umm hey .. so if anyone has noticed i haven't been active in this blog in forever 🐥🐥

stuff's been happening all the time and said stuff has overwhelmed me most of the time which then leads us to me forgetting about writing or just doing anything i enjoy it do be like that

BUT! some good news, i've recovered at some point recently to actually start writing again, yay! 😁

though, i decided to start on another blog with less restrictions that i set for myself in this blog ;-; it's super unnecessary but that's just how my lil brain works...

anyway—new blog is on @kazhuad 💖 i posted a few works there as of now and have started a mini-series that i will hopefully finish

i'd like to start fresh with a better mindset in the new blog, so it would be nice if any of you guys can join me over there :> thanks a lot everyone ♡

hello everyone! i wanted to experiment on a mini-series for this blog, since i usually don't have the time to do full-on fics. i thought this would be a good filler in between inactivity :> my fave thing to do with writing is dialogue so i hope yall enjoy this ! (yes there will be for other ppl in my character list)

Welcome to Inside:

Due to the author's connections, they were able to reach out to the characters to do a short QnA. The questions are randomly generated and will differ in serious or light-hearted topics. In the future, the audience may submit their own questions.

Yuuji: Get stronger.

"That's only two words, are you sure about that?"

Yuuji: I don't think there has to be more. I feel like younger me would overthink if I say something too deep...

Yuuji: Saying that sends the message quick and easy, and it will surely benefit me in the future!

"Were there any regrets from your current development?"

Megumi: There's not a lot. The only reason I said it was because I put myself down for not being good enough.

Megumi: If I only looked closer, I would've saw how far I've come from where I was.

Nobara: Trust more people.

"Were you a loner back then?"

Nobara: Ha? That makes me sound like I was a sad kid.

Nobara: It's not that, I just kept my circle too small. Made me feel safe and secure. But back then, I was too harsh on myself. I'd like to give younger me a second chance.

Maki: Never doubt yourself.

"Was that what held you back?"

Maki: Nah, I think it's a way of telling old me to get out of the clan as soon as possible.

Maki: Plus I'd have more years spent for myself than being stuck on deciding if it was worth leaving or not.

Toge: (in sign language) It gets easier.

"Did you go through hurdles in your past years?"

Toge: Personal hurdles, yes. But I preferred carrying the burden on my own. I still do.

Toge: I just want my younger self to know that I don't have to be alone, that I won't be for longer.

Yuuta: Protect your own.

"Was there a catalyst for this response? A tragic event, maybe."

Yuuta: Heh, tragic enough. But it's an old scar. Telling this to my past self is just me solidifying what I believe in now.

Yuuta: There were really dark times in between then and now, so I hope those words will help me get through.

Satoru: Leave a legacy.

"That's a pretty tall order you're giving there."

Satoru: Ahh, what can I say? It's the only words I'll ever need to go by. And I'd like to give myself a goal.

Satoru: Who knows? Maybe I'll outdo myself even further.

Suguru: Question and defy.

"Did you dislike not having full control of your life?"

Suguru: Hmm, something along those lines. It's especially hard if the rules you follow weren't even exciting.

Suguru: Rebelling in our youth is only in our nature, after all.

Ieri: Count your days.

"Seems ominous. Is there any hidden meaning to that?"

Ieri: It's humbling to hear. Good or bad intentions, you're certainly going to rethink alot of your decisions.

Ieri: And if I know myself, I'd probably take that as a challenge and live life as if it were my last night.

Kento: Find your worth.

"Did you not value your well-being?"

Kento: In a way. There was wasted effort on matters that didn't benefit me in the end. I'm merely reminding myself what mistakes I should avoid.

Kento: Describing my past, I lived full of longing. I wish to change that.

Iori: Be the light.

"Were there any encounters that prompted this response?"

Iori: It's a general encounter. The life of a sorcerer never tied in with bliss. And I don't want to be another reason to make it even bleaker.

Iori: Call me timid, but I never want anyone else to see the world the way I was taught to.

Sukuna: Tch, five years isn't even significant to someone like me.

