Some wilds in mum's Fylde garden this week

Crows and gulls drop mussels and cockles on the shore walk to break them open. Onshore winds have made a sort of tide mark of broken shells where people have walked over the bits. Where the shells have ended up on grass they have stayed more or less whole. There is a pleasant crunchiness underfoot on this stretch.

Neat Feather-moss (Pseudoscleropodium purum) on our front bank. At its best in winter.

On a spruce stump (diam. ~60cm) today #boggybrae Think the central plant in last pic might be a rhododendron. I'll see how it develops before I make a decision about whether to hoik it out.

Flung flopped foliage of flags back onto the middle mass between rain showers today. What a difference from how those leaves looked in May!

While the wet snow blew through I watched a bullfinch in the birch tree swing upsidedown to grab a seed or a droplet. Had I opened the window for a better pic he'd have flown off.
