I remember I once visited a Catholic church with my Catholic ex-girlfriend when in our country's capital and I said ''Oh how neat! They depict the story of Jesus on the wall through paintings'' and she said ''Duh, yeah, they do that in every church, they have that everywhere, but this is indeed very nicely executed'' and for the longest time I thought I was just really blind and had not been paying attention all those times I went to a church before this moment, sure that I may have only seen this once or twice before, but definitely not every time. But as she was more of a regular church-goer, I decided to just take the L for my ignorance.

Cue to when I went to a Protestant Church for Christmas last year and I suddenly remembered that I did, in fact, know what a church looks like, but grew up in a majority Protestant area. We grew up 10 kilometres apart, but she grew up in a Catholic town and I grew up in an Dutch-Orthodox Christian/Reformed Protestant town. On that very afternoon in Amsterdam, I think we both forgot about that part.