"We'll revise it, then."

How to Write Better Descriptions using Negative Space

The Power of Negative Space

A late spring breeze drifts through the open window of your studio, carrying the scent of freshly cut grass and faint cigarette smoke. You reposition your easel to better catch the light. Then, looking at the canvas, you dip your brush into black paint, and you paint the silhouette of a vase.

You step back to see your handiwork.

On the canvas is a vase and two faces. You only painted the vase, but the untouched white canvas presses in on the edges of the black paint, appearing to form the profiles of two faces.

You’ve painted Rubin’s Vase, an illusion that uses negative space (the unpainted canvas) to imply shapes and images. It shows how with just a few brush strokes, you’re able to imply just as much as you explicitly create.

That’s the power of a line — and to harness it is an advantage, whether you’re painting a picture, or writing a description in a story.

Writing Descriptions like Brush Strokes

As writers, we’ll never perfectly convey the images in our heads, because our descriptions rely on the imaginations of our readers to come to life. We can try to fix this by packing a description with excessive details, but that often just bloats the image, which bores, rather than stimulates, the imagination.

That’s why you should try writing like an artist — in brush strokes.

And with negative space.

Instead of describing every painstaking detail of a scene or a character’s appearance, highlight instead a few key, unique details — building clear images, which in turn imply an entire scene in the negative space of your reader’s imagination.

Take, for example, my introduction above. The late spring breeze, drifting in through an open window, smelling of freshly cut grass and cigarette smoke. You, readjusting the easel to catch the natural lighting, dipping your brush into black paint.

I’m not describing everything in that scene. I’m just providing a few specific details and actions that activate your imagination and bring the scene to life. (That being said, if I were writing a full scene and not just a short blog intro, I’d probably provide a few more details, such as your paint-splattered jeans and boots; yesterday’s coffee, cold in a mug on the windowsill; your sheared fingernails and cuticles, shortened from a habit of nail biting.)

Writing better descriptions can be as simple as that. Here are a few tips for writing descriptions in this fashion:

Ignore commonplace details. Readers are able to fill in common, assumed details (like hair/eye color) on their own, so prioritize details that make the setting or character unique.

Write clear, descriptive actions. Above, I didn’t just write “you move to a better position,” I wrote, “You reposition your easel to better catch the light.” I said very little about the easel, but now you’re picturing it all the same, likely with your hands on its wooden leg and brace, and you’re seeing the canvas brighten with natural lighting as you move it closer to the window. But I didn’t say all those things: I only offered a few specific nouns and verbs, and your imagination filled in and extrapolated the rest. That’s what happens when you write actions with specificity.

Write as much (or as little) as space and style dictate. Like I wrote above, I kept this post’s intro description short, because I wanted to usher you into the body of the content. A longer description would have hindered that goal. In a full scene, you may take more time to really breathe life into the setting or character. Or you might not; never forget to factor in your personal aesthetic and narrative goals.

Feel free to go overboard in draft 1. When painting, you can’t easily take back a brush stroke — but in writing you can. So feel free to write excessively in draft one, to get a lot of details to choose from, and then trim things back in revision.

The blankets were unfurled, bed empty, as Keigo came out of the steamy shower. You were still sleeping soundly when he went to the bathroom thirty minutes ago. His urge to send out his feathers to do the searching was suppressed, and he opted to call out your name in the space.

“Over here!” A muffled response resonated from the walk-in closet. He breathed out a sigh of relief, proceeding to the small room. Keigo peeked into the doorway, stifling a giggle at the sight.

“Is this supposed to go around the waist and legs? Or the opposite?” Here you were standing in the middle of a clothes pile, the leather belts tangled around your lower half. “This didn’t come with any instructions, did it?”

Keigo tilted his head to the side. “It goes around the chest and neck, sweetheart.”

You shot back an incredulous look, while slowly detangling yourself from the leather. “I didn’t know you did modeling for BDSM products…”

A chuckle rumbled in his chest, and Keigo moved forward to help you out the accessory. “For the record, the fashion brand insisted it was for avant-garde purposes or some shit.”

