My 28 years later thoughts

Spoilers ahead

28 years later is not the fear inducing sequel to 28 days later by the use of zombies. Its not a movie where characters are living the apocalypse, its a movie where the characters are living and there is an apocalypse. Their world ended 28 years before, and for so many born later it was always ended. The fear is the fact that death comes for all in different ways. The fact that Spike could protect his mother as much as he could from zombies but lose her to what could be cancer.

The tagline "time didnt heal anything " idnt just about the fact that the rage virus wasnt eradicated, but the fact that humanity didnt better itself. The rest of the world cut the UK off, moving into the future as they went backwards, clinging onto the only future they had. Erik, the NATO soldier, who had an iphone and friends and delivery drivers. Spike who didnt even have the medical equipment to diagnose his mothers illness.

The infected woman giving birth, retaining just enough humanity to bring her daughter into the world with the help of Isla was a beautiful moment. The barebones of humanity, our compassion that makes us better.

For Spike, the apocalypse wasnt the rage virus, it was his father pulling way, cheating on his dying mother. It was coming to terms with life outside the island. It was this coming of age he never chose. So he chose, safety for the baby and then the mainland for himself.

Sir Jimmy, a child forsaken and now grown. His character, its so vague and yet takes shape just enough to let you know he means his unspoken threat. The doctor now mortician, in two words he described the entire feeling of this movie:

Ignoring the real possibility he intentionally let himself be caught from the little we know so far Luigi Mangione's case is a fascinating combination of astonishing brilliance and confusing stupidity. This young man plans and executes his assassination and escape with such a meticulous care and calmness that it's suspected that he's a professional hitman. He comes up with Riddler-sque moves like writing his manifesto poetically on the bullets and leaving his backpack behind full of Monopoly money. He carefully wears a mask to avoid being identified but removes it because a woman who was checking him into the hostel was flirting with him and wanted to see his smile. He still manages to escape the most surveilled city in the country in the midst of ongoing national manhunt only to get caught in the middle of bumfuck nowhere Pennsylvania while eating at the McDonalds. Because for some reason he had the same clothes and mask as in New York and was carrying the same gun and suppressor. And when the cops detained him he showed them the same fake id he used in New York. And oh yeah he's a frat bro gym rat who has a masters degree in computer science from Penn but reads stupid self-help books about being on the grind and is 'anti-woke' while being bisexual suffering from anxiety and wanting to end oppressive capitalism. Not even god himself could invent a person like this

Reminder that famous conservative figures are con artists. “Alpha male" influencers like Andrew Tate deliberately isolate you and exploit your loneliness for profit. They teach men ideals that make them repulsive to women, and then sell them "solutions" to make women like them, which obviously fail. Andrew Tate doesn't want you to become a "sigma male", he wants you lonely and miserable because that's when you're most dependent on him. Conservative influencers take advantage of ignorance and loneliness, and this is the end result.
