I own the place.

I own and operate a comic book store in a heavily trafficked mall.  The customer doesn’t approve of a toy her son bought, so she wants a refund.  But I can’t resell it now because it’s open.  So she has a fit, because I won’t take it back.  Wants to speak to my manager.  I tell her I am the manager.  Not good enough for her, wants to speak to my boss.  Sorry, I don’t have one of those.  So she insists of complaining to my corporate owner.  I show her the receipt, where the owner’s phone number is.  She calls it in front of me to get me in deep doo-doo.  She is stunned when my personal cell phone rings, and holy shit, I am the owner.  

Then she wants mall security’s phone number because they’ll want to know my policies are bad.  So I gave her mall security’s number, because I’m pretty sure they won’t give a flying fuck.

So she waits for security, and no they don’t give a fuck.  She claims she won’t leave until I give her a refund.  Security tells her if she’s not gone from my store in 60 seconds, they’re calling the police.

Happy ending for me but aggravating it took so long to get there.

tbh I don’t see the fuss about having waiters/waitresses not being happy and enthusiastic like I came here to eat I didn’t come here to be amused by employees as long as I’m getting my food and they’re not being blatantly rude I don’t see why y’all need to go on yelp to rank a restaurant 0/5 and have an outburst on why your waitress didn’t smile at you when she poured you water

Why Do You Hide?

Maybe it’s because people don’t even believe me when I tell them I’m sick.

Maybe it’s because I can feel people become uncomfortable when I talk about it.

Maybe it’s because I’m tired of having to disclose extremely personal medical information to random people.

Maybe it’s because I’ve had people I love doubt me.

Maybe it’s because I’ve had doctors doubt me.

Maybe it’s because I’m looked down upon when I need help.

Maybe it’s because of all of the times it’s been implied that I’m just not trying hard enough to get better.

Maybe it’s because it’s easier to pretend I’m okay than it is to explain that I am in fact in pain this very minute even though I’m out of the house because if I didn’t do anything every time I was in pain I would literally never do anything because I am in pain every minute of every day.

Maybe it’s because I’ve had my sanity questioned when I try to open up.

Maybe it’s because I’m terrified of the harassment I would face if I identified myself as disabled.

Maybe it’s because I know you’ll never understand unless you experience it (and I would never want you to).

Maybe it’s because I’m so f*cking sick of hearing the judgment in healthy people’s voices. 

Maybe it’s because society has made me feel that disabled people are lesser than able-bodied people.

Maybe it’s because I don’t feel important enough for anyone to care.

Maybe it’s because I feel like nobody would want to be around me if they knew how bad things really are.

August 14 2017 - Protesters in Durham, North Carolina decide to take matters into their own hands and take down a confederate statue. 

The statue represented a soldier who fought in the Civil War and an inscription on the front read “The Confederate States of America.” 

One organizer of the protest told WNCN that toppling the statue was in response to the violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. this weekend.“It needs to be removed,” organizer Loan Tran told the news station. “These Confederate statues in Durham, in North Carolina, all across the country.” [video]

Ok, so, I’m all for the removal of confederate statues and all, but it seems weird to me that after the death of eight black people, the cities drug their feet and complained about “heritage” but are now swiftly removing them after the death of one white woman. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t do it now, better late than never I suppose, but it is interesting that this is what it took
