Detroit: Become Human - Nalu

this is my submission for the @nalugruviaevents !! @alduin-draws was my partner I wrote this months ago and hate it dearly lol

There were times Lucy didn’t quite understand Natsu, she knew if she asked he'd be honest with her, he always was, and the fact it was written into his code to be truthful to his owner was something she couldn’t ignore.

Natsu was a unique android, one made special for her per her father's’ request. Her father thought she deserved better than just a regular AX400. After all Her father, Jude, was the CEO of Cyberlife, the cheapest model of android just wasn’t good enough for his precious daughter. He'd had Natsu programmed to be able to take care of Lucy's every need, despite her insisting she could do half of those things herself and did not want to become reliant on robots to do basic tasks.

She'd had Natsu a little over three years now, and even though she knew deep down he was incapable of having his own thoughts and feelings, she just couldn’t treat him like a slave. Maybe it was the fact he looked, sounded and felt like a human. Or maybe it was her mother's voice in the back of her head telling her to treat her possessions and others with respect. She’d always thank Natsu for his service even though she was often ridiculed for it, she couldn't fathom how others could live in good conscious knowing that they treated others with disrespect. She treated him like a friend, a close friend, maybe even something more than just friends. It was something her father had expressed his distaste for on many occasions. 

Logically she knew it was silly to think that way and feel that way towards a robot, essentially a hunk of metal and plastic combined, but she couldn’t help it. He made her feel safe and cared for, which was silly really because she knew it was in his code to care for her. Since when could something non human treat her with such a gentleness not even humans could rival? 

Despite all of her conflicting feelings, Lucy was certain that something more was going on inside his head. When someone referred to him as a useless piece of plastic or made fun of the fact something so human looking had no thought whatsoever, she was sure she'd seen a sad look on his face. When she’d ask him to watch romantic comedies with her his laugh sounded genuine. The smile he wore when she woke up next to him seemed real. She almost forgot that he was an android when they were left alone, it was until they’d get a little too close, a little too personal, that the flashing of his LED, usually red in these moments, broke her out of her fantasies, ones that couldn’t possibly come true.

Things only got stranger once her father had announced he was looking for a potential suitor for her. Natsu seemed irritable, whenever a suitor asked for a drink Natsu would mess up and put salt in it instead of sugar, or he would always correct them if they used a word incorrectly, disrupting them with the full definition he pulled from the dictionary. It was amusing to Lucy sure, but if he kept this disobedience up he was for sure going to be reset.

She mentioned it to him once, telling him to be careful. “Don’t worry, Luce.” Is all he’d said. She remembered staring at him, eyes wide. She hadn’t told him to call her that, ever. He was coded to refer to her as “Lucy” Or “Miss Heartfilia”. She'd asked him to repeat himself, he hadn’t. Natsu changed the subject entirely. Telling her it was late and it was time she rested. She had reluctantly agreed, liking the thought of them cuddling up together in bed too much to pressure him for a answer- something her father had not and will not find out about any time soon.

Things only went downhill from there, Natsu got more confident in messing with the suitors. Everyday he’d push the boundaries a tiny bit more, whether it be with the suitors or Lucy. It seemed as if he was gently and slowly trying to get Lucy warmed up to the idea that he was more aware than everyone thought possible for a robot. Not wanting to frighten her. It was working. Although Lucy knew that it should scare her, it didn’t. No matter how alive Natsu seemed to be becoming, Lucy knew that Natsu wouldn’t harm her. He'd always protected her.

It was a run in with a potential husband that fully ended up awakening him.

“Miss Heartfilia, would you be so kind as to join me for dinner tonight?” Her newest suitor inquired as he raked his gaze over her frame, making her cringe slightly.

“Oh, I’d be honoured to join you for dinner this evening,” Was that sarcasm in her voice? Oh definitely. She could list many things she’d rather spend her time doing instead of dining with this sleaze.

“I’m incredibly sorry to interrupt, but Miss Heartfilia has plans this evening,” She could feel Natsu approaching from where he’d been ordered to stand, giving her a discreet pat on the back as he came to stand beside her. “She has to catch up on her Science coursework, Jude would be devastated to find that Lucy had been slacking on her studies, Especially since he has declared that Lucy will be taking over CyberLife in the near future”.

Lucy could barely contain the smile threatening to break free, of course Natsu wouldn’t allow her to be left on her own with this man, she was his and his alone.

