Screened "Nebraska" last night...

Bruce Dern will undoubtedly be an Oscar contender for his performance in Nebraska!!!

The movie was shot in black & white. I can understand why from a character perspective and possibly even fro a scenery perspective (implying that everything from Billings, MT to Lincoln, NE is shades of gray); however, there were some scenes of American farmland that I bet would have been just stunning in color.

Overall, I would definitely recommend seeing it... it's going to get Academy Award buzz for sure.

I went into this sneak peek movie thinking that it was going to be AWFUL and fully prepared to walk out early and just go home. But... I was laughing at the opening credits. I kept thinking that there would be some point when I thought, "ok... It started out good, but now I'm bored and I'm outta here." That NEVER happened. I laughed through the ENTIRE movie. Don't get me wrong... it's not going to win any Oscars but it's great for an evening of mindless comical entertainment and Jason Sudeikis carried it from beginning to end. AND... they did something that movies don't usually do anymore. They showed out-takes during the end credits. All-in-all... it was funny and a really good date night movie. Enjoy!

And remember... it just my random opinion.

Colgate Total Mouth Wash

I'm very picky when it comes to mouthwash.  So to say that I was skeptical would be an understatement.  But, I've been using it for a little over a week and I have to say, I really like it.  One of the things I'm pickiest about is the flavor.  If it's too "hot," I can't keep in my mouth long enough to do any good.  If it's too mediciney (not really a word), I don't want to keep it in my mouth long enough to do any good.  The Colgate Total was really nice.  I would highly recommend this product.

I got this in my Spring VoxBox and I have to say... it's my favorite thing in the box!

I'm a lip balm ADDICT!!!  I'm a junkie!  I never leave home without it!

This is very nice.  It's not heavy, waxy or sticky.  It's just the right amount of moisture and the tint isn't out of control.  It's very subdued nd that might just be what I love best about it. 

Would I buy this product... YES!  BIG FAN!

NEWSFLASH:  It is not okay to take your teeth out in the lunch room and rinse them off in the sink!  OMG! 

Yes, this did happen right in front of me not 20 minutes ago.  UGH!

Got my VoxBox last week!  I'm so excited to try all of the products that came in my Influenster VoxBox.  

First on the list: TASTYKAKE - KANDY BAR KAKES

As someone who's been very calorie conscious lately, the first thing I did was look at the Nutritional Information section on the wrapper.  LOTS of calories -  over 200... YIKES!  But, as the same person who's been counting calories, I've been craving sweets lately.  

I tried it and managed to only eat half in order to form my opinion.  The flavor I received was "S'MORES."  All in all, it was very good.  It reminded me very much of some yummy treats that Mom used to put in my lunch as a kid.  Thank goodness they didn't print nutritional information on the packages back then.  ;-)  

My sweet tooth was very satisfied with only half of a KAKE and my brain was satisfied with half of the calories.  As for the taste (S'MORES flavor)... it was pretty good.  

What would I change?  1) It has a graham cracker crumble on the top but I was slightly disappointed that the cake didn't have more of a graham cracker-y flavor, 2) Cut the KAKE in half for those of us watching our weight.

I'd give it a B+ overall.  Just my random opinion.

I love this app!  I use it on my computer and on my iPhone.  I wanted an app that would assist me in making better food choices and would keep me honest.  This is it!

I have been using MyFitnessPal daily for the past 72 days.  I log everything I eat and drink in an attempt to stay under a certain calorie goal.  And in 72 days, I've lost 10 pounds.

But the best part... When I find myself in the midst of a major craving or when I just have the munchies, I look up the food that I'm considering putting in my mouth (and then directly to my gut and hips) and am faced with the cold hard truth about where it will or won't fit into my daily calorie intake.  More often than not, I put the junk food down.  YAY ME!

I have several friends who are also using MFP and we touch base weekly within the app to encourage each other and help each other back onto the clean eating band wagon.  

I highly recommend this app for anyone trying to make a positive change in their eating habits.

It's Memorial Day 2013. While you pause to remember those men and women who've stood with valor to defend our country and lost their lives in battle, please remember those who made it home. Those who made it back from the battle field and worked to pay taxes and live the American dream only to succumb to a service related illness 30+ years later. Men and women like my dad. He was a proud American and a true patriot who paid the ultimate price for serving his country. So today, I say, "Thank You." Thank you to all of the men and women and their families who have sacrificed for our freedom.

Striiv Play Update

Hmmmm... did I share my love of this little device too soon? 

Somehow, I managed to get it stuck in "Airplane Mode."  So now, half of yesterday's steps weren't counted and anything that I racked up this morning... gone.

I've reset it and I guess time will tell.

I got my Striiv Play Pedometer on Friday and I've used it every day since.  I'm in serious like with this little gadget. I find myself checking several times a day to see my step count and even find that I'm not so put out when I have to get up and walk "all the way to the printer," because guess what... that will give me more steps!

Pros and cons are listed below.  All in all it's getting a thumbs up but that's just MyRandomOpinion.

PROS:

1) It links with My Fitness Pal and a neat little app on my iPhone

2) Display is easy to read

3) It keeps track of steps, stairs, distance, and time

4) I charged it fully on Friday night and haven't had to charge it at all yet

5) It let's me challenge and be challenged by my friends who have the Striiv Play

CONS:

1) It's VERY sensitive.  Driving in the car and going over bumps gives me TONS of steps.  So, for now, I'm turning it off when I get in the car.

2) While the app is nice, it's a little overly animated

3) I don't have any friends who have the Striiv Play... YET!

INSPIRATIONAL!

The Peace Love + Harmony concert was last night at The Southern Theater in Columbus, Ohio.  The Harmony Choir is made up of 200 people who just want to help, make a difference, and SING!  There are no auditions for the choir.  You want to be in it... just show up and practice.  I'm told that the good voices drown out the bad, which says to me... I'M IN!  2014 Harmony Choir... look out - I'm comin' for ya!

I encourage you all to look at the many ways that The Harmony Project affects the community and then I encourage you to get involved.

It's so true.  I've been through so much in the past 5 years and I've experienced so many new things (some good, some... not so good).  But, through it all, I've learned so much about my self and just how strong I truly am.