You nearly tripped when the belt got caught on your ankle. Keigo caught your waist and set you down as you clung to his chest. He almost pulled away until he felt your nose brushing his collarbone.

“I told you to stop using my body soap. You know how hard it is to find that exact scent in the stores.” Keigo felt you pouting your lips into his skin, while he nuzzled his face into your hair.

“It’s not my fault you choose the good ones. Plus this one sticks to the skin better.” He flashed a cheeky grin at your impassive expression.

“I like the rainforest scent that you use though, it’s earthy and mild.” You mused. Keigo noted the reddening on the tips of your ears. Before he could comment on it, you pushed your body away from him, muttering something about wearing a shirt.

“I was about to get dressed until someone had to excavate every piece of clothing I have in the closet.”

You waved your hands around, “I literally made it easy for you! You can see everything you have now.” You tip-toed around the denim pile pooled around your feet and picked up a navy blue shirt discarded at the side.

Keigo reached out to take it only to have the shirt flung into his face. He sighed internally as he plucked it off his head and slipped into it. You were hunched over a different clothes pile this time.

“I’m still surprised at how many lace items you have in here.” You picked up a lace band, scrutinizing it. “Is this supposed to be a blindfold?”

He stood at your side, thinking back to his previous modeling gigs. “Yeah, I think the designer said they made that especially for me, so I got to keep it.”

You made a mental note to search for every fashion magazine that your boyfriend was featured in. “Huh, that explains the scarlet red details in the patterns.”

“You wanna have it?” Keigo couldn’t hide the playful tone in his voice. You greeted him with a dull glare and threw the lace to some other corner of the closet.

He giggled at your fussy mood, watching you stride over to the other side of the closet. You busied yourself by checking out the jackets you found, some of which still had their price tags on. There were some gaudy ones, definitely made for the runaway and not a walk in the park.

You slightly gasped when you found a simple bomber jacket with vines embroidery on the left sleeve. The color was not too bright and it was nearly your size. You saw a shadow loom over you as Keigo checked out your find.

“Ah, I’ve been meaning to throw that one out, the material looks bad with holes for my wings.”

You cringed at the thought of stabbing holes into this beautiful jacket, then did a double-take. “You’re going to throw it out?”

Keigo met your confused look with his own. “Yeah? Do you want me to donate it to charity instead?”

He saw you cling onto the jacket, pressing it close to your chest as if it would disappear in the air. His lips curled into a small smile. Keigo sat down on the floor next to you, playing with a strand of your hair.

“You’ll look good in it.” He cooed. You beamed at his reply and engulfed Keigo in a tight embrace. He buried his face into your shoulder, kissing it.

“In that case,” you pulled away from the hug and hopped over to another pile of clothes. Keigo raised an eyebrow at the scheming glint in your eye. “Can I have all this then?”

He let out an ungraceful snort at your eager request. “Angel,” the pet name caught your attention. “I let you steal all my other clothes, I don’t get why you have to ask permission for this.”

“At least I actually asked this time.” You sulked, gathering the other clothes you collected. “You didn’t even know most of your boxers vanished from your dresser.”

“My what?” Keigo’s eyes widened, taken aback by the confession. “When did you start stealing my underwear?”

You dared to roll your eyes at him. “If your wings weren’t attached to your back, you wouldn’t even know it disappeared if it did.”

Immediately, his feathers ruffled at the remark. “You don’t know that. I have like the keenest senses.” Keigo defended.

“Sure thing, Mr. Number Two Hero.”

You let out a squeal as Keigo tackled you to the ground. His wings and arms caged you in as he hovered his lips over yours. “You sure act tough for someone so easy to tower over.”

You clicked your tongue at him, hands pressing on his chest. “You are a child.”

Keigo had a satisfied look in his eye. Whatever quip you had ready, it got stuck in your throat as he sealed your lips with his own. His delicate lips moved slowly around your mouth, tongue protruding to lick yours. You couldn’t help the soft whimper escape you as he gently pulled away.