“This isn’t about you,” He took four steps forward until he was right up in Natsu's face, an amusing sight really, considering how Natsu seemed to tower over him. “Miss Heartfilia would much rather spend her time with a real person than a plastic prick like you,”

“I’m sorry Sir, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave now. You are causing a disturbance.”

“Me? A disturbance? Says the hunk of screws that interrupted our conversation,” He let out a grumble before forcefully pushing Natsu to the side like a piece of garbage. Natsu lost his footing and slammed right to the ground. This was bad. Lucy knew something was immediately wrong once she caught sight of Natsu's LED flashing bright red at an alarming pace.

He didn’t allow Natsu to stand, gripping onto his hair and shoving his face towards the polished floor of the ballroom- something that was sure to cause serious damage to his system.

“Are you really going to take that Natsu?” He could hear her sniffling, fighting against the tears he so despised to see. He knew she hated to see his kind treated this way. “Defend yourself Natsu! and get him the hell out of here!”

He didn’t need to be told twice. Bouncing to his feet he jerked himself forward through the pixelated wall only he could see, one that told him to never lay a hand on a human and cause harm. He threw his hand forward, shattering the wall with just one push. It seemed to him pushing little boundaries with Lucy and screwing with the suitors had weakened his coded ‘morals’.

He was successful in gripping onto the shoulder of the other man and once he secured his hold, he practically dragged him through the ballroom into the foyer. He threw his hand on the computer screen that unlocked the front door and shoved him with a force unrivalled to any human.

“Get the fuck outta here before I alert the cops, asshole.” He slammed the front door closed, although not without missing the stunned and horrified expression on the former suitors face. A smug grin lit up his features as he realized he’d finally done it, he'd broken through the barrier. Now he had full control over his words and actions. He couldn’t wait to shower Lucy in the affection she deserved.

Sooo, since I’m total noob at Tumblr and I’m trying to give my artist partner the credit she deserves…Let’s just assume I’mma do this the cheap way. Recently, I got involved in something called a Big Bang Event hosted by @nalugruviaevents. The event partnered a writer with an artist and together they were challenged to create something new for either NaLu or Gruvia. Most anyone who’s read my stuff knows I’m a diehard NaLu through and through. So yeah, challenge set, I met the artist @grossularia and I laid out the idea for the story. Gruvia Big Bang Event Fic

Finally! The day has come where I get to post my fic for the Nalu/Gruvia Big Bang @nalugruviaevents​ and I’m so excited. @solafhusain​ and I decided on a 1940s/50s AU. It has been so wonderful working with you, friend! Your art is beautiful and it was a so great to be paired with you for this event. I hope we can collaborate some other time as well.

Also, thank you @rieriebee​ for helping us out with this and working with us to figure this all out. I know it was weird because I came in a little late so your patience and your help has been wonderful!

New Normal

The house was quiet and dark. Gray pulled off his boots even before shutting the door behind him. Juvia was already halfway up the stairs by the time he managed to reach out and pull the little string to turn on the old side-table lamp.

“Where are you going?”  He asked. Juvia paused at the top of the stairs. He could just see her heels and legs from where he stood, and the edge of her dance skirt—blue, her favorite color.

“To bed,” she mumbled, before continuing down the hall, her heels clacking on the hardwood.

“That’s just swell,” Gray huffed, tossing his military-issued coat across the couch. The last thing he needed was his wife frustrated with him. Pulling the string once more, he plunged the living room into darkness and followed Juvia upstairs to the master bedroom. She was sitting on their bed, her dress already undone. Her satin sleeves were slipped off her shoulders, and she was carefully putting her pearl necklace away in her jewelry drawer. He watched her for a moment, wanting so badly to say something—anything—to break the dreadful silence, but nothing came to mind. When she dabbed away her bright red lipstick, it smeared across her cheek and that feeling in the pit of Gray’s stomach—that twisting, nauseous feeling—returned. Blood. He quickly looked away.

Juvia crawled into bed, but Gray sat on the edge, staring at the old picture on the wall. He, Natsu, Gajeel, Laxus, Jellal, and their Platoon.

It’s a day when guys struggle the most. Coming up with gifts for their loved ones is never easy and Gray is out of ideas. However, in Natsu’s case, he forgot about the holiday completely. How will the girls react?

