It's about to be 10 years since the live action 'Dredd' hit movie threatres

September 7th marks 10 years for the UK market and September 21st (10 months from now) marks 10 years for US market.

The movie severely under performed - box office $41.5M with ~$45M budget. There's numerous reasons why it failed - poor marketing, poor timing, reboot exhaustion, 3D fatigue, possibly because of R rating, etc - audiences just did not have an interest in watching this movie, and most learned they were wrong when *Dredd* became available for home viewing.

Week after week, this cult classic will easily appear on r/movies:

- great movie but performed poorly

- perfect cast

- movie you regret not seeing in threatres

- movie that's actually better in 3D

- helmet stays on

- soundtrack

It's probably unlikely, but a limited movie theatre re release on the 10 year anniversary would appease many that regret not seeing it on the big screen (I being one of them). Draw up some buzz to the studios and production companies for Dredd.

The movie holds up after 9 years.

I watched it sometime in 2013 because I was a fan of Lena Headey (Sarah Connor and Queen Gorgo) and Karl Urban (Doom and Dr "Bones" McCoy) and was captivated start to finish. Olivia Thirlby held her own rightfully. And then it happened, a few months later, I'm at my best friend's place, and we're deciding what to watch while eating. And I ask, 'have you watched dredd?' he didn't think anything of it, but noticed it was available in 3D and wanted to show off his 3D capable mega sized TV. we throw on the glasses and I can't believe it, the movie is even better in 3D.

We finish the movie and I ask him his opinion. You know when you recommend something and it doesn't live up to the hype? We talked about everything - the action, the cast, the visuals, the soundtrack, and the poor box office. But thanks to my best friend I got to see a movie that was modified in post to add in 3D effects and those visuals were amazing.

If I could watch one movie in 2022 in a movie theatre, I'd wish for DREDD in 3D
