I'm not trying to clear her name. I'm trying to point out that the telegraph, which is not a paper that cares about social mobility, has written an outrage bait headline.

I am not surprised that the billionaire daughter of a journalist got a place on a journalism mentorship scheme.

Mentorships schemes within industries are usually given to people who already work in those industries, unless the scheme is an "entrance" or "access" scheme.

This means its going to be picking from a pool that has already got their foot in the door - which is much easier if you already have the connections and background that she does.

I am glad that the charity changed their focus to being about social mobility, TV production and journalism in particular is filled with privately educated tories.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was after they noticed that the applicants were all like her that they decided to refocus.
