I already think sharing vs nonsharing selfshippers discourse is stupid in general, but I'll be honest, that "nonsharers dni" thing a few months ago was such a non-issue and I don't know why we made it out to be such a big deal when it really wasn't.

It was literally just a few blogs who had that disclaimer, most of which were literally minors. I still think they shouldn't have had such a disclaimer to begin with, in the sense that it is far too vague to give people proper discretion over what counts as a nonsharing selfshipper. That didn't excuse an adult coming in to act rude towards them over it, especially when they accused one of them of vagueposting.

This all could've been avoided if we learned how to just block people again.

FIC TIME

I don't have a cute name for this one either. I'm so tired

Pairing: Doyle x Ronan

Warnings: amphibians. Possibly really bad I just had an idea in mind and needed to write this before I never touched the idea again

Ronan judged the gap between his feet and the floor below with eyes full of a ludicrous amount of skepticism. As the ground rumbled once again- louder than ever before, Doyle’s patience for the scientist was wearing thin. He finally snapped; “Oh, come on already! Do you want to be giant frog food?”

Ronan snapped back. “This is harder than it looks, okay?! Not all of us have a jetpack, Doyle!”

Hearing his name, he rolled his eyes before lifting his arms up even higher. “I told you already, I’m going to catch you! Unless you wanna try your luck with THOSE things.”

Feeling the cave trembling under his body worse, Ronan whipped his head around, heart sinking as he saw three mountainous  frogs menacingly hopping closer.

He looked down again.

The distance between him and Doyle had to be about ten feet. Doyle’s arms looked much more comfortable than the stone floor. And a lot safer than the acidic stomach of the Hook Island monsters.

With a deep breath that hurt his chest and after sealing his eyes shut, Ronan finally was able to make his jump; landing in Doyle’s arms with a little “mph!” from him and a grunt from Doyle. It took Ronan a second to unscrew his eyes open. And in the moment, he was taken away by the surprisingly soft face that was staring back at him. And the comfort of the arms that were now cradling him like a bride. The muscle in Doyle’s arms was unmistakable, but what took Ronan by surprise was the layer of fat that cushioned it all that the cryptozoologist hadn’t realized was even there. It was a delightful surprise. It paired with a strangely comforting scent of his leather vest and the slight smell of machinery that followed him around just about everywhere-

Ronan’s train of thought severed when he watched a mischievous grin spread across Doyle’s face, eyes closing at the magnitude of it. “I’ve always wanted to do that. You good, princess?”

Ronan’s dark eyes narrowed, the moment immediately spoiled and that coil in his stomach being replaced by an arrow to the chest. “Don’t call me that.”

Clueless, Doyle helplessly watched Ronan jump out of his arms like the redhead was a cherufe. It only clicked when he was already eight steps away. “H-Hey, I didn’t mean it like that!”

He matched the shorter man’s steps, looking down on him with a helpless face. “Y’know I- kinda thought it’d be a girl i saved like that- It just slipped out! Really, I’m sorry-”

“It’s fine, really.” He knew better. It still hurts to hear, though. But Ronan tried to remind himself that he was an adult. He thought it was childish to be hurt by words alone.

Doyle could still feel the offness between the two of them. He coughed into his fist, debating about what he wanted to say. “I uh. If it means anything to you, I mean… We’re in the same boat.”

It was Ronan’s turn to decipher what Doyle said. He beat his record, head nearly immediately whipping around quick enough to hurt his neck. “Wait, what did you say?”

Doyle froze. “Just-! Don’t tell Drew. Not yet, I mean. She doesn’t- whatever!”

He cleared his throat, digging in his pocket. “Forget about it. I’ll let you have this if you forgive me.”

Ronan looked up, eyes widening when he saw his merc holding out the tail of one of the Hook Island frogs. “What the-?! Where did you get that?!”

He tried to make a grab, but Doyle quickly moved it out of the way with a smirk. “Came from one of those froglets- er, whatever they’re called. Guess it popped off when I grabbed on too tight. You refused to take any of the eggs… So I thought, why not take something they won’t need anymore!” He looked so proud of himself. His little grin was too cute to ignore, Ronan sadly decided. He sighed,

“Apology accepted, Doyle. Now, hold on to that until we get back to the sub. Oh; this is going to be great! Finally! A bodily sample from the Hook Island Monster! I'll be hailed as a genius!”

Ronan decided that it was a good call to hire Doyle. The muscle and the cushion was a good investment…. The company on these deep exploration trips was a bonus. Doyle didn't have to know about that part, though.

They'd made it back to the bit in the cave that gave away back to the sea, where Ronan’s traveling submarine was positioned with but a scratch. It seemed like after that jump, the frogs had lost interest in the intruders. Doyle was kind enough to give Ronan a hand while boarding the sub. The scientist had been silent, questioning just one thing. He stared at the adolescent frog’s missing tail. Darker green, fins still very noticeable, with a clean break where the tail was missing the rest of the body. A little too clean.

“Doyle… you do know that froglet’s tails don't just “pop off”, right?”

“...Yeah… right… Just. Don't think about it too hard."

I feel like I should say since there's been a recent uptick in a lot of communities I'm in/see stuff from a lot of white people pretending to be Asian, but you are not welcome here if you are in anyway stealing from Asian cultures for clout or the aesthetics of it

This includes if you're white and you give your self inserts Asian names, I truly do not care if your f/o is from an anime, you should not be using an Asian name under any circumstances. I hate that whenever I see someone using an Asian name online, I feel like I have to start searching their account to see if they're actually Asian or just a white person who likes the aesthetic of it bcs far too many white people will use Asian names here just bcs it sounds cool, with no regard for the actual cultural meaning behind it. Meanwhile actual Asian people will be mocked for their names, or treated like their names are too hard to learn to pronounce, or discriminated against based on their names

Asian cultures are not a fun little costume for people to dress up with. They aren't just a nice aesthetic, they aren't just a thing you can borrow from bcs you think it sounds cool

The calmness in their voice isn't a facade, but rather proof of their endless patience. So what if they have to break it down step by step, even multiple times? They've got all day. And it doesn't make you any less capable.

And imagine this: being able to be gentle with yourself when you can't answer a question they ask you. You're not shaking, nor tearing up or holding your breath; for once, you're being kind to yourself. Because that's what they teach you to do.
