Today was a very productive day of learning for Namu. Going in and out of my car while it's off while completely calm, opening and closing the car door while remaining calm.

While walking around after our car lesson he spooked at a piece of plastic on the ground. Instead of ignoring or getting upset at him, I made him backtrack so I could grab the plastic, and proceeded to crinkle it until he started ignoring the sound of it. In fact at the end he would run over for a treat at the sound haha. I did this both outside, and inside. While I was unharnessing him and while giving him his treat. Does this mean he will never spook at a piece of plastic again? Probably not. But it's a good step!

While this could be considered flooding, I personally do not. As I am focusing on a specific object and showing him it's in fact safe. I would pause to let him sniff it, and he never showed terror at me doing this. The only fear was the initial spooking when I accidentally stepped on it. Before I threw it away, I stepped on it in front of him again while inside and he didn't bat an eye at it. Success!
