look ngl if this were me in this moment—an ai having to audacity to 'forgive me' for asking the most simple question anyone could possibly ask the AI CHATBOT of a DELIVERY COMPANY—i genuinely would have gone on a killing spree. i dunno how this person didn't lose their mind in this moment cause i would have exited my house and caused the largest string of missing peoples ever seen in human history. dhl vans across the world would have been found abandoned and full of various limbs, each one dedicated to a specific body part. there would have been crazed notes written on dhl 'missed delivery' papers penned entirely in blood with 'I FORGIVE YOU' over and over again like one of the goddamn slenderman pages. this moment would have been the stress point that caused me to snap and gain superpowers like in a hollywood b-movie. i would have floated up into the atmosphere and looked to the sun and gripped my hand and caused it to expand until it consumed the whole solar system, myself included. i would have entered the afterlife and found the creator of the human experiment and reduced them down into a panko crumb. reality folded unto itself in blind rage. i forgive you. i forgive you. i forgive you. i forgive you.

that's actually a common fanfic thing they'll put warnings where sex is happening so you can skip that chapter or part of the chapter some even mark the sex scene in some way or put the chapters with the sex scenes in a different fic... super don't love it's coming over to books now!!

Honestly—at least you're not getting paid for fanfic (or you're not supposed to be). I see a fic much as I see bonus newsletter content; I have no standards, it's free, it's whatevs!

With a book you're selling... Make the call. And idk, while I see the "It's to make the books more inclusive" argument, I just don't know that the books I've seen on NetGalley, literally advertised as "this epub comes with two versions, pick whether you want the spicy one or the closed door one" are prioritizing inclusivity... versus commerce.

Call me a cynic. I just don't think it's necessary, and I don't think it does any good to the people who are actually writing solid, intentionally closed door books. If I'm asked for recs from someone who is sex-repulsed and asking for something that will work for them, I will admit that I don't have a lot of recs (and I'd probs ask around for a friend who does read more closed door books than I do) but... I'm going to recommend you Mimi Matthews before I recommend "oh hey, here's an open door book, but the author tells you which chapters to skip". You deserve! A whole! Book!
