When in the market for buying a used vehicle, there can seem to be an overwhelming amount of stuff to do. You have to do your research, make your lists, physically go out looking around in different dealerships, take test drives, get insurance, find financing and so on.
With all this necessary work that has to be done when purchasing a used vehicle, do you really need to add more to your to-do list by also purchasing a car history check report?
Yes, a used car history report is essential.
Why is a vehicle history check so important? Well, for one thing, peace of mind, for starters. It helps you to be confident in your decision if you know where your car has been before you decide where itâs going. However, there are other very important and fundamental reasons why you should always ask for a vehicle history report, and MyVehicle.ie is here to explain five major ones.

A new car-sharing scheme operated by Green Mobility will put 400 all-electric vehicles on the streets of Dublin. They are set to begin their operations sometime this year.
The Green Mobility scheme will be similar in size to its Copenhagen operation which employs 35 full-time staff.
What makes this latest service different is the fact that customers will not have to return cars to certain designated locations like competing companies such as GoCar. That service is owned by Europcar, and Yuko, a car-sharing club owned by Toyota Ireland.
Green Mobility is a Danish company and unlike its rivals, you wonât have to return the car to a pre-designated parking spot. All its fleet is fully electric. According to the companyâs chief international officer Anders Wall:
âWithin the operational zone â say within the city limits â the cars can be parked anywhere that is legal. You donât have to return them to a station or designated location like you do with GoCar. Our service is literally door-to-door and not just A to B. Read FullÂ

One of the most essential things you can do when purchasing a vehicle is to take it for a test drive. A car should always be test driven and thoroughly inspected before purchase. It is especially important to test drive a used car, especially if youâre buying privately.
When considering a car, it is important to check the both the exterior and interior as well as testing the engine, steering, clutch, brakes and suspension. If, after checking over the vehicle you discover any problems, you have two options. You can either use them to bargain with the seller and drive the price down as you will need to spend money fixing them, or you can simply walk away from the sale.

Staged car accidents have been a tactic by fraudsters for a long time but they continue to perpetuate these crimes on an increasingly regular basis.
âLet's crash our cars into each otherâ is the order of the day. Â The head of Axaâs special investigation unit says fraudsters are orchestrating fake accidents and are crashing into each other.
The scenario goes like this. A number of people get together, often with two inexpensive cars ready for damage and crash them into each other before everyone involved in the scam claims injury.
