I’ve noticed that people sometimes draw Sonic as unhinged and mysterious in some game Sonic fanart but I feel like this trope could also work for Movie Sonic as well but instead of being scary, he’s just a kid with attachment issues.

Sonic was stalking the Wachowski’s for years. He spied on Tom when he was working, secretly watched movies with them from the widow, probably stole some of their stuff to add to his cave collection, and had voyeuristic (I’m using this word in a nonsexual manner) tendencies by watching Maddie do her yoga.

Sonic yearned to be a part of their family, dreamed to be held by them like how they hold Ozzy- and now that he has them, he doesn’t want to let go.

If there’s any song that describes what Sonic feels about Tom when he was in his stalker era, it’s probably this one. I know it’s a song about a girl missing her dream man that she hasn’t met yet, but I can also interpret it as a stalker song. :)
