joining the pitt fandom at such a crux of busy in my life when I have no time to write is so devastating bc none of my pitt followers know what a horny little stoner prose freak writer I am 😞
#but in a bonkers turn of events I may have a full three days with no pressing activities and maybe I can churn out a little sex pollen-esque#pitt fic that literally no one but me would want 😌

content warning for the links: homophobia, pro-life advocacy, and religious fundamentalism.
there are credible receipts that tracy ifeachor belongs to a homophobic, pro-conversion therapy church that's pretty big among african immigrant communities in england. i'm not going to go any further into this but i know people who have been traumatized by this church and this pastor particularly. i really hope she finds her way out soon.

link 2
#the more i hear the more good riddance i feel#that third link claims she left season 1 early bc she tried to get the abortion storyline changed 🤢#conversion 'therapy' exorcisms and pro lifers in general are terrifying#the pitt drama#tracy ifeachor church scum

something so interesting to me is when langdon is trying to weasel his way out of the conversation with robby regarding why he yelled at santos and robby pushes back. but robby isn’t even defending santos. i thought he was going to tell langdon something like “it’s not me you need to apologize to, you need to apologize to santos.” but NO robby is angry that langdon is lacking in leadership/teaching ability. he’s angry that langdon is disappointing him, not about the impact langdon’s outburst made on santos. it’s actually so insidious.
#it's so heinously mirrored in the fandom reaction fawning over langdon and 'i just didn't like santos from the start' 🤢#the LOOK on santos' face when langdon comes back in during the shooting#she's angry but she's scared she knows she's in danger by how much leeway that man has

i can’t stand “it’s not that deep” attitudes like even if it really really isn’t that deep just PLAY WITH ME. just fucking PLAY. have a meaningless but deep analytical conversation with me. just like think about shit for fun. does anyone else like to think about stuff for fun. it’s so lonely
#'it's not that deep' also conveniently dilutes the existence of systematical oppression most of the time so it's really a good#trigger word to disregard someone's entire opinion

the true horror of the Pitt is realizing that Mel is living in a perpetual time loop week that culminates in her watching Elf.

I'm seeing some 'not loving how the Pitt portrays emotional anti-science women' posts get some traction and without hijacking the ones that are already out there bc it's great stuff to get highlighted, I'm going to do a little spiel here: It's not so simple to say that The Pitt is portraying women as being overly emotional and anti-intellectual because the writing is sexist. These women and these dynamics absolutely exist in abundance and it's because of systematical oppression. Take a look at the mother whose son ate the pot gummies - she has her whole household locked down tight, no chemicals, nothing 'harmful', then her brother gives her husband some weed that he doesn't even attempt to keep out of reach of his child. This woman is the sole bearer of the entire emotional labour in their household while her husband isn't sparing it a second thought. This is a byproduct of the patriarchy. Take a look at the measles mother who is against the doctors 'poking holes in her son' who is at risk of dying of a deadly infection. Her husband is going along with her decisions not to vaccinate, her decisions not to seek medical care, her call to not do more invasive testing... until a man in authority comes in and tells him to do otherwise. These women are carrying the weight of making every single minute decision for their children. I guarantee you their husbands don't know the children's schedules, or any of their teachers names, or where to find their passports or medical records. This is not as simple as a woman being loud and aggressive and anti-medicine, this is a result of 'woman are the child rearers! A woman's job is to raise the kids and that's it!' It's also speaking to the physical pressure that women carry when it comes to the health of their kids. Everything they do or don't do during pregnancy is their responsibility, and it's also their responsibility to seek out that information and good luck with weeding out what's real and what's not. Just look at the demographics of people against vaccination and how they correlate with areas that are more conservative when it comes to child rearing and reproductive health. Then we have the sister whose elderly father is dying. She wants to go against his wishes and prolong her time with him - not because she wants him to suffer, but because she hasn't processed how she didn't get enough time with him while he was healthy - because she was a daughter. Her brother got all the quality time he could have wished for, and her resistance to her father's end of life is her inability to accept the fact that their experiences were so different. Favouritism of children based on sex is yet another sexist byproduct of the patriarchy.
It's disingenuous to want media to have exclusively favourable portrayals of women. It's absolutely the right move to talk about it and call it out and find the cause, but it's pretty deeply rooted in reality. The Pitt has got pretty dope representation for different types of people and is for the majority repping highly educated, empathetic, and strong willed female characters. There's a great show of women uplifting each other. It also depicts male hostility and violence in abundance. In fact most of the unregulated emotions and dramatic outbursts are from men (Nick's father confronting a hospitalized teenage girl, David depicting the 'male lonliness epidemic', Doug being hostile, racist, and both verbally and physically violent, Robby shouting/swearing at multiple staff throughout the day and fully breaking down, Langdon's paranoia and freakout at Santos and later Robby, we see a male patient screaming and running naked through the halls, a male psyche patient with a history of assaulting staff do it again,....)
