo barked again, tail sweeping the floor.

“ME BIG SISTER!”

Charles gathered them both into his arms, wrapping Y/N and Amy in a warm hug. Amy nestled against his chest, eyes shining with excitement, while Y/N leaned into his side, laughter trembling on her lips.

“I love you both so much,” Charles murmured, voice thick with emotion.

Amy tipped her head back, eyes glowing. “Me love you too, Daddy. Mommy too!”

Y/N pressed a soft, lingering kiss to Charles’s cheek. “You’re going to be the best daddy all over again.”

Charles looked down at his little family — his wife glowing with new life, his daughter beaming with pride, and Leo wagging his tail so hard he almost toppled over. He tightened his hold, overcome with gratitude.

“Because I have the best family in the world,” he whispered.

Leo barked a final time, as if in perfect agreement.

Amy suddenly wriggled in Charles’s arms. “Daddy… lunch!”

Charles threw his head back and laughed, hugging her tighter. “Oui, bébé. Let’s go eat.”

Arm in arm, they headed toward the kitchen, where the smell of Charles’s sauce still lingered like a promise. Amy nestled against his side, babbling about baby names and pasta. Y/N slipped her fingers through Charles’s free hand, smiling so widely her cheeks hurt.

And as sunlight spilled over them, Charles thought that while trophies might sparkle and crowds might roar, nothing shone brighter than this simple, perfect day.

Because the real championship, he realized, was happening right here — in the warmth of the Leclerc family’s home, while racing might bring trophies, nothing in the world was more precious—or more thrilling—than this beautiful family of his… now with a little more love on the way.

The roar of engines finally faded. The red-and-white kerbs of Monte Carlo glowed under the setting sun, and the scent of burning rubber hung heavy in the air as mechanics hugged one another in jubilant relief.

Charles stood atop the podium, champagne bottle in hand, spraying silver droplets over the crowd below. His cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. The Monegasque flags waved like a sea of red and white, and his name echoed off the sleek glass buildings lining the harbor.

But even as the national anthem played, even as the trophy gleamed in his hands, a single thought pulsed through his chest, louder than the cheers:

And more than anything, he wanted to share that quiet with the people who made every lap worth it.

The villa perched on a cliff above a secluded Greek bay, its whitewashed walls almost blinding beneath the sun. The infinity pool glimmered like a slice of the Aegean itself, and the scent of brine and rosemary drifted on the breeze.

Charles lay sprawled on a lounger beneath an oversized straw umbrella, one ankle crossed over the other, sunglasses perched low on his nose. A soft linen towel was draped over his bare chest, still damp from an earlier dip.

Beside him, Y/N reclined with her legs stretched out, ankles shimmering with sun lotion, a wide-brimmed hat casting shade across her delicate features. She wore a pale coral bikini beneath a flowing white cover-up, the breeze tugging playfully at the fabric. A soft smile curved her lips as she scrolled through photos on her phone.

Their laughter came in gentle bursts, blending with the hush of the waves below.

From further across the terrace came the shrill, joyous shrieks of their daughter, Amelia — known to everyone as Amy.

“Amy, doucement!” Y/N called, though her voice held no real urgency.

Amy wore a cotton dress white as clouds, sprinkled with vivid red cherries that seemed almost alive under the Greek sun. The hem flounced as she toddled barefoot across the hot tiles, tiny toes pink against the pale stone.

In one hand, she clutched a plastic watering can, bright yellow, its spout trailing drops of water. In the other, a bright pink hair clip she’d plucked from Y/N’s suitcase.

Bounding after her came Leo, their exuberant golden retriever, tongue lolling out, his fluffy tail waving like a royal banner. His nails clicked over the stone as he darted in delighted circles around Amy.

“Leo, come bak here!” Amy babbled in a hybrid of French, English, and baby talk. “Me pour you flowa wawa!”

Leo barked and skidded sideways, snatching one of Amy’s small sandals from the ground in a single swift motion. He bolted off, triumph shining in his eyes.

Amy let out a squeal that somehow split the silence and turned every head.

“LÉO! Gimme back my shoe!”

Y/N burst into laughter, shaking her head. She dropped her phone onto her lap, eyes sparkling.

“Charles, your daughter is a hurricane.”

Charles tilted his sunglasses down to peer at her. “Our daughter, amour. Though… oui. A very adorable hurricane.”

“She gets it from you.”

“Moi? I never cause trouble.”

Y/N gave him a look so flat that Charles snorted in surrender. He leaned in, pressing a soft, sun-dappled kiss to her lips.

“Okay. Maybe a little trouble.”

Y/N gave a soft sigh against his mouth, pressing closer. Charles deepened the kiss slightly, fingertips brushing her jaw in a tender caress. Her skin was warm, tasting faintly of salt and sun lotion.

