(More) Reasons why Lady Layton might be delayed

My previous post got a lot of notes so I made another one. Honestly, this isn’t meant to be taken seriously lol

- Capcom approached Level 5 at the last minute and asked for a crossover game between Lady Layton and Apollo Justice 

- We’ve gotta make as many references to the original series as possible. Classic Layton catchphrases, touching callbacks to dialogue (e.g. “Our shared past and our lost future.”), runnings gags like the snail joke

-  Need to think up more ideas for mini games

- Bonus episodes to flesh out side-characters 

- They saw fans’ worries about Noah being ‘treated badly’ so they’re trying to make his job easier 

- Can’t decide on a design for older Descole

- The 3D has to look better than Miracle Mask and Azran Legacy combined

- Kat has to meet her grandpapa and grandmama… who still haven’t aged a day. Level 5 really need to explain that.  

- “Kat gets kidnapped at some point in the game and needs to be saved- “ “REWRITE IT. SHE SAVES HERSELF.”

- Terrible voice acting is terrible and needs to be improved. (Sorry, Lost Future Flora.)

- You can’t include Alfendi without Lucy. You just can’t. 

-They have to create a whole new soundtrack that’s often reminiscent of the old Layton tunes

- “Ok, but if we can’t bring back Clive, can we at least reference him? Let’s say he got released after ten years of atonement in prison!”/ “…I’m sorry, Mr. Lowthenal, Sir, but there’s no way that happened.”

- They’re working on THE SECOND LAYTON MOVIE at the same time that could explain how Kat and Alfendi came into Layton’s life 

- Inspector Barton needs more love

- The Level 5 employees keep arguing over who gets to be Layton’s love interest (if he has one). There’s LayClaire, Ranlay, Lemmy, someone’s OC… 

- “What about Randall Ascot? Does he get a cameo? Tell me he gets cameo or I’m not voicing the new villain!”/ *Sigh* “Very well, Mr. Lowethenal. We’ll delay prodution by a month.”

- Explaining how London was cleared up after Clive’s machine made a bigass TEAR in earth

- One game alone cannot contain so much Britishness 

- The game must be satisfactory in honour of Akira Tago’s memory. Not an exact copy of the original Layton games, but something that holds true to the spirit of the series.

Things I would love to see in the PL anime

NO MORE tragedies from Layton’s past. This man has lost someone close to him every ten years since he was like 7. He can have as many kids as he likes, as long as the death of a friend/loved one ain’t attached to it. That friend can be missing/incapacitated - fine. No more tragic backstories. Just let Layton live in peace, occasionally taking his family on wild adventures.        

On top of that, Level 5 aren’t allowed to kill off their characters just to incite an emotion. If a character has to die, they better get a name, development and they better go out with a bang. No more female characters dying of random diseases. 

Unrequited love triangle. (Fake or not.)

Now that’s out of the way, here’s some things I’m actually looking forward to: 

New mysteries, new locations and new characters!

Occasionally referencing/revisiting old mysteries and locations outside of London. 

Aside from the main cast, it’s very rare for characters to appear outside of their respective games. We got a couple of quick cameos during Eternal Diva, which was cool. Would’ve been nice to see some more during LMJ, but oh well. I don’t need a whole episode dedicated to the Black Ravens, but it’d be nice to get a quick mention about what they’ve been up to since Spectre’s Call.

That being said, I really like the idea of seeing Slice of Life scenes. Maybe taking a couple of the most popular characters and showing five minutes out of their day. Like seeing Amelia Ruth at a chess tournament, looking at peace after her granddad’s passing… Seeing Randall, Angela and Henry hanging out in Monte d’Or… The Curious Villagers learning to live with Flora… Just little things like that. It can just be cute moments out of their lives, or OR we get really important scenes like Bronev taking in Emmy, Desmond with his family and Layton spending time with Flora.

Some hints of how Layton ended up with Kat and Alfendi. Please.

Lucy Baker. Just… just Lucy Baker.

What happened to Luke when he moved away? What happened to Emmy when she left? What about Flora? 

Someone already mentioned this… but more action scenes! Aside from defeating evil machines

Puzzles the viewer can solve, kind of like they did during ED.

Female villain. Female villain. Female villain. 

Memories - Layton remembering Claire etc.

Reasons why Lady Layton might be delayed

-Hershel is MISSING

-Seriously, Level 5 can’t remember where they left him 

-Layton’s voice actor has gone AWOL

-”Mr Miller, we really need you to record some lines of the professor in peril -” “IT’S BAD ENOUGH I HAD TO SHRIEK IN PAIN FOR THE LIGHT BEAM SCENE IN AZRAN LEGACY. SERIOUSLY, LEAVE LAYTON ALONE.”

-Alfendi is threatening to destroy Level 5 unless they include him 

-Every PL character wants a cameo and it’s taking forever to add them all in

-The developers are dying to give Clive Dove a cameo, but this makes no sense he’s evil and meant to be in prison??? Who cares - everyone has or has had a crush on Clive Dove. The fanboys will love it. Do it. 

- Too many plot twists convoluting the narrative

- The character designs lack diversity, so they’re adding a greater variety. 

- They want to put Lady Layton on the Switch too 

- They’re making Mystery Room 2 at the same time

- “Sh*t, we forgot Flora again!”

- They’re writing more family bonding moments 

- Beautifully animated cutscenes aren’t made in a day

- Older Emmy needs more muscles 

- Finding new voice actors is hard

- Can’t decide on which character must get kidnapped 

- “Have we decided on a mother for Kat yet? Is she alive? Are all the Layton kids orphans? Who knows?” 

- Luke prefers America (he’s teamed up with Phoenix Wright) and doesn’t want to come back to England  

- “We promised comedy in this game but it’s a little lacking… Time for a fart joke!”

- Can’t think of a reason why Sherl can talk 

- “Do we give Katrielle a girlfriend…?”

-”Yes!”
