Fear and Fridays - a poem by Zach Bryan
I have taken my motor bike down the Pacific 101
and I have stood atop the Empire State Building with my father
I have ridden the fear, although I was afraid
Every single time
I’ve learned that every waking moment is enough
And excess never leads to better things
And only piles and piles atop the things that are already abundantly in front of you
Like breathing and chasing and slow dancing
And love making
fighting and, laughing
I am unhinged, unworthy, and distasteful to mostly everyone I meet
However, I am loyal to a fault
to anyone I find kindness in
I do not and will not fear tomorrow
Because I feel as though today has been enough
I’ve got no hate in my heart for anything, anywhere, or anyone
And I think fear and Fridays have got an awful lot in common
They’re overdone and glorified
And always leave you wanting
Yeah, I think fear and Fridays got an awful lot in common
They’re overdone and glorified
And always leave you wanting

The Mountain
-Laura Ding-Edwards
If the mountain seems too big today
Then climb a hill instead
If the morning brings you sadness
It’s ok to stay in bed
If the day ahead weighs heavy
And your plans feel like a curse
There’s no shame in rearranging
Don’t make yourself feel worse
If a shower stings like needles
And a bath feels like you’ll drown
If you haven’t washed your hair for days
Don’t throw away your crown
A day is not a lifetime
A rest is not defeat
Don’t think of it as failure
Just a quiet kind retreat
The mountain will still be there
When you want to try again
You can climb it in your own time
Just love yourself ‘til then.

To Althea, From Prison
When Love with unconfinèd wings Hovers within my Gates, And my divine Althea brings To whisper at the Grates; When I lie tangled in her hair, And fettered to her eye, The Gods that wanton in the Air, Know no such Liberty.
When flowing Cups run swiftly round With no allaying Thames, Our careless heads with Roses bound, Our hearts with Loyal Flames; When thirsty grief in Wine we steep, When Healths and draughts go free, Fishes that tipple in the Deep Know no such Liberty.
When (like committed linnets) I With shriller throat shall sing The sweetness, Mercy, Majesty, And glories of my King; When I shall voice aloud how good He is, how Great should be, Enlargèd Winds, that curl the Flood, Know no such Liberty.
Stone Walls do not a Prison make, Nor Iron bars a Cage; Minds innocent and quiet take That for an Hermitage. If I have freedom in my Love, And in my soul am free, Angels alone that soar above, Enjoy such Liberty.
- Richard Lovelace

You know those kinds of girls
Who look like they're made of honey and glass
Like sticky sweet ash
And you can't get the taste off your tongue-
Burnt sugar and a little bit of rum.
And she dances in the rain
With her clothes on,
Drenched to the bone
And never knows when she's all gone.
But she's the life of the party
And deep down I know,
Nobody flinches when they take off her clothes.
And i wonder what its like
To be one of those girls
To sit in the sun
And look at the world
And never think-
Wow.
Am I enough?
'Cause life is easy when you're the main character
And I'm sitting here thinking
This is not fair
But her smile makes it hard to be mad-
It's not her fault I'm so fucking sad.
So I'll sit here and look
At these girls in the sun
Dancing in the rain
And just having their fun.
And maybe someday I'll forget the past
And be one of those girls
Of honey and glass.

Hi,
Okay.
I cannot give anymore.
-What?-
I cannot give anymore.
Fuck,
But my whole personality's built around kindness...
And if I can't give then I'm what?
Stuck.
-So let's work this out-
-what's wrong with your heart?-
It won't come out,
No, it won't even start.
-And then moving on,-
-what's wrong with your brain?-
It yearns for the past,
But it won't be the same.
-It's clear to see,-
-You've got a disease.-
What's the disease?
-Well, it's called "empathy".-
-It means you'll give blood 'till there's none left to bleed.-
But I do not want to be kind!
-What?-
I only want to survive!
-No.-
This effort's exhausting.
It's getting me nowhere,
And where does that leave me?
+Alone+
-You do not have a choice.-
-The honey slips into your voice.-
-Kindess flows through your veins.-
-That is something that cannot be changed.-
-Caring is what fulfills you.-
-Learn to harness it before it-
-kills you-
Diagnosis- Milo