“That’ll shut up that smart mouth of yours.”

You groaned, moving your head to the side. “I can never win against you.”

A snicker left him, nuzzling his nose on yours. “You already won when you stole my heart.”

“...”

“Okay, that was awful.”

You pecked his cheek. “I still love you even though your jokes are cheesy as hell.”

“Thank you.” His hands moved to rub your arms. “I’ll continue loving you too even if you steal everything in my wardrobe.”

You snickered at the jab. Realization dawned on you as you lay down on the ground with him.

“So, you’re going to clean up all this mess, right?”

Needless to say, no cleaning was done as you were smothered in more kisses and teasing.

Takamaki Ann

She loves to pamper you. Be it buying you stuff, treating you her favorite desserts, or staying over at your place and dressing you up with cute outfits. You try to do the same for her and she enjoys it as well.

A LOT of PDA, though it’s not over the top. She’d pepper kisses all over your face whenever she’s excited. Or always bury her face in your neck whenever she needs to be closer to you.

Even though Ann hasn’t dated anyone before you, she definitely learned and read up on how to be the best girlfriend. Probably read those relationships magazines (she denies it though)

Ann prefers simpler dates at the park or karaoke, but she wouldn’t mind making reservations for fancier restaurants if there’s an occasion. Would definitely choose buffets over the 5-star restaurant though.

Speaking of occasions, she’s the type to have celebrations for every little thing you guys do together as a couple. It can range from monthsaries, your first beach date, or your first night together. Ann keeps trinkets with her from every date you two go on.

Ann always has you on her mind. If she sees a new cheesecake shop, she buys it thinking that you would enjoy sharing it with her. When she saw cute phone charms, she bought a pair so you and her would have a “couple-y” item.

Would be into double dates, she doesn’t say it, but it definitely comes from her competitive side of showing off. Ann wants everyone to know she’s dating the best person ever. 💕

Introduces you to her parents through Skype. Ann says she couldn’t wait till her parents come back from their trips, so you could properly meet them. She quells your nervousness by saying that they already approved of you.

Petnames are minimal, but it’s very sweet when she does use them with you. You think it’s because she enjoys the flustered expression on your face when she calls you “baby” or “sweetie”.

Ann’s just a proud girlfriend! Be ready to be treated like the royalty you are, as you made her feel her worth once more.

Niijima Makoto

Similar to Ann, she values your relationship and you greatly. Makoto would be careful as possible around you. Always tending to your needs, mindful of what she says and does around you. There’s constant communication between you and her.

Probably would overheat out of embarrassment if she tries to cling onto you when in public, so hand-holding and touching knees while sitting together is enough for her.

Makoto DEFINITELY researched every possible tip and ‘guide’ on how to be the perfect girlfriend. You insist that she doesn’t need to incorporate all those into your relationship, saying that she’s perfect as the way she is.

With all that studying though, she actually sets up the best dates for you two. She always invites you to a newly-opened restaurant or gets the best seats whenever there’s a film showing nearby.

That said, she still prefers dates in secluded areas, places similar to Leblanc. She has this favorite nature trail that she found out about in dating forums and would take you there on nightly walks, talking about everything and nothing.

Makoto doesn’t announce your relationship to others, thinking that it’s better if people found out naturally. She likes the look on people’s faces when she admits to having a significant other while she acts all innocent and pure about it.

Her sister would openly confront her about your relationship, but Sae is lowkey super supportive of you and her. She says it’s good that someone is at Makoto’s side when she isn’t there.

She acts composed around others, but you’re the only one she lets see her vulnerable side. You tell her it’s adorable that you can easily tease her. (please don’t tease her too much or she’ll implode from being too flustered)

Makoto would think she’s too mature for petnames, but you don’t hold it against her, especially when she says your name with so much love in her voice every time.

Makoto is an observant girlfriend! She says it’s because she wants you to know that she genuinely cares and that she’s grateful to be yours.

