This is my submission dedicated to @kibasniper for @danganevents valentines fic exchange. Sorry I was a little late, some things came up. It’s my first time writing for this pairing, and I hope you like it!
It was a relatively decent day for Kaede Akamatsu. At school, they had to pair up for a project and she got a good partner for once… or so she thought.
Tenko Chabashira was walking besides her, complaining about their male classmates’ behavior. She often had the tendency to look down on men and be highly critical of every little thing they did… Then again, she also had this ‘little’ infatuation for girls, specifically Himiko which scared Kaede a bit; but when she found herself side by side with her she noticed that Tenko was a much more pleasant company than she would have expected. They made small chat about all sorts of things, the blonde being especially careful to not mention the opposite gender.
It proved to be fairly easy, since the discussion was mainly about Neo-Aikido and how people tend to often misunderstand its importance. Soon enough, the conversation shifted onto her achievements and love for the arts, Kaede listening low key amazed; firstly, because of the awards in question and how unbelievable they were compared to her own, and secondly because how immersed she seemed to be. It was as if everything else ceased to exist, and that fact reminded her once again how unusual her classmates could sometimes be.
“Kaede, what do you think? Would you be able to train with me someday?” She didn’t know how their talk got to that point since she wasn’t fully paying attention, but the question slightly baffled her.
“Um… Of course! Though I’m not familiar at all with Aikido, so I’m not that good…”
“Woaah!! You actually said yes?! I mean, I really didn’t expect you to! Every time I would ask Himiko she’d always say it’d be too tiring for her…” There she goes again with Himiko. She was all over her every single moment of the day, and Kaede was questioning why that wasn’t the case at the moment.
“Speaking of Himiko, why didn’t you pair up with her for the project?”
“…She didn’t want to.”
“Oh…” the silence that followed was more saddening than awkward, since Tenko slumped in her posture and looked like a dejected little puppy. Not that she could be blamed for that, as her crush didn’t hesitate to reject her, it seemed.
“But that doesn’t matter!! I mean, you just told me you’d be willing to train! So that makes me really happy, you didn’t ask anything bad!!!” her sudden reaction and exclamation points startled Kaede a bit, but managed to shrug it off by offering her a slightly nervous smile. Out of nowhere, she got an idea that might help break the ice for the project.
“Say, wouldn’t it be a good idea to hang out somewhere before we start? I have a place in mind-“
“OOOOH!! We could have a picnic! My house is close by, I happen to have sandwiches and everything we need prepared!!” …She wasn’t going to ask further. But it would be fairly easy to guess why she’d keep a huge amount of food available with Himiko around.
As Tenko said, walking to her home didn’t take too long; not only that, but she also eagerly invited Kaede inside. It was common courtesy, yet she still felt a little out of place since her and Tenko hadn’t really spoken that much. The interior was decorated normally, a thing one wouldn’t quite expect from the Ultimate Aikido Master. Of course, there were some martial arts motifs lying around.
With a quick ‘I’ll be right back’ the slightly shorter girl disappeared into the kitchen, swiftly returning with two decently sized lunch boxes. When meeting Kaede’s gaze, she offered her a wide smile, excitement visible in her eyes. “But there’s no picnic without a picnic mat!” Apparently she had one… lying right on the couch??
“T-Tenko… Did you actually prepare everything knowing you’ll get paired up with someone and… ask them to have a picnic?”
“O-o-o-of course not!!!! This just happened to be random, see?? I didn’t even know what kind of sandwiches you like, so I totally wasn’t prepared for this!!” at this point, her face was clearly redder than usual and nervous droplets of sweat dripped from her chin which surprised the blonde a bit since it was such an unusual sight. But then, it finally clicked.
“…You got this ready for Himiko, didn’t you?”
“W-what, no!!! I mean, not that I wouldn’t want to, but no!!” her lightning fast response gave Kaede all she needed to know.
“Look… It’s okay. Even if Himiko didn’t want to hang out with you, which I’m not really sure why,” oh, she definitely knew why “you don’t have to pretend you’re happier than you actually are. It’s alright to be sad from time to time.”
“B-but… but…” Slouching in her posture, she let out a sigh and avoided the other’s eyes. “I just don’t understand… What did I do wrong…? Himiko and Angie always hang out, and… they leave me out all the time!! But maybe… maybe I really am annoying Himiko, there’s no way she can be possibly wrong!!”
“No, that’s not true! I’m sure she needs a little more time to get used to you, but you really aren’t annoying. It’s actually the opposite, since you’re so energetic you tend to rub off on others, and that’s a good thing!”