White Day

This story was written for the @nalugruviaevents aka the Big Bang Event! For the Event, I’ve worked together with @danyinks ! While she drew, I wrote! Here’s the link to her work:

Romance - White Day. It’s a day when guys struggle the most. Coming up with gifts for their loved ones is never easy and Gray is out of ideas. However, in Natsu’s case, he forgot about the holiday COMPLETELY. How will the girls react?

Since the beginning, Natsu was always the forgetful type. Happy’s birthday? Forgotten. Erza’s birthday? Forgotten, gets a beat down the next day. Lucy’s 1st anniversary of being in Fairy Tail? If it weren’t for Cana, he’d forget that too. Still, during White Day, when Magnolia’s stores are glimmering with shiny white chocolate, as well as other gifts with bows on it, Lucy’d think that he’d remember.

The day before White Day, Natsu and Lucy (alongside Happy as always) took a stroll around the many, many, MANY stores with the theme of the upcoming holiday as Lucy tried her best to make him remember. She attempted to show him all the white objects: from Happy’s white wings, to the white castle like building at the center of Magnolia to the white snow that was falling on the ground that day.

Hours later, Natsu was still confused. “Why is Lucy so obsessed with white?” he thought. That’s when it hit him. Literally. Lucy’s snowball hit a side from his head, making his hair wet. She was determined to make him more aware of the situation he’s in. His girlfriend was ready to fight him.

“Natsu, you idiot!” She had no choice. She jumped on him, strangling his neck and latching onto him with her legs. “How could you forget?!” Letting herself go, Lucy’s eyes glimmered, with tears streaming down her face. “L-Luce, please don’t cry! I-I’ll do anything!” Without uttering a single word, she pointed at the caffe. White Day was spread all across the stores’ windows. Then he finally realized. There was a day like this. A day when all the guys give out white chocolate to their girlfriends. Why did he forget? It was so important to Lucy and he knew it. Putting his forgetfullness aside, he didn’t want to make her cry ever again.

The two entered the caffe. Natsu smelled cinnamon, strawberries, vanilla and, of course, chocolates. The caffe was small, with only three sets of chairs and tables, with a big showcase with chocolate themed sweets.

As they entered the caffe, Lucy’s eyes sparkled. Natsu couldn’t have been happier seeing. “Lucy…” he mumbled. She looked deeply into his eyes, knowing what he was going to say. “I’m sorry” he said. “I knew how this was so important to you, yet I…” At that, the blonde girl approached him, kissing his lips. “No, I’ m sorry.” she looked away, looking guilty. “I know romance is not your thing. I just wanted to go on a date. But I don’t like forcing you so let’s just… go somewhere else.”

Her face was swollen from the tears, they couldn’t hide her current lies. He knew all too well that, for today at least, he had to suck it up. Cupping her cheek, their eyes were locked. “We’ll stay.”

For the rest of the day, the two ate some chocolate together at the caffe.

Gray Fullbuster considered himself as one of the best boyfriends in Magnolia. Even in the whole wide world. Since Juvia and him started dating, all he did was shower her with love. Now, on this day, he held the chocolate in his hands. But, for him, that wasn’t enough.

The biggest thing he has done was her was commit suicide in exchange for her life. He thought a mere box wasn’t enough. After all, last month Juvia gave him a chocolate statue of the both of them! Ever since then he tried making something with his Ice Make magic.

His mind was blank. There were either too many or no ideas in his head. Should he make a bracelet? A necklace? Should he just give up and only give her chocolate? But in that case, Juvia might get the idea that Gray’s either cheating or doesn’t love her as much as she loves him. If it were a competition, he would be losing.

Behind the bar where Gray sat at, Mirajane was starring at him intently. “Gray. Are you alright?” she spoke. His face was so bleak it made her jitter. “Sorry…” he said, his voice hoarse. “I don’t know what to give to Juvia.”

Mirajane looked at him oddly. “What about the chocolate you’re holding?” she pestered him on purpose, but he didn’t budge. She stopped after seeing him try to make something Ice Make and stop. He repeated the process three times. “You don’t think the chocolate’s enough?”

Those words struck him. He frowned. “Despite knowing I’m in love with her, Juvia can still be insecure at times. That’s why I qamted to give her something that would remind her that I’ll always be by her side, even when I’m not there.”

Hearing those words made Mira smile. She decided to help him out, brainstorming in her head. That’s when it hit her. “Why not just make her a glass-like heart?” she said.