Sakura Futaba

Futaba’s relationship with you feels natural from the start, despite her insistence that she would suck being a girlfriend. You reassure her at the start that she would do great with little to no effort, and she does :)

Wouldn’t even think twice about PDA, She feels safe and secure when she’s closer to you, so the more contact, the better. If she could, Futaba would shamelessly cling onto your back like a koala. (and you’d let her)

She says that experience is the best teacher, so she went into your relationship completely blind. The whole thing had its setbacks; she tried to kiss you out of nowhere one time, since “that’s what couples do, right?” You told her that there was no rush, and she was grateful for that.

She’s a fast learner though, and it manifests in her innocent but sincere gestures. When she thinks that you’re sad, she tells you jokes or shows you a meme she liked on her phone. Futaba thinks that whatever makes her happy, might cheer you up too.

Absolutely loves talking about her interests to you, because she knows that you would never judge her or question what she likes. You enjoy being on the listening side, since the way Futaba lights up is enough for you.

Alternatively, she’s a very active listener whenever you would talk about your day or share something about your interests. Futaba encourages you to tell her more about it, and on her own time, she learns about your said interests so she can participate in the conversations better.

In terms of interests, she convinced you to play video games with her (if you don’t already play) and it’s already a date for the two of you. Dates always involve either trips to Akihabara, arcade hopping, or the park when she wants quiet times with you.

Sojiro enjoys seeing you two interact whenever you guys stop by at Leblanc. When Futaba was in the restroom, he whispered to you saying that he hasn’t seen Futaba this energetic ever since she was a kid. That meant a lot to you.

She started calling you exaggerated names like “my lovely sweetheart babycakes” or “little fluffball whiskers”. Other than that, her favorite petname for you was “bub”, since she said the funny word fit you well. You love hearing it from her too.

Futaba is a heartfelt girlfriend! Your bond with each other has always been close, and now you get the chance to be closer.

Okumura Haru

Haru would be reserved from openly showing affection at the start, but you give her all the time and space she needs. She appreciates it greatly and reciprocates the effort in kind.

PDA is a no-no, although she does unknowingly flirt with you in the sweetest way. She has a way with words that makes the simplest compliment seem like the highest praise, and it’s enough to make you feel loved.

With her training for marriage, she obviously knows the basic aspects of a relationship. Taking care of you comes naturally to her, yet you were there to show her that she can receive the same amount of love that she readily gives to you.

You teased her about how she acts more like a mother to you, and she misunderstood and profusely apologized (poor sweetheart). Haru explains that she loves seeing you thrive and be happy, which in turn makes her happy.

It started as an innocent suggestion, but Haru wanted to write love letters to you from time to time. In most instances she would pass it onto you after a date, saying that you should read it when you get home. Other times she would quietly slip it in your bag as a surprise for you to find.

You’ve come to appreciate the craft that Haru puts into the letters. She always chooses the delicate papers, sometimes scented. And other letters had pressed flowers in the envelope. The most precious thing in the letter though was her confessions and affirmations.

Haru lets you choose your date locations since she wants to be more accustomed to city life. You once brought her to a conveyor belt sushi place, and you couldn’t handle the joy in your eyes when you saw her be fascinated about it. “It just moves in little trains! It’s so innovative and cute,” she says.

When you were closer with her, she opened up more about her father to you, even inviting you to visit the shrine dedicated to him in the mansion. That was the first time you saw her cry, and you promised yourself to do your best so you never have to see her like that again.

Romantic petnames suit her well, but she only uses them when you two are alone. Hearing Haru call you “my lily” or “my light” always caught you off-guard no matter how many times you have heard it.

Haru is a compassionate girlfriend! She treats you as delicately as she acts and you know that you’re in good hands with her, as she is with your own.

Is there a limit on the amount of characters we can ask about at a time? Will we get fewer headcanons if we ask for more characters or will it just take more time to write?

in terms of the hc limit, i think 5-8 characters for headcanons is good,,, i miiight consider going over that number if the headcanon is simple enough, but that would be rare. 

and i’d like to have a certain amount of headcanons per post, so I won’t lessen it when there’s more ppl to write about :> that said, yes it will take a bit longer than usual
