john green didn’t “deserve” the way that early ‘10s tumblr treated him technically, but I feel like the discussion around whether he “deserved” it or not is completely missing the point. he was an adult in a space that was largely recreationally used by teenagers. why would he not get the substitute teacher treatment. what else did you think would occur here.
#even if Tumblr was mostly inhabited by 17-20 yo in the early 10s (which is was not) it wouldn't be weird for a young adults' Books author to#be there#that's where his audience was

STOP LINKING ATTRACTIVENESS WITH MORALITY (“notice how the person with the bad opinion is ugly?”)
STOP LINKING WEIGHT WITH MORALITY (“lmao look how fit all the people with Good Opinion are, Person I Hate is Fat”)
STOP LINKING AGE WITH MORALITY (“people with Good Opinion just don’t age I swear!”)
STOP LINKING HEALTH WITH MORALITY (“Well xyz health problem is what Person I Hate gets for being shitty!”)
STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT
#stop linking romantic status to morality also ''yeah it tracks that that person would be single they suck'' not to Darwin point but Hitler#was happily married

the secret to organising any kind of trip with your friends is to become the benevolent dictator. do NOT wait for everyone to provide a consensus on things before you book anything. do it and then ask for feedback after. do not ask people what they would like to do just tell them what is happening and let them all nod along like the sheep they are. this is the ONLY way to coordinate a group of adults in their 20s/30s
#what we usually do with my friends' group is put ultimatums#and if no one answers a couple of us are trained dictators

on one hand it’s often too much for my animal brain to know about so many people and events all over the world but on the other hand today on my socials I posted a video foraging mushrooms and one of my mutuals who liked it in California posted a video sewing a 17th century dress reproduction from an original piece and one of my other mutuals who liked it in Alaska posted a video celebrating his town bringing in an entire whale and another of my mutuals who liked it in Ireland posted about their efforts removing invasive plants from a pasture and I’m like wow we all lived such different days on the same day all around the world and i got to see all of their smiles today and we all got to share in all those things from so far away. and life is beautiful and the world is beautiful and its people are so beautiful

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

it's crazy how normalized misogyny is like you find out a man doesn't believe women are people capable of equitable rational thought and logic reasoning as men and you're considered weird if you express discomfort associating with him

saw some ppl complaining that MCR's current tour is "cringe" bc they're "old" and other ppl fighting for their fucking lives to defend MCR and it's like don't waste ur energy. people making fun of MCR again is like nature healing. if you're a young MCR fan this is your chance to live the authentic experience from 2008

I think the disconnect for me is between the people actually writing theory (like Talia Bhatt), who use tme and tma in their broader possible meaning the author of I am not coming out would absolutely be affected. In that case it is a (of course imperfect as it's always the case) useful word meant to conveniently talk about the people concerned by a specific axis of discrimination. But then you also have people looking to categorize themselves who misattribute the words to the axis of discrimination itself when "transmisogyny" (= the specific intersection of transphobia and misogyny, which does translate most noticeably into hatred from visibly trans women, but not only) already exists. "TMA" plays a similar role as "racialized" in what it is meant to express.
Eh fuck it. I'll just make The Discourse Post and just not have it be a fucking text essay.
One of my biggest issues with TME/TMA discourse is how much its based on assigning who is affected by oppression, in ways that are just FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG ACTUALLY.
If your method of analyzing oppression is built on a premise where you if you met the author of "I Am A Transwoman. I Am In The Closet. I Am Not Coming Out." you would look her directly in the eyes and say "You aren't the target of transmisogyny, actually" then quite frankly... your method of analysis sucks shit.
My OTHER big issue is... every fucking post about it sounds like this fucking tweet tbh.

Yeah, I'm sure that the dickhead looking to curbstomp someone who falls outside of gender norms entering a public restroom, is gonna go "Oh! You are a tranny with LADY PARTS! My mistake!"
