COMING TO THE LIGHT
Do you want to live in the light or darknesss? If you are in darkness, you cannot do what is right because you cannot see what you are doing.
THE MEANING OF LIGHT
Light is the opposite of darkness. Darkness is the absence of light. Before God created anything, there was total darknesss. (Gen. 1). When God created light, he divided light and darkness and called light as day and darkness as night. The reason we have day is because of the light. It makes vision possible. When we realized truth, we call it enlightenment.
WHAT OR WHO IS REFERRED TO AS THE LIGHT?
Jesus is the living word, John 1:1-9.
The word of God is light and lamp, Psalm 119:105.
WHY WE NEED THE LIGHT
We need to know the Savior, Jesus.
We need to know the truth about salvation, 2 Tim. 3: 15.
We need to walk in the light, 1 John 1: 5-9.
WHY PEOPLE WON'T COME TO THE LIGHT
They loved darkness, v. 19.
-- What is darkness? Why do people love darkness? Is there advantages in it?
Their deeds are evil v. 19.
-- Evil is the opposite of good. Whatever is not good is evil. Sin is transgression of the law, 1 John 3: 4. It is doing your own way instead of God's way, Isaiah 55: 7. It is disobedience.
They do not want reproof or correction. v. 20.
They do not want their sin to be exposed. They do not want to show what is true. They are unwilling to change. They do not want to be corrected.
They hate the light. They are easily offended when corrected. Prov. 9:7-10. They love the pleasure of sin. Heb 11: 25. They want to please self not God.
WHO WOULD COME TO THE LIGHT.
Those who were enlightened and were able to comprehend the truth, John 1: 5.
Those who believe the light (john 1: 7).
Those who change their mind from loving sin to loving the truth, Repentance.
Those who receive and believe Jesus, John 1: 12.
Those who want to know the truth , examine self, Psalm 139: 23-24.
WHAT BENEFITS DO WE GET FROM THE LIGHT
It will show us the truth, John 17: 17
It will guide us, Psalm 119: 105.
It will enable us to see our mistakes, sins and faults , James 1: 22-25.
It will help us to grow and improve.
Example: Thread and Needle
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU REJECT THE LIGHT
You will have no direction, John 12: 35.
You will remain in darkness.
You will be blinded by sin and pride.
Luke 18: 18; John 12: 43
If you know the truth, you will not care what people will say but you care what God says.

IN OUR CHRISTIAN JOURNEY
Tumblr media
I.  WE MUST DESIRE TO FOLLOW GOD
The desire of every born of God, 2 Cor.5:17; 1 John 2:3-4
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:3-4 KJV)
The desire to grow spiritually, 2 Peter 3: 18; James 1:22; Heb.5:13-14
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18 KJV)
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22 KJV)
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:13-14 KJV)
The desire to be blessed, Psalm 37:3-4
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalms 37:3-4 KJV)
II.  WE MUST BE AWARE OF PITFALLS
Satan, 1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8 KJV) Sin, Gal. 5:1;2 Peter 2:20
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1 KJV) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (2 Peter 2:20 KJV) Man, 1 Cor. 7:23; Job 2:9; Luke 9:62; Eph. 6:6
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. (1 Corinthians 7:23 KJV)
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (Job 2:9-10 KJV)
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:62 KJV)
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; (Ephesians 6:6 KJV)
III.  WE MUST BELIEVE GOD’S WORD
God’s word is sure, Heb 6: 17; Psa. 105:8
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: (Hebrews 6:17 KJV) He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. (Psalms 105:8 KJV) God’s word is true, Psa. 12:6; 18:30;33:4
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalms 12:6 KJV)
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. (Psalms 18:30 KJV)
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. (Psalms 33:4 KJV) God’s word gives direction, Psa. 119:67
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. (Psalms 119:67 KJV)
God’s word brings comfort  (Psalms 119:50 KJV)
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. (Psalms 119:50 KJV)
----
In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. (Psalms 56:10 KJV)
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. (Psalms 119:16 KJV)

True repentance of the prodigal son
Tumblr media
And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. (Luke 15:11-32 KJV)
I.  THE DEMAND OF THE YOUNGER SON.
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. (Luke 15:12 KJV)
The younger son demanded
The father granted his request though he did not approve of the son’s attitude.
II.  THE CONSEQUENCE OF WRONG DECISION:
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. (Luke 15:13-16 KJV)
Wrong Direction “Took his journey”
Wrong Company
Wasted his substance
Riotous living, disorderly life
Needs not supplied - “began to be in want”
Hardship and difficulty - sent him to the fields to feed swine
Hunger -  “have his belly filled with husks”
No man gave to him
III.  THE EVIDENCE OF TRUE REPENTANCE
Realization, “he came to himself”, Luke 15: 17
Sorrow, “I perish with hunger” v. 17
Change of mind - “I have sinned against heaven....” Luke 15:18
Act of the Will - “I will” Luke 18: 15
Humility , “I am no more worthy”, Luke 15: 19
IV. THE RESPONSE OF A LOVING FATHER
Forgiveness
Love
Rejoicing
Celebrated
Gave the best
V.  THE ATTITUDE OF A SELF RIGHTEOUS PERSON
Demanding honor
Demanding celebration
Demanding privileges

