Will never he over Rumi's patterns, I'm so normal about seeing them and seeing that yes my scars can be beautiful and visible

Okay but Rumi's anger and her finally unleashing her anger on the world is so good. She had all that rage at herself and at the world bubbling under her skin, and by shoving it down and bottling it up, she made it worse. It was only when she faced Gwi-Ma and looked her flaws and imperfections in the face, and accepted what and who she is, that she could start anew and forge her own path.

How pissed do you think in-universe Polytrix shippers got when Saja Boys came around and everyone else started shipping them together

Being able to see KPOP Demon Hunters as a little girl with birthmarks she loathed and scars she was self-conscious of would have been a truly profound experience

This AU idea has been a brain worm in my head for a bit. I’ve developed my own headcanons about it but I’m curious of your thoughts and ideas for it.
Generation Swap AU
The Sunlight Sisters are the current huntresses and the Huntrix were the 90s/early 2000s generation of huntresses.
Relevant relationships adjust accordingly (ie Rumi is Miyeong’s deceased mother)
Oh, that’s an interesting idea.
I’m assuming that Miyeong is the name you gave Rumi’s mother? Correct me if I’m wrong.
It would be interesting to actually get to see the Sunlight Sisters since we only really got to meet Celine, with not even a mention of Rumi’s mother’s name, or whatever happened to the third member.
I would think for this one, since it’s a generation swap, Rumi’s father from the movie would be the one taking Jinu’s place.
And also, since Miyeong and Celine are sisters, that would mean they would both be half-demon. Which, if they both keep this secret from the third member, I can see there being a split between them.
And also, Miyeong and Celine’s differing ideas/mentalities of how they go about dealing with their patterns and the internalized self-hate/shame that they feel about it.
Maybe, while Miyeong finds understanding in herself through her moments with Hyeonki (the name I gave Rumi’s father, idk what you would name him, I’m just using that for here so I have something to refer to him by). While Celine just wants to hide her patterns more and get rid of them and sinks deeper into the self-hate that she’s trapped in. And then there’s a moment where Miyeong helps her sister with it.
Also, the third member (imma name her Sun-Hee, 선희) having doubts and wondering about if she’s as close to the others since she isn’t their sister. Just a sense of division that comes to a head later on. Maybe it’s part of the insecurity that Gwi-Ma whispers to her.
And I would assume that Mira and Zoey are the girls’ mentors here. And they want to keep Rumi’s memory alive by taking care of her daughters. Idk if they would be like how Celine is in the movie, but I would assume their teachings even if well-intentioned would still make them think being a demon is bad and that they have to hide it. But would also be interesting to see how Mira and Zoey handle it differently since they’re not the same, and they might grieve Rumi differently.
I imagine Hyeonki as being a bit of a trickster kind of character, he always seems to manage to avoid their attacks just in the knick of time, and is an annoying flirty bastard at times. (Which is kind of funny because it’s like mother and daughter are interacting with the same kind of men because we all know that Jinu is such a smug bastard at times), but he is also ashamed of what and who he is. Perhaps, he’s kind of “uses humor to cope” kind of guy.
Would also need to make other demon characters since the Saja Boys would have likely been part of the previous generation. (More OC potential there for their names and whatever it is that they have going on)
Would also need a manager character for them, or whoever would help the girls manage their kpop idol schedule.
Also for weapons: Miyeong uses a form of Mudang staff, Celine uses sickle blades, and Sun-Hee uses a pair of Korean war fans (or a singular one, but I thought her using two would look better).
Anyway, just my initial thoughts for this kind of au idea. Thank you for sharing it :3

Only think that would make kpop demon hunters better is if it were an actual series with time to develop both the demon/demon hunter lore, the saja boys backstory and maybe some extra huntrix lore on top. Then it'd be perfect

Jinu's character introduction is really fantastic, it sets up his entire character arc and does a great job of balancing the inherent silliness of his idea to create a demon boy band with the eerie atmosphere they're building for the demon realm. "In 400 years, you've never done a single thing that didn't serve yourself," is also a fucking phenomenal line that gives a very strong impression of his character right off that bat that the movie spends the rest of its runtime playing with.

with the amount of saja boys fanart i've seen around, you can imagine my surprise when i found out those boys have maybe one line each (if that)...
once again, a badass trio of wonderful, beautiful, and complex female characters is upstaged in fandom by a group of hot men :/

everyone keeps saying how HUNTR/X would have been cancelled given just the small snippets we’ve seen in the movie (showing up to their own concert late, starting mid-song, canceling a live show last minute, etc) but consider this:
they’ve been cancelled” multiple times already.
but they’re too busy demon hunting to worry about whatever weekly twitter discourse or tabloid gossip there is around them. and ofc Bobby being the star of a manager he is handles things at their worst without needing to bring in the girls, unless they ask him specifically. he’ll get it to the point where he’ll get them to perform and bc they always perform leagues above every kpop group out there, they always manage to get uncancelled

I love how K Pop Demon Hunters points out SO many issues and so much commentary on the K Pop industry and K Pop idols in general.
The infantilizing of Baby Saja? A commentary on how fans will infantilize and "uwu"-ify grown ass MEN and the industry CAPITALIZES off of it.
The sexualization of Abby? The fact that so many (pretty much all) K Pop idols will be objectified and sexualized to hell, and how their bodies are always on point because the latter is unacceptable.
The fact that the Saja Boys made it up the charts with ONE single, while its implied that Huntrix has been around for YEARS and has worked their way up for fans? But somehow, are now being upstaged by a random boy group? Yeah, it shows how boy bands and such make it up easier than girl bands. (Easy to connect those dots on why that is)
The Saja Boys going from all cutesy, pretty, and upbeat on stage to slouching and bleh out of sight? That shows how no matter how nice, bright, and lovely things seem to be, behind the screen and the cameras can be (may very well likely be) not the case at ALL. This is also communicated through them being literal demons but being loved by the public for the image they put up, not what really is.
Very normal about this movie...
