Alright everyone welcome to my main page that I never use. You’ll know me from my secondary account @mycurrent-hyperfixation but I’ve change my name here to be something similar cause I honestly just might start using this account again

I’ve been shadowbanned again! I literally want to pull my hair out because I don’t understand why this keeps happening. Is someone reporting me? I post fluff, tumblr!

Anyway that unfortunately means no updated chapters for Take A Chance On Me until tumblr gets back to me which last time took nearly a month. And we’re so close to the end too 😫. I’m literally fuming right now but there’s nothing to do but wait I suppose. I hope you’ll all still be here when I do return from my shadowban but in the mean time, I love all of you for your constant support of my work.

The Vanishing Isle of Hy Brasil

In 1878, residents of Ballycotton woke up to see that a new island had suddenly appeared, however when fishermen tried to approach the island the entire thing suddenly vanished.

While this might sound like there was something slipped into the water of the entire town and they were simply all hallucinating, there have actually been several reported cases of similar things happening in coastal areas of Ireland. While sometimes these islands are simply written off as mirages, others believe that it is the Irish legend of a fantastical island known as Hy Brasil. This island is supposedly shrouded from human eyes for the most part, only becoming visible every seven years. The island is apparently located on the West coast of Ireland, and several people have reported either visiting it or witnessing its appearance and disappearance.

There are many historical signs which point to Hy Brasil actually existing. Decades of early maps show a small landmass of the west coast of Ireland. Looking at the shape of Galway Bay…is it hard to imagine an island once lay there?

I know everyone on tumblr suffers from a lack of sleep (I do too) so it seemed important to make this post.

Researchers at UPenn and collaborators at Peking University have found extended periods of wakefulness actually kill some neurons and cause damage to others. 

I know not everyone here is a science person so I won’t bore you with all the detailed mechanics in determining this, but you can always access the full article here if interested