“But I must surely be bothering you right now! Instead of having a picnic, I’m just wasting your time with my excessive whining…”
“I don’t know how exactly I can convince you otherwise, but… wait, I have an idea. Since we have all weekend to finish our projects, why don’t we go hang out with Himiko and Angie? We could even have a picnic together, since you’ve prepared quite a bit of food and it’d be a shame if we wasted it. What do you say?” Kaede eagerly waited for a response, while Tenko didn’t hesitate to show her reluctance. After an incredibly short amount of time, she gave in, letting her elation take over.
“YES!! And it won’t be only me and Himiko, so that way… but are you sure you want to? I don’t want to involve you in my problems because you felt that you had no choice…”
“Look, this is my choice. I may not have spoken too much with either of them, but that’s why we could try hanging out! It doesn’t hurt to get to know each other better, and this is also a good opportunity for Himiko to warm up to you!” she tried to convey her excitement into speech, yet there were some things better left to Tenko and her seemingly limitless energy. “…of course, I do like picnics too, so…” mumbling, she smiled bashfully.
Letting her emotions out, she gleefully grabbed Kaede’s hands and thanked her, while also reminding her of how she’ll make sure the picnic would be enjoyable for all. A quick call was all it needed to convince Angie, who took it upon herself to carry Himiko along. It would be no easy task, but something assured Kaede they'd show up; she couldn't quite tell what that something was, though.
Trying to lower Tenko's eagerness to sprint out the door turned out to be a difficult challenge. Soon enough, she calmed down and walked besides Kaede as calm as she could... which was definitely not that.
Soon enough, they made it to the park where Angie, Himiko and Atua apparently, waited for them. Laying the mat and readying the sandwiches faster than one would say "nyeh", Tenko just couldn't contain herself. Kaede mostly just sat and watched, steering the conversation from men whenever she could. The food was amazing, even Atua praised them from wherever he was, according to Angie. Himiko grinned slightly while slowly munching on hers, and that meant the world to Tenko.
A few minutes of small chat turned into hours, and meaningless words took the form of secrets and confessions. The evening's rays of sun highlighted the small group of girls, giving the shortest one a headache. The rest answered to her complaints and parted, hurrying to their respective homes as it had gotten quite late. The gentle smiling Kaede and the overexcited Tenko once again found themselves walking besides each other. This time though, there were things that needed to be said.
"Kaede, thank you so much!! I really wouldn't have gone through with this idea alone, how can I possibly repay you?!"
"Geez, Tenko... You're talking as if I did something actually meaningful; instead I just hung out with my friends, no big deal."
"Aaahhh, you're too kind! I certainly don't deserve someone as good or pretty as you..."
"P-pretty?? I wouldn't really say that... "
"It's true!! And spending this day with you... has made me realize something." It was hard to believe Tenko actually used a serious tone, and by the looks of it she even attempted to look Kaede in the eyes, but immediately failed and avoided her gaze, wearing a thoughtful expression.
"I've realized there are people other than Himiko... and that, maybe, I didn't like her as much as I thought... What I mean is... Waaaah, I can't say it!" her face was tomato colored, and her nervousness made itself visible with her seemingly quivering lower lip.
"It's okay. I'm sure you'll be able to say it someday. You're strong, and I believe in you!" it was more than obvious what she was meaning to confess, yet Kaede was thankful she couldn't do it. She was not quite sure of her feelings for Tenko, and she didn't know how her vague answer would affect the other. Fortunately, Tenko reacted well to her encouragement and nodded; her motivated self back once again.
Of course, maybe with a little more time, she'd consider other options as well.

Charmful Encounters
Written for Oumota Weekend, Hogwarts AU
In the room where a hue of blue appeared to take over, books were carefully arranged on their shelves, not an ounce of dust seeming to gather. A boy sat on the couch in front of the fireplace, delightfully turning the pages of a rather unique story. His deep purple locks were curved upwards, possibly from playing with them too much, as he tended to do that while reading. The Ravenclaw common room was rarely empty, but he paid it no mind and kept his attention fixated on the small writing. The tale of two lovers was unraveling as he read each page carefully, but not for the reasons one might expect; the book captured the flaws of people so well, it was fascinating to him, yet he had none to speak of it with.
Being a meek fourth year had its own advantages and disadvantages, the latter coming in stronger. To top it all off, he couldn’t help but be a mudblood and attract even more negative attention. Such is the fate of a protagonist…
He knew though, that even if he might not grow bigger, he was still a Ravenclaw. His wits surpassed those of the usual person; yet failing classes was inevitable as he didn’t bother to study, earning disrespect from his fellow house members.