For a precious moment, it felt like the entire Aegean had stilled around them.

“Oi!”

Amy’s tiny, indignant voice cut through the balmy air like a siren.

“That’s my mommy!”

Charles and Y/N pulled apart, faces bright with laughter as they turned to find Amy barreling toward them, curls bouncing wildly around her flushed cheeks. Leo bounded after her, still brandishing the sandal like a trophy.

Amy stopped in front of the loungers, hands planted firmly on her hips. She glared at Charles with a comically stern expression.

“Daddy, no kissy Mommy!” she declared, stamping one little foot. “Mommy is mine!”

Y/N pressed her knuckles to her lips to keep from bursting out laughing. Charles opened his mouth, closed it, then tried again:

“But… but Daddy loves Mommy too!” he protested.

Amy narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “No. She mine.”

Then, without further ado, she climbed up onto Charles’s lounger, little knees digging into his stomach. Charles grunted in mock pain as Amy scrambled onto his lap, her cherry dress flaring out around her tiny legs.

Once seated, she cupped his face firmly between both small hands, smushing his cheeks together until his lips puckered.

“Me kiss me kiss, Daddy!” she insisted, her voice wobbling as she tried to form the words. “You run outta kissesss. Giv me kiss! Me also!”

Charles burst into helpless laughter, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He looped his arms around her tiny waist and peppered her cheeks, forehead, and chubby little nose with rapid-fire kisses.

“Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!”

Amy squealed, wiggling away and flailing her arms.

“Daddy, no tickle face!”

Leo, as if inspired by the excitement, dropped the sandal and barked joyfully. Then, in one glorious bound, he leapt into the pool, sending a huge arc of water spraying over the tiles.

Amy froze, twisting around in Charles’s lap, eyes wide.

“Daddy! Leo in wawa!”

Charles peeked over Amy’s shoulder, water dripping off his chin. “Oui, bébé. Leo loves swimming.”

Amy’s mouth fell open. “Leo is fish?”

Y/N, wiping her tears of laughter, chimed in: “He’s Monsieur Poisson today.”

Amy giggled. “Monsieur Pwa-sin!”

Charles beamed, heart swelling in his chest. There were few things in the world he loved more than the two of them — and seeing Amy’s curls shining under the sun while she chattered in her baby voice might be at the top of that list.

Amy wriggled off Charles’s lap and toddled toward the pool’s edge, curls bouncing. She knelt beside the water, peering at Leo as he paddled in delighted circles. But when Leo splashed closer, sending droplets onto her toes, Amy shrieked and scrambled backward.

“Daddy! Wawa scary!” she cried, pressing her hands over her mouth.

Charles eased off the lounger, stretching his back until his vertebrae cracked. He peeled off his white linen shirt, leaving his chest bare, abs tight and tan from days in the sun.

Y/N caught her breath. “Charles…”

He paused, smirking. “Quoi?”

“Stop looking like a Greek god in front of our daughter.”

Charles leaned closer, kissing her firmly. “Later, amour,” he murmured with a wicked grin.

He turned to Amy, who was now half-hiding behind Y/N’s legs, peeking out with big brown eyes.

“Come here, petite cerise,” Charles coaxed, kneeling by the water.

Amy inched forward cautiously.

“Daddy… no boom wawa?”

Charles bit back a grin. “No boom. Come give Daddy a kiss.”

Amy hesitated, little fingers twisting the hem of her cherry dress. After a moment, she leaned forward and pressed a sloppy kiss to his cheek.

Charles immediately threw himself backward into the water with exaggerated flailing arms.

SPLOOSH!

Water surged over the tiles in a sparkling wave. Amy let out a scream of delight so high it practically startled seagulls from the sky.

“DADDY FELL DOWN!”

Y/N howled with laughter, clutching the umbrella pole for support. Charles surfaced, shaking his hair out of his eyes, and sputtered water.

“Did you see that, bébé?” he spluttered, grinning. “Daddy fall?”

Amy hopped up and down, clapping her hands. “I see! Daddy go BOOM!” She turned to Y/N, eyes huge. “Mommy, Daddy go boom in wawa!”

“Yes, baby!” Y/N gasped, wiping tears from her cheeks. “Daddy went boom!”

"Yup, he did, baby!" Y/N laughed. "Silly Daddy."

Charles floated to the pool’s edge, reaching up his dripping hands toward his daughter.

“Come in, ma chérie. Daddy’s here. I’ll keep you safe.”

Amy wavered, clutching the edges of her dress. “No… me scawed.”

Y/N crouched beside her, brushing a damp curl off Amy’s forehead. “But Daddy’s so strong, baby. He’ll hold you tight. And look — Leo’s swimming like a big fish!”

Amy peered over the edge again. Leo gave a happy bark and seemed to wave a paw at her.

