Finally had time to head to the range for an hour to sight in the 6 inch 1911. Took two hours. Still have some work to go. Still one of my most love guns. But not most loved builds. It’s been a pain in the ass to own due to it blowing it’s self up the first time we took her out. Finding replacement parts or people willing to make them was a nightmare. But the DeLisle Silent Carbine is one quite gun. Heavy and little recoil. It makes it fun to waist shots and hit the dirt berm just to hear the thud. There might be a new build in the future to try and duplicate her. It’s been a while since I was able to post any updates. Have not had any. Just finished the ejector. EGW heavy duty. Hand fit. Took prob 8-10 hours of combined worked. What a pain in the ass. But it’s a sold tight fit with lots left over in the back for final slide blending. On to the barrel and bushing now. Fitting the @evolutiongunworks heavy duty extractor, firing pin, and firing pin stop. The extractor took all of five min to fit. Nice and tight. A tinny amount of bend had the extractor holding rounds and passes the Hilton Yam test. The firing pin stop took firing on all sides to fit. However after about an hours work it is a nice tight fit. Last picture shows the next part of the project. It’s hard to tell in the vid and pics. But this slide runs like it’s on rails. Smooth as glass. Zero play vertically or laterally. There is one hint of a sticky spot at the furthest most aft portion, but it takes a slight pressure of my thumb and it’s move forward again. It might be a @rockislandarmory frame but it’s going to run like a too. A new project is in the works. 1911 carbine. I am torn between a five inch slide and six in slide. The only problem with that route is the holster is designed to carry a 5 inch 1911 not a 6 inch. So we will see in time. The barrel fitment is sloppy at the barrel hood. For my standards any how. No doubt it would shoot just fine. It will most likely end up with the barrel hood being micro welded on the sides and the back on the hood. While it would shoot as is there is rotational play and fore and aft play. Since I’m going to be building from the ground up the pistol that this stays with I might as well do a full fit. Kit does not include barrel link. Not an issue here as I have lots of them. Only other issue is the pin hole that holds the mainspring housing in place is drilled slightly at an angle. @lastbastionlabs makes an outstanding reproduction of the M1911A1 Checkered arched mainspring housing. With out a doubt it is the closest reproduction I have seen. Pictured here next to my @sdsimports 1911 Army with an actual Ithaca arms WWII MSH. The piece here is carbon steel in the white waiting to be blued. The checkering is a bit more aggressive then actual WWII MSHs but it is welcome as well. Fit, finish, and feel is spot on. He leaves them just a hint oversized and this allows for final fit by the end user. This one mounts up very tight in guns with no wobble. Once I’m finished with the rest of the build on the SDI 1911 it’s off to @fordscustomguns for either parkerizing or blueing. 400 sanded all around. No more tool marks anywhere. One of the best there is @gregderr @derrprecision recommend 400 for the parts and 600 for the flats. Hope to have this build in his hands for final slide work, sights, and Ionbond coating here in the future. Been working again getting the bullseye build ready for Ionbond treatment. Sanded down the @wilsoncombat Round Butt mag well. It showed I have some more final work to do on one side to get a flush fit all the way through. After a few years of shooting her and over 4K rounds I’m finally finishing the build process. Final fitting of all small parts and removing all tooling marks. Starting with the grip safety. @solo_lobo95 what do they teach you in school for the grip safety? Mine is super tight at the back and now has razor sharp edges that blend seamlessly with the frame. Have yet to have time to go out and test fi re it again. Worked on the Tisas last night. Just a quick parts swap. The grip safety from Tisas just barely worked WWII @coltfirearms trigger and if you pulled the trigger hard enough, read not much, it would skip over the back of the grip safety and let the hammer down. Enter an authentic WWII Ithaca grip safety. Fit was 100% perfect with zero need for any fitting. Works like new. Looks a good bit better too. Next I’ll fit an actual colt wide spur hammer.