As you can notice, his spare time was filled with reading books over books, never getting tired of the same old stories of love and betrayal. From reading so much romance one would expect he’d be a charismatic flirter, but he was exactly the opposite: the more he read, the more bitter he became, and no matter how many pranks he’d play or how many points he’d lose, he could never fill the void a love story left. Even though he was reading them just to criticize…
He was already close to finishing, yet being alone for so long unsettled him slightly. He decided to go check where the others were, since it might have been possible an event was taking place; he realized it had to be announced, but…. No harm in making sure.
…At least, that’s what he thought at first, but the sight he was welcomed with as he left the room was almost nightmarish. Blinking twice, thrice, the huge troll was still there, its back facing him. It appeared to scan its closest surroundings, and luckily he wasn’t anything near that. He could easily tip toe through the hall on his right, which was coincidentally a way out. How he thanked the gods for making trolls so stupid…
“LOOK OUT!” His plans suddenly came to a halt as a guy around his age threw himself on the ground, trapping him for some reason, all while attracting the troll’s attention right to them. The purple haired teen could do nothing but gulp as the menacing creature made its way to bash their heads in. The other person quickly got up and analyzed the situation, to which he mumbled a curse word and picked the small boy over his shoulder.
“Huh?-”
“We’re running now!!! I’ll try to be as fast as I can, so don’t worry about it, I’m saving you no matter what!” The poor boy didn’t even have time to react, for the other had already sprinted, keeping a tight grip on him. All he could notice was the color of the others’ uniform, which managed to explain a lot…
Gryffindor… He thought most of them were brainless idiots, and this guy here proved him right; yet he still managed to run faster than one might expect with this much weight on his shoulder, so that was one thing to be appreciated. Fortunately, it took a while for the troll to wake up from its daze and follow after them, so they had a huge advantage in distance.
“The bathroom…!” he uttered out, and the other gleefully complied. Swiftly, they took refuge, the troll too far behind to notice. After what felt like an eternity, he could finally feel the floor under his feet as he was put down slightly rough. With that also came the appearance of his “savior”; a sturdy looking guy was panting, his eyes and hair a lighter shade of purple than the small boy’s.
“It’s alright, young man! Take your time.”
“Young man…? You don’t look much older than me, and why did you jump to the conclusion I need to go to the bathroom?? We were literally being chased by a troll, how did hiding not occur to you?”
“Gee, sorry… I just tried to help. Thought you got really scared and needed to go…”
“Fine, fine, I can understand that, but why would you- why would you literally announce your entrance to a troll? We wouldn’t have gotten in this mess otherwise.”
“Well, I had to tell you somehow to be careful, didn’t I?”
“By yelling it.”
“Yeah! I had to make sure you’d hear it.”
“I don’t know, didn’t it seem like the troll would be hearing it too?”
“Well uh… I didn’t really think about that, I just did it.”
“Typical…” he scoffed; secretly amazed someone could be this cliché. His curiosity quickly overtook him, so he easily found the courage to speak even more. “Who even are you, anyway?”
“I’m Kaito Momota, Luminary of the-“
“Never mind, I reeaaaaaally don’t wanna hear it. Let’s just focus on getting out of this unscathed, ok? Ok.”
“Fine then, geez… but what’s your name?”
“I… am totally uninterested in giving you my name for the moment, so let’s just go.” He walked towards the door, not wanting to engage in any more pointless conversation.
“Do you need another lift?”
“No, I’m fine. And be quiet this time, I hope I don’t have to repeat myself again after this.”
“Don’t worry, I got it!” Kaito offered him a brilliant smile, paired together with a hopeful thumbs up. It took such a huge amount of self control to not roll his eyes, so instead he just sighed and took the lead. Carefully opening the door, troll noises could be heard not too far away, but they were lucky to not be in its sight.
Oh cripes... He thought as he remembered; out of all the days he chose to set up an elaborate prank, the hallway in question happens to be their only escape route. Sighing in massive disappointment, he decided to speak to Kaito about it, but he had a feeling it would be pointless.
"I think we should go this way." He affirmed, pointing in the direction of the troll.
"Isn't that where the troll is?"
"Yeeeeees...?"
"But didn't you say we shouldn't raise its attention??"