“Leo fish?” she whispered.

“Oui!” Charles said. “Leo is Monsieur Poisson!”

Amy dissolved into giggles. “Monsieur Pwa-sin!”

Y/N kissed her cheek. “Let’s take off your pretty dress first. You can swim in your strawberry swimsuit.”

Amy gasped. “Me want swim suit!”

Y/N peeled the cherry dress off over Amy’s head, revealing a red swimsuit dotted with tiny strawberries. Charles gave a low whistle, eyes wide.

“Look at that beautiful mermaid!”

Amy giggled, cheeks pink. “Me mermaid!”

Y/N nudged her gently. “Want to swim with Daddy?”

Amy bit her lip. Then, glancing at Charles’s open arms, she finally nodded.

Charles spread his arms. “Jump, bébé. Daddy’s ready!”

Amy’s curls fluttered in the breeze as she teetered on the edge, wiggling her toes. She drew a deep breath, scrunched her eyes shut… and launched herself forward with a high-pitched squeal:

“Daddy, catch meeee!”

Charles caught her in one smooth motion, sweeping her high above the water before pulling her close. Amy clung to his neck, shrieking with laughter as he spun them in a gentle circle.

“See, bébé? Water’s not scary at all.”

Amy kicked her legs experimentally. “Me swimming! Me mermaid!”

“Yes, you are!” Charles laughed, kissing her damp curls.

Nearby, Leo paddled over, spraying water everywhere. Amy shrieked as Leo gave her cheek a big wet lick.

“LEO!” she shrieked. “No lick me!”

On the pool deck, Y/N stood with her phone raised, snapping photo after photo, eyes shining with pride and affection.

“Smile for Mommy!”

Charles turned toward her, holding Amy close, and pressed a soft kiss to his daughter’s cheek. Amy waved at the camera, tiny fingers splayed wide.

“Hi Mommyyyy!”

Y/N lowered her phone, eyes warm.

“You two… are my whole world.”

Charles swam closer, lips quirking into a mischievous smile. “You’re part of this world too, amour.”

He reached up and tugged Y/N closer. Y/N squealed, leaning down for a kiss… and Charles pulled her halfway into the water.

“CHARLES!”

Water soaked the hem of Y/N’s cover-up. She slapped his shoulder playfully as Amy shrieked in delight.

“Oi! Daddy, that’s my Mommy!” Amy scolded again, flailing her tiny arms between them.

Charles and Y/N laughed until their sides hurt, pulling Amy close in a soggy three-way hug while Leo barked gleefully around them.

Eventually, Charles carried Amy over to the pool steps, letting her sit while he splashed gentle waves around her feet.

“You’re so brave, mon trésor,” he murmured, brushing her wet curls off her forehead. “Daddy’s proud of you.”

Amy leaned forward, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck, eyes fluttering half-closed in exhaustion. “Me brave,” she echoed sleepily.

“Yes, you are,” Charles whispered, kissing her cheek. “Daddy’s little mermaid.”

Y/N knelt beside them, ruffling Amy’s hair. “I think someone’s ready for a nap.”

Amy jerked her head up. “No nap!” she protested — then yawned so hard her eyes watered.

Charles chuckled. “How about snuggle time instead?”

Amy paused, considering. Finally, she nodded. “Snuggle time.”

“That’s my girl.”

Charles lifted her out of the water, wrapping her in a fluffy towel. She nestled her damp curls into his shoulder, thumb creeping into her mouth.

Y/N rose and pressed a soft kiss to Charles’s wet temple. “Thank you for this,” she whispered. “For all of it.”

Charles glanced down at the two most important people in his life. His chest swelled, heart pounding with love so fierce it almost hurt.

“There’s nothing in this world more important than you two,” he murmured. “This… this is the real victory.”

Y/N kissed him again, slow and lingering, as Leo bounded out of the pool, spraying water everywhere and flopping at their feet.

Amy peeked up sleepily, mumbling around her thumb:

“Daddy… me still want more kisses.”

Charles smiled so wide it crinkled his eyes.

“You’ll never run out of Daddy’s kisses, mon amour. I promise.”

Under a sky awash in pink and gold, Charles settled onto the sunbed, his family curled close, warm skin pressed together, the salt-scented breeze rustling the olive trees around them.

The Monaco trophy sat gleaming somewhere miles away. But Charles knew: this was the real win.

But of course, he informed me that my suggestions for the hairpin were "completely incorrect, Papa" and proceeded to demonstrate the "proper technique" 😅

The best part? He insisted on having a proper engineers' meeting after practice. At 5, he's already more organized than me - he made his own notebook for track notes and demands proper debriefs after each session.

P.S. To the other parents at the track - I apologize for him stopping your kids to explain the perfect racing line. He gets that from his mother's side obviously 😂