He looked at his friend in utter disbelief. Why didn’t I think of that he thought. He immediatelly made heart shaped ice, small like a pin but big enough to hold it with his two hands. “Well?”

That’s when Juvia looked at the two talking. “Gray-sama. Is she my new love rival?” Juvia’s rage filled the guild, it made everyone fear for their life. “Juvia, wait! The pin is for you!” Juvia quickly switched her mood, from upset to cheerful. She hugged Gray from behind, taking the pin from his hands.

“Gray-sama, it’s beautiful. I love it!” Juvia starred at it and all Gray did was kiss her cheek. “Happy White Day, Juvia.” She let him go to cup her cheeks, accidentally dropping her gift. Before she started to apologize, he already made her another one.

Burning Up, Burnt Out

This is my work for the Nalu and Gruvia big bang @nalugruviaevents! I worked alongside @yaushie, who made the beautiful art to go with the fan fiction I wrote. Thanks to @celestial-fire-writer for being beta once again. Summary:  Set in the year after Alvarez and before Lucy’s book signing. The team is on a mission to help a native village on a island, but the celebrations afterwards leave Natsu to do some deep thinking about a certain celestial wizard that won’t seem to leave his mind.

The fire roared as cinders rose up in the night much like fireflies, stars gleamed in the night sky and the air tasted of smoked meat as the villagers threw their offerings into the large pit of wicked flames. The people cried out as they rejoiced, clapping their hands to the beats played by the drums. The women with sultry eyes moved around the flames like conspiring Wiccans, rising the spirits from the curling fire as they swayed their bodies in erotic and enticing ways. They stretched their arms high and grinded their hips, flicking their legs high in the air as they jumped to then push down and again use their footwork to circle around the fire.

The men sitting at the edge of the cluster of celebration hollered at the women as their skirts sashayed with their sensuous movements. Their tight bandeau leaving the skin of their midriffs exposed and subject to their hungry gazes of wonder and amazement. Many of them would stray just enough from their tight knit group of dancers to caress the cheek of a surrounding watcher, enticing and drawing them in with their deep gazes until they would lean forward in their daze. Then the women would skip back to join the large burning fire - leaving the crowd breathless and entranced. It was a game of cat and mouse and they were teasing minxes.

Natsu, like many others of the audience, watched on. His dark eyes were drawn into the soft exposed skin covered in a soft sheen of sweat, the strong and long legs that kicked up and the way their breasts were barely concealed in an orange fabric that was lined with gold trim. However, it wasn’t all the dancers that grabbed hold of his gaze. It was the billowing blonde hair that caught his breath, the deep brown eyes that occasionally glanced his way. Lucy, who was twisting and turning amongst the other women, had called him in. Her body stirred something in the pit of his stomach as she seemed to move with the fire, embodying the way the flames flickered and curled behind her.

He was completely enraptured. The thrum of the drums and strum of strings reverberating through his body, cutting off the noise of villagers who joined in the festival. Natsu couldn’t tear his gaze from her being, and he knew she had noticed his unwavering stare on her. Lucy grinded her hips more to the music, arched her back just a little bit further to uncover the view of the delicious skin of her neck, but it was her eyes - the way she peered up at him through thick lashes with flushed cheeks - that made him swallow hard and realise that he had been caught.

She knew he was captivated. Her eyes twinkled with mischief as she spun on her feet in rhythm, the deep brown hue making him their victim once again as he was locked in her gaze. He couldn’t count on both his hands and feet how many times her eyes had persuaded him and made his knees weak, lungs breathless - the way they shone when she smiled, crinkling slightly at the side, and sparkling like the stars she beckoned to her side in battle. It was especially painful when they would break in front of him, becoming watery and fragile. Those were times Natsu was lost, when he felt smaller and more vulnerable than when Igneel had disappeared. He couldn’t fight away her sadness. It made him… confused. His heart would feel like stone in his chest as if it had stopped beating and would tumble from its bone cage, a feeling in his throat that threatened to choke him.

Summary: In exchange for the lives of her friends, Lucy makes a deal with Zeref: to spare their lives so he can have the happy family he wanted. The price? Their memories of her are wiped away and it’s like she never existed. For one year, she’s trapped in the old Heartfilia mansion with nothing but the painful memories of her past while the members of Fairy Tail live blissfully ignorant, until one day, Natsu begins dreaming of a blonde girl with a pink guild mark on her hand.