"Exactly, and we're gonna do just that! So follow after me-" the troll roared suddenly at the sight of them, interrupting any chain of rational thought. Both shrieking like little girls, Kaito picked him up over his shoulder and ran as fast as his legs could take him. The younger boy had clear vision of the angry troll, swiftly following behind them. He abstained from letting out another scream as different methods of escaping overwhelmed his thoughts; their road would be a bit difficult, but maybe that could be used to their advantage.
Since Kaito was still screeching, he had to get his attention somehow, but no matter how hard he pulled on his uniform it felt like he was in a whole different world. As a last resort, he decided to try shouting. “HEEEEEY!”
“O-OW!! Your head is right next to my ear man, take it easy!”
“How can I possibly take it easy in this situation?! Look, listen to me if you don’t want all sorts of liquids poured all over you. Right in front of us, there’s gonna be this carpet with a huge symbol on it, so try to avoid it at all costs, let the troll step on it.”
“What was that??”
“DON’T STEP ON THE- oh my god.” Kaito’s lack of attention cost them precious time and clothes, as the gallons of pink dye dropped from the ceiling right on them. The utter force it came down with made Kaito lose balance faster than one could say ‘oof’. The sudden event confused the troll, thus leading to a rather unexpected diversion, and it would stay that way unless a troublesome Gryffindor blabbered his mouth.
“A-“ as soon as he opened his mouth, a hand was firmly pressed to it. Surprisingly, Kaito quickly caught up and stopped resisting. The huge amount of dye made it all this much harder for the Ravenclaw, as he wasn’t the biggest fan of getting dirty; but who would enjoy being completely engulfed in any kind of liquid either way?
The troll tried to trace the humans’ smell, but that wouldn’t be the case any time soon. It left, sticking its nose into furniture probably as to find something, but to their luck, nothing happened. The relief that overcame them was immeasurable, but it wouldn’t last long since the dye would attempt to get in their eyes and mouths. That was a very inconvenient situation, since their close surroundings were transformed into a pool of pink. The younger boy used his hands to feel the floor, and crawled towards an unstained spot. Thankfully, the carpet was huge, so he managed to wipe his face with it. Finally able to see well, he also took the time to wipe his hands also. Standing up, he walked to Kaito and used his now clean palms to help a fellow student.
“We gotta get out of here…” he whispered, in fear that he might be heard by the troll. The taller boy nodded quietly, and waited for his next orders. “Walking through this hallway isn’t gonna cut it, since most of the… traps, aren’t avoidable. Sneaking past the troll is the only option.”
“Can’t we just… attack it or-“
“Since you’re clearly discontent with the way I’m trying to do things, I’ll suggest another idea.”
“Gee, I didn’t mean to-“
“Hush, more talking means more chances of getting found out, so shut it.” That did the trick. The Ravenclaw pulled out a little bag from his uniform, confusing Kaito even more. It turned out that inside the bag was nothing more than some cat treats, and so the small boy threw a few of them on the ground and started making alluring cat noises, but silently. At this point, above Kaito’s head was a huge question mark, but he decided not to ask anything as to not upset him further.
“Follow me, but be quiet. We’re gonna get real close to the troll.” Surprisingly, he listened, and so they went. Of course, he was still trying to allure some cat, leaving a trail of treats behind them. Despite knowing his plan was flawless, the more they walked the more anxious he got; the troll could pop up at anytime, and their escape wouldn’t go as well as last time. Exhausting his bag of treats, the only thing left to do was wait…. And wait…. And wait some more.
“So, how much longer-“ he got shushed immediately. They hid behind a wall, and the fourth year carefully scanned their surroundings; no sight of the creature, but no cat either… And when the situation seemed to spiral out of control….
The roar of an angrier troll echoed through the halls. It was inevitable they’d get found out, but look what the cat brought in! The kitten was following the trail of treats right to them, but as it was doing so, so was the troll getting closer and closer. Elated, the boy approached his kitty, which was too immersed in munching on its treats to notice the two pink painted giants. It got a little pat on the head and a mumble too quiet to make out. Finally taking notice of its master, the cat meowed excitedly, leading the troll right to their location. Not waiting any longer, he took the lead, starting to put his plan into motion. “Hop on!”
“Wait, what?!”
“I said HOP ON AND HOLD ON TIGHT!!” He seemed to act as if his cat was a broom, and posed accordingly. Confused, yet desperate, Kaito followed and did the same. Quickly bringing out his wand, he shouted the word which would lead to a turn of events nothing could ever prepare Kaito for.
