The team return from a tough call. Everyone returned right away except for Severide. He was super quiet and not saying much but he took thing harder than the rest. He'd always had a soft spot for kids, but this particular case nearly broke him. He rescued a little boy who'd been crushed under a call. He'd gotten hit by someone who had been on their phone. The little boy unfortunately didn't survive his injuries despite all the efforts.

Everyone was quiet in the common room. Severide stayed near the squad truck. He was shattered when he heard that the boy didn't survive. Internally he was beating himself and wondering if he could have done something different to give him more time. He couldn't think straight. He sat on the side of the squad truck trying not to cry. But the red rimmed eyes were a dead give away. He was struggling to keep it together.

"Hey anyone seen Severide?" Capp asks.
