Snow White followed Kuzco's lead, her delicate steps almost echoing his confident strides as they reached the outer walkway. The breathtaking view of rolling hills and the imperial city stretched before them, but her focus drifted inward. It was the Emperor's words—"nothing's off the table"—that sparked an unease within her.

Quietly startled by the question that surfaced in her mind, Snow White bit her lip, pushing it away. It felt too personal, too intrusive. Yet, the curiosity gnawed at her, lingering from the moment she first heard whispers about Kuzco's past. Could she really bring herself to ask? She hesitated, thinking hard about another question, any question that wouldn’t tread so close to a story that might open wounds. But nothing else came.

Realizing Kuzco might be waiting for her, she felt her cheeks flush slightly. Politeness tugged at her, and, at last, she spoke softly, her voice carrying hesitance.

"Umm, well..." She paused briefly, gathering her courage, then continued. "I apologize if I'm being nosy, Your Highness, and do forgive me for being so bold, but is it true?" Her delicate hands clasped together as she glanced nervously at him. "Were you poisoned by the woman who took care of you?"

Her heart stirred as the words hung in the air, wondering if she had crossed a line or whether Kuzco's earlier openness had been an invitation she could trust.
