Explanation of chapter 5

Turns out Kaito and Himiko planned to interrogate Ouma by poisoning him and would only give the antidote if Ouma answers to his sins,

 but Maki fucked everything up and planned to kill Ouma with an poisoned arrow,

 Kaito blocked the shot and eventually both were poisoned. 

The poison eventually caused Ouma to lose all senses and he gave the antidote to Kaito and together they finally worked together to save Maki from execution and to die together. Ouma let himself get crushed by the press and Kaito, wounded, tried to get to the trial room but Monokuma was trying to rig the trial so Kaito would not make it in time or would die from his wounds so he could get Maki executed for the murder of both of them. Kaito made it just in time and got executed saving the person he loved most.
