King of Quills (Swords) Tarot card from Brink Literacy Project’s Literary Tarot Deck! Paired with Kelly Sue DeConnick’s interpretation with Marcus Aurelius, we initially took this card down a far more fiery path than we ended up finalizing it with. Here you can see the tonal shift from chaos and battle to the serenity of the aftermath.
To see more of the fantastic artists and authors working on this amazing deck, and to get one yourself, check out the Kickstarter here! Each card is paired with some HUGE names in comics and the literary sphere (Margaret Atwood, Mark Millar, Joel Kim Booster, Roxane Gay to name a FEW), and all the proceeds go towards Brink Literacy Project’s amazing cause. Definitely will be worth your while to at least check it out!

🌟 Here is a second secret on the cover of the book: for years, I have hidden a particular symbol in my works: the ⭐️ . It represents hope, light in darkness. It guides the brave traveler, in search of adventure or knowledge, and accompanies him with a soft friendly glow. When I do not represent a star directly, I can choose a flower that has the same shape to illustrate the same idea. 🌸
I love this symbol, it has a lot of meaning in my life, it absolutely had to appear at the top of the cover of this book. 🌟 The Kickstarter campaign to publish my artbook is live here : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yoannlossel/forgotten-gods-the-art-of-yoann-lossel

JOURNEY OF KEY CHARACTERS DURING THE CALAMITY
Legend for 2nd photo: orange is Link's and Zelda's path, green is eacaping soldiers.
Some notes from the book:
Daruk's plan where Link will confront Calamity Ganon was described as "desperate." Also, the way the Beasts were positioned made it impossible for each Champion to see what was happening in Central Hyrule as they were rushing towards them.
The blights already took over the Beasts by the time each Champion arrived there. So the blights were ready to fight, the Champions were not.
Link and Zelda's escape plan was to go to Kakariko Village. They used the forests for cover and guided remaining survivors along the way. The defense of Fort Hateno was primarily Link & Zelda + some survivors + some of the soldiers stationed there.
The immense number of Guardians sent to pursue Link and Zelda shows much of a threat Ganon considered the Hero.
Akkala Citadel is the last stand of Hyrule and where the kingdom was extinguished. The Citadel's primary function was to repel invaders from the sea, but the guardians came from Central Hyrule, which they weren't prepared for.
Fort Hateno is considered a miracle. It wasn't well-equipped like the Akkala Citadel so it was most likely a checkpoint. During the Calamity, defense there just consisted of people shooting arrows from the top of the wall. Fort Hateno hasn't been restored because those skilled in stonemasonry had been wiped out, along with the knowledge of how to repair stone buildings. People of the region also lack funds to rebuild.