FORMED FOR HIS GLORY
GOD FORMED US WONDERFULLY
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalms 139:14)
FORMED FOR HIS GLORY
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (2 Corinthians 4:7)
TO BE FORMED PURPOSELY WE NEED TO BE HUMBLE
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. (2 Timothy 2:20)
GOD STILL CAN FORM US EVEN IN OUR FAILURES
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

ADVENTURES OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
Tumblr media
By Edwin Jardinel
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
-Romans 8:37
·          The Christian life as some thought is boring and dull.
·          However, Jesus said that he came to give us life and abundantly.
o    The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. -John 10:10
o    It is therefore an adventure, exciting, and joyful life.
·          The Lord promised as victory.
o    Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, -Philippians 3:13
o    Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. -1 John 4:4
o    For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. -1 John 5:4
           I.            THE ADVENTURE BEGINS WITH CHRIST.

c.         It is challenging to disciple others. 2 Tim.2:2, Mark 3: 13-14; Acts 4: 13
d.         It is challenging to overcome every obstacle, 1 John 4: 4
III.            THE ADVENTURE REQUIRES US TO HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

An Excellent Spirit
HUMBLE
Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation. -Daniel 5:12
FAITHFUL
Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. -Daniel 6:4
PRAYERFUL
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.-Daniel 6:10
WISE
There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; -Daniel 5:11
I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. -Daniel 5:14

RESCUE THE PERISHING
By Edwin Jardinel
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
-Luke 4:18
 I.                    BECAUSE THEY ARE CAPTIVES
 A.      OF SATAN
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
-2 Corinthians 4:4
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
-John 8:44
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
-2 Timothy 2:26
 B.      OF SIN
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
-John 8:34
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
-2 Peter 2:19
 C.      OF MEN
Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
-1 Corinthians 7:23
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
-Psalms 118:8
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
-Psalms 1:1-3
 II.                  BECAUSE THEY ARE DOOMED
 A.      BLINDED
And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
-Luke 6:39
  B.      BOUND TO HELL
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
-Romans 6:23
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
-Revelation 21:8
 III.                BECAUSE THERE IS SALVATION
  A.      IN THE WORK OF CHRIST
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
-1 Peter 2:24
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  B.      IN CHRIST ALONE BY FAITH
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  -John 14:6
 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
-1 Timothy 2:5
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
-Ephesians 2:8-9
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

”God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble”
Bakit nga ba?
1.  HIndi nag aaral ng salita ng Dios — 2 Tim. 2: 15
2.  Hindi lumalago ang kanilang kaalaman — 2 Pet. 3: 18, we should grow in knowledge….
3.  Hindi nakikinig — We must hear sermons from God’s word, Rom. 10: 17
4.  Hindi nagbabasa araw araw — We must be nourished daily with God’s word, Mat. 4: 4; 1 Pet. 2: 2
5.  Hindi sinusunod ang natutunan — We must obey what we learned from God’s word, James 1: 22
6. hindi nagpapakumbaba kapag itinutuwid — Prov. 26: 12; 16: 18
7. Hindi sumasama sa marunong mag bahagi- Prov 13: 20

Laboring Together in Building God's Church
In Romans 8: 37, it is stated: "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us." (Romans 8:37).  Such words are very challenging.  We are more than conquerors!  The very purpose of our lives is to glorify and live for Him.
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
(Philippians 1:21)
THINK OF HAVING A VISION FOR THE MINISTRY
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. (Proverbs 29:18)
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
(2 Corinthians 4:1)
THINK OF THE ABILITY GOD HAS GIVEN YOU TO BUILD
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(Ephesians 4:8-12)
We must know, discover and develop the abilities that God has given us to build the ministry, the church.
Some of the gifts that God has given to the church has already ceased such as the office of the apostles and prophets when the Bible was completed.  (I Cor. 13: 8,10, James 1: 25).
Some pastors serve as missionaries and evangelists to start a new church while others focused on teaching in an old church.  Church members can be of great help to pastors and missionaries if they know their god-given abilities, and if they have a heart to help in the ministry.
THINK OF QUALITY MATERIALS
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
(Isaiah 28:16)
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
(1 Peter 2:5-6)
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
(Luke 1:17)
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
(Matthew 3:1-3)
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
(1 Corinthians 3:11-15)
THINK ABOUT QUALITY WORKS
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
(1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
(1 Corinthians 3:10)
Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:
(Romans 15:20)
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(2 Timothy 4:2)
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
(Galatians 6:7-8)
