What's the process if you're a superhero and you come out as trans
Do you tell your villains?
Do you keep it a secret so no one can connect Spider-Man with your secret identity for a while? Or do you pop a pronouns pin on your costume and the next time you web up Doctor Octopus and he goes "I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME SPIDER-MAN" you go "Spider-Girl actually! I've been figuring out some shit"

i do love how vault!hari has become a kind of representation of the pitfalls of AI. it can help you out exponentially as long as your problem fits the parameters of its initial programming--i.e. hari's stored memories and his plan--but confront it with something unexpected like an outlier or out-of-the-box scenario or mind-controlling mutant aberration and suddenly the program becomes entirely useless. in s2 vault!hari was able to adjust its plans and call for hober mallow because it had been fed a new set of data by its encounter with salvor. but salvor hadnt told it about the mule, only the second foundation, so now we see the program hitting the limit of its capabilities--because that's simply what it is. fancy software meant to execute a task. and now it's irrelevant.

Yeah, this is a good time to stop news-scrolling and go read some fanfic
And what a giveaway line: “Product-market fit is people believing that it works.” ...Jeez, guys, showing your hands much??
Your customer inevitably dies and has no legal recourse. And you get to keep their money. It's perfect! Not least because the whole thing rests on the idea that sometime in the far future, scientists (or even more greedy venture capitalists?) will wake your perfectly-preserved brain up.
...And if they don't? What, are your relatives going to sue them from the past? Bwahahaha.
And are you sure that your mind's definitely associated with that organ? People in some venues are still arguing about that.
And who owns the contents of your brain? Can't wait for the first court case... a couple hundred thousand years from now, maybe. If ever.
There are, like, about a hundred possible SF/horror novels flowing from this concept. If not more. ...It's a good thing I'm busy this week. 😏

I'd like to share with y'all a project I've poured my heart and soul into over the last couple of years: a database cataloguing every single older queer science fiction book I've managed to track down, consisting of just over 200 titles with LGBT characters/themes & by LGBT authors, spanning over a century (1880-2000) 🚀
The database can be filtered by representation, subgenre, whether the book is currently in print, and more; additionally, it includes my own ratings & brief thoughts on the ones i have read, if anyone needs a suggestion on places to start! (or feel free to shoot me an ask for a more personalized recommendation)

Capitalism, yaaaay!
four books in to the murderbot diaries i can't help but notice that every massacre that appeared to be caused by secunits going rogue is turning out to have been caused by someone else taking control of them or infecting them with malware and then staging it to look like the secunits did it on purpose. im getting real suspicious of this narrative the humans all seem to be buying into where secunits killing indiscriminately at the first opportunity is a legitimate risk that happens all the time. if there have really been cases where that happened they have not been specifically mentioned by any of the characters. 🤔

gurathin so excited for murderbot to come home with them, now that he finally understands it, even if it is still a massive asshole (pot, kettle, black), which means he understands perfectly when murderbot needs to check the perimeter (not of the room but of its life, its existence, as a free agent). and gurathin probably desperately wants to make up for his suspicion and paranoia, wants murderbot to know he understands it, wants to say i held the whole of you inside myself, but simply nods and holds back the tears because he knows murderbot now, and knows this is what it needs. dont fucking touch meeeeeeee

anne rice writing the gayest vampire book series of all time and literally creating the model. and then deciding she does not like when people make her gay vampires gay in their fanfiction. and does not like people co-opting her vampires to write their own stories about them. and just generally does not like gay fanfiction about her gay vampires to the point of literally sending cease and desist letters threatening legal action against people who are writing gay fanfiction about her gay vampires. and then subsequently failing to advance this to such an extent that fanfiction in general (regardless of fandom) has arguably been strengthened in its legality because of her failed efforts. and then she dies and they make a tv series out of her most famous work (the one about the vampires). and in this universally critically acclaimed tv show they add a bunch of stuff in a way that technically makes it a Transformative Work (fanfiction) and makes the vampires SUPER duper gay. and inspires ten thousand new fanfictions to be written. about anne rice’s gay vampires. :)

Oh, Gurathin is ABSOLUTELY spending the next six months beset by insistent earworms of random bits of Sanctuary Moon dialogue. He's also reasonably sure he now knows how to pilot a starship. Thanks he hates it.
The others finally threaten to intervene when he starts humming the theme music in the boring parts of meetings...

I know show probably implies murderbot literally missing episodes, but what if it missing memories of watching them. And what if this memories somehow stuck with gurathin, so now he have to watch all of sanctuary moon, because even if he hates it, the half knowledge of what's going on is driving him crazy.

Today I was chatting with two guys and mentioned I was aroace. It went a little something like this.
A: wtf is that
B: it means she’s not attracted to people in that way
A: bro you can’t just not pick a side, that’s crazy
B: nah, it just means she’s spectator mode
A: OHHH IT MAKES SENSE NOW
I have never felt more validated or laughed so hard
