Evaluation
For this brief I had to come up with an idea of something that I wanted to do and to make sure that it was supported by a brief that I created, or at least this was my understanding of what the brief was. So I decided to create an app that worked alongside Instagram specifically designed for the fitness industry.
Personally what I believed went well within this brief was that I really enjoyed researching what I did my brief about as it is also something that I am very passionate about as a gym goer myself. As well as designing an app is something that I really enjoyed doing as it is along the field of work that I am looking into to going into that is UX design. I’m very proud of the way my final product looks along with the way I executed and planned my work. From the very beginning I wrote out what I planned on doing for the weeks to come and kept referring to this, I found that really helped. I feel as if this is also one of my more professional piece of work and I’m actually really proud of the way it works as well as the new skills that I was able to learn along the way when it came to the terms of adding effects to make my app work better and flow smoother.
The biggest thing that I didn’t find worked that well was my actual understanding of the brief as I feel as that although I knew what I was doing I often felt as if I didn’t have the best understanding of what I was actually doing along with how I should execute the way I presented my proposal as I feel that I personally laid that out very unprofessionally and felt like it didn’t really make sense and the connection between what I wanted to achieve with working along side Instagram was unclear. Also after looking back and reviewing the whole of my work I feel as if the colour scheme off my app could have been better as for me personally I just felt as if something was off when it came to the scheme I chose however I didn’t really know how to solve this problem so after weeks of looking through my app I finally settled on a different shade scheme.
To conclude I really enjoyed this brief and felt as if I had excelled in learning new skills, however I feel as if a could have pushed myself further and maybe developed my app with some more complex features than I have. As well as I think I could have presented my work better and went into more detail of why I was doing a fitness app alongside Instagram and what evidence I had to back it up as I think that that wasn’t displayed clearly and could have helped pull my whole presentation together better and helped other people have abetter understanding off what it is I wanted to achieve.

Here are some of the basic wire frames that i have created. My next step is to create a prototype of the app.

Here is evidence of me getting other peoples opinion of my wire frames and improving on the criticism given.
My main reason for not doing very basic wire frames is because as i’ve already said i wanted to keep the design very similar to that of Instagram so therefore their was only a few things that i needed to change i have also had more conversations with my peers about the placements of icons and navigation.

Here i started to look at what i could call my app i wanted it to be very based around fitness and staying within the theme so i researched and grouped together words that fitted in with the theme of the gym, i then highlighted the words i liked the most. For me this was Flex and Motivated.
what does Flex mean:  Flex is a slang term meaning "to show off," whether it be your physique, your belongings, or some other thing you consider superior to others. The act of flexing is often criticized as a power move, considered arrogant and insincere.
I then decided i really wanted to go with the word Flex, so started then putting together other words that fitted with flex e.g. sayings that are used in the gym/ words that are associated with influences.
I then came up with MyFlex

here i compared apps that are already on the market and looked at how they compared to the app that i want to create.
All of the apps that i have looked at have been more aimed at people who want to track their progress. i want my app to be more of a social media, a platform where influences are more able to reach out and where the users profile is very basic. and the user is unable to post themselves but rather promote other influences by saving their videos and that is what will be displayed as the users content.

Here is the backwards engineering for Instagram. as you can see i’ve gone through what it all looks like along with talked what i want my app to look like compared to the both of them and also what will be added on as essentially both users and influences will have different apps with a few different features.

Fitness deemed "fastest growing business sector" in the UK
The value of the UK fitness club market has been valued at £5.1bn – a figure which is expected to grow by more than 8 per cent each year.
The latest in-depth survey of the UK fitness club market – Project Fitness UK 2018, published by Allegra Strategies – projects a compound annual growth rate of 8.5 per cent in value and a 5 per cent increase in the number of gyms and health clubs over the next five years.
Allegra’s estimates are based on significant growth to date – 7.1 per cent in value terms since 2013.
Having increased its retail footprint by 15.1 per cent since 2012, the health and leisure centre sector is deemed to have been the fastest growing business sector in the UK over the last five years.
Between 2013 and 2018, the number of private sector clubs increased from 3,269 to 4,400, although the public sector contracted from 2,750 to 2,680 facilities.
The growth has been fuelled by increasing awareness – and actual experience – of the benefits of exercise on both physical and mental health.
The rise in obesity, heart disease and diabetes has further highlighted the need to alter sedentary lifestyles, and government initiatives and sporting events have given the industry a further boost, as have technological developments.
Given the fitness club market should now be in a mature state of development, and taking into account economic forecasts for the UK generally, these are impressive growth estimates.
