During the first quarter of the quarantine period I did the most exciting thing that I could ever think of— laze around and to nothing. I thought this pandemic wouldn’t last for long so, all I did is to compensate for all the exhaustion caused by my buttload of school works. But with time, just like everybody else, I got bored. Too bored to the point I started doing the most ridiculous Twitter games. And I’m pretty sure most of us don’t know what to do aside from binge-watching K-dramas, animes, and Netflix movies that are really cliche. No offense, but I don’t know why people love those.

So, I listed a bunch of things that you could do while on quarantine. Proven and tested by yours truly (pun intended).

1. DIY Photoshoot

If you love posing in front of the camera, this one suits you the best. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while since I haven’t experienced being on a photo shoot before. Since your –> girl<– here is broke, I got to use all the creative juices I had to make alternatives for my background, clothes, make-up, and lighting. 

Garbage bag as BG+ Matte Red Lipstick as Winged Eyeliner+ Emergency Flashlight as lighting = TADA!!! Your very own photoshoot. Have fun and feel the model within you. 

2. Read a good book

For those who are in a quest on finding a new hobby while on quarantine, reading a good book is the best. You could go on an adventure while staying at home. It may seem boring on the surface but you’ll never know how fun it will be unless you try it. I recommend “The Five People You’ll Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Alboom. 

Fun Fact: Being a reader means you are more likely to learn something new every day.

3. Hangul Lesson 101

Learn a new language. One thing that motivated me in learning Korean is of course, K-drama and K-pop. It seems like a shallow reason for learning something new, but believe me, if the reason makes you prosperous in positive ways, it is never a lame reason. 

I recommend learning Hangul (Korean Alphabetic System) and/or Baybayin (Indigenous Alphabetic System in the Philippines) for starters. And from there, you can learn the grammar and vocabulary words.

If learning a new language is too much for you, you could try improving the language that you already know about. Learning something is never easy but definitely worth it. A friend once said to me, “Be willing, disciplined, and most importantly, consistent. In that way, you can achieve everything”.

4. Get Closer to God

I saved the best for last because the best way to spend your time is by spending it with God. We now have all the time in the world to read the Bible so no excuses. If reading a good book is now on your quaranTHINGS then this book is now only good, THIS IS THE BEST.

Doing daily devotions alone is never easy so I have a fun tip for you. It is called SOAP. Scripture. Observation. Application. Prayer. A lot a time where you would read a verse or a chapter per day. I prefer the book of John if this is your first time doing it. From there you can answer the following questions: What is the scripture all about and what have I observed while reading? What are the things I can apply and how come? By doing this, you’ll understand our Savior even better.

Remember: You don’t have to force yourself in being productive. Sometimes hanging around and surviving in this pandemic is enough.

If you are learning Korean, the best way to understand the words and senteces better is to study and understand Hangul first. Learning to read Korean instead of relying ng Romanization is a great help to improve your skills. Also, you’ll get the “true” pronounciation/sound of the word.

- b r e a k f a s t - 아침 If there is going to be an 'iT reALLy hUrTz 👉😩👈' moment in my life this might be it. Disclaimer: Story time ahead. Through out my my journey with Christ, I never really understood how hard it is to invite my own family to a church gathering (Cellgroup/Sunday Service/ Events). We were all attending church back then. But the thing is, I can sense that it is not really 'that genuine' . They keep on attending because I can feel that they had no choice but to attend. But COVID-19, a pandemic happened. They stopped attending cellgroups and Sunday Services probably because it is now conducted virtually. I don't know if this is the case but maybe at some point in their lives during this quarantine period they stopped paying attendtion to God, stopped praying and doing their daily devotion. I think I am the only one in the family who strives hard to know God. As much as I don't want to admit, I think I am the only member in this family who hold on to Him. I am really hurt. I don't know what to do. I find it so hard to share God again to them. Because even I, myself is still in the process. Even I is struggling, so how? All I can do right now is to pray to God and surrender it all to Him. My ULTIMATE DREAM is that someday, we can all go to church and worship Him together, listen to His word together, pray with genuine hearts and share His word. I hope and pray that someday we can live eternally with Christ together. I hope no one in my family gets left behind. I pray that God will show me the way how. The curriculum is super nice especially to those beginners out there. Unlike others, I don't have the luxury to buy journals and fancy pens and highlighters to keep my notes. I use a yellow pad paper and a simple black ballpoint pen. Just a reminder that you don't need expensive stuffs to learn something new, just put your heart and mind on it and determine the purpose of why you are striving to learn . 안녕하세요 여로분 :) Hello Everyone. When I was studying English, I never once memorized a word intentionally unless it is need for an exam. I am not a genius but, you in know, learning a language will come to you naturally when you are already learning it as a child. I never realized studying a whole new language is difficult especially because I need to start from the scratch. 하지만, 한국어 너무 재미있어요. 그랬어, 괜찮아요.(Sorry for my bad Korean hehe). Honestly my English still needs to improve because I still stutter when I need to talk to someone and there are words that I still can't understand.