“ENGORGIO!” with a wave of the wand, the deed was done; the cat suddenly grew so big in size, it could easily carry the both of them. Not wasting any time for Kaito to take it in, he threw another bag of treats he had on him and shouted. “At it, Whiskas! To the great hall!!” It meowed excitedly, and soon enough it sprinted off in the direction of the troll, the distance so small between the two that it made the creature dizzy. Both holding tight onto the kitten’s fur, they breezed through the hallways. Kaito’s confusion had disappeared, having been replaced with excitement. Not everyone gets to ride a giant cat, and he intended to enjoy every single moment of it.
While doing so, he happened to hold on tight onto the Ravenclaw as well, making him slightly uncomfortable. He didn’t fully mind though, as the thrill of the ride was quite refreshing. They even forgot about their dye issue, but that was a thing to worry about later.
With each step the cat took, Kaito in the back would whistle and laugh like an idiot, as if he’d never ridden something before. The Ravenclaw would ponder in his mind; didn’t he ever ride a broom? He looked older than him, that’s for sure, but despite trying to find explanations for the other’s joy, he didn’t realize he wore a wide grin himself. Upon finding that out, he covered his mouth, not understanding how he could enjoy himself in the company of such a dumbass.
Finally getting to their destination after what seemed to be a few minutes, the cat barged into the hall full of people, meowing loudly as if announcing its arrival. Some faces showed surprise, some even fear, while others disappointment, and our troublesome Ravenclaw would surely get his share of scolding. He jumped off his Whiskas, pretending to wipe the dust off his uniform, but clearly couldn’t as the eye-hurting pink dye was still deeply ingrained into the roots of the clothing. Kaito soon followed, but didn’t bother to put on a serious farce; he looked at his fellow Gryffindors and was welcomed with wide grins and gasping mouths.
Waving his wand once again, he mumbled the counter-charm, and his cat quickly turned back to its original size. Trying to ignore the stares as much as he could, he kept a cheeky grin with his eyes closed. Unfortunately, that couldn’t block sound.
“Mr. Ouma.” The booming voice rang through the whole hall, seemingly belonging to the Head of the Ravenclaw house. The mess he’s gotten into was as big as it could get, and he patiently awaited his doom. “Not only you choose to stay behind while a troll is roaming freely in the hallways, but you also vandalized the school property and used magic unsupervised. If this were just another one of your pranks I would send you, without an ounce of hesitation, to one of the worst detentions you could have possibly imagined of.” He’s heard that voice so many times, but no matter how hard he tried it still haunted him at night sometimes. He struggled to keep a blank face, but still broke into a cold sweat because of his imminent doom.
“But as we can all clearly see, this is a bit of a special situation. Despite coming face to face with a menacing mountain troll, you managed to use your magic wisely and escape unscathed, together with your fellow student here at Hogwarts, which I will lecture soon enough. With this I say, 5 points to Ravenclaw, but I will not ignore your misconduct and shall send you to detention either way.” That was a lot better than what he thought, getting praise was the last thing he’d expect. It made his insides tingle; it’s been so long since he’d felt that way.
“As for you, Mr. Momota I believe, you displayed great courage, willing to assist your classmates in times of danger, even if it was highly unlikely for anyone to remain behind. 5 points to Gryffindor as well, but you will join your friend here in detention, if my colleagues agree, that is.” And everyone clapped. The teacher had handled the situation well, but it wasn’t only directed at her. Kaito and Ouma turned to look at each other, having decided to fully take in the attention. They bowed, and such the clapping got louder, paired with whistles and even chanting of the older one’s name.
“That was amazing, Ouma! I haven’t seen someone as young as you before use magic this good!” he patted his head a bit roughly, completely forgetting of the troublesome dye and getting a bit of it on his face. But neither of them cared too much, Kaito’s laughter soon mingling with the never ending clapping of the others. Soon enough, he chuckled too, so that he’d let the idiot have his fun, but just this once.

Welcome to Oumota Weekend 2019! This is a ship weekend dedicated to Oumota (Momota Kaito/Ouma Kokichi) that runs from February 1st-3rd.
Oumota Weekend is an event that lasts 3 days (Friday-Sunday). We celebrate Oumota Week to spread Oumota love and generate new fan work. Each day gets 2-3 prompts and during that time fans create and share content inspired by the prompts! All you need to do is post your work on Tumblr and use the tag #oumotaweekend or #oumotaweekend2019. In case of any questions you can check our Rules and FAQ.
Reblogs of this post are very appreciated as it helps to spread the word about the event and encourages more people to participate.
