"President Donald Trump abruptly fired Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden as the White House continues to purge the federal government of those perceived to oppose the president and his agenda.

"Hayden was notified in an email late Thursday from the White House’s Presidential Personnel Office, according to an email obtained by The Associated Press. Confirmed by the Senate to the job in 2016, Hayden was the first woman and the first African American to be librarian of Congress.

"'Carla,' the email began. 'On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service.' A spokesperson for the Library of Congress confirmed that the White House told Hayden she was dismissed.

"Hayden, whose 10-year term was set to expire next year, had come under backlash from a conservative advocacy group that had vowed to root out those standing in the way of Trump’s agenda. The group, American Accountability Foundation, accused her and other library leaders of promoting children’s books with 'radical' content and literary material authored by Trump opponents.

"'The current #LibrarianOfCongress Carla Hayden is woke, anti-Trump, and promotes trans-ing kids,' AAF said on its X account earlier Thursday, just hours before the firing was made public. 'It’s time to get her OUT and hire a new guy for the job!''"

Merwil Gutiérrez, 19, was deported to El Salvador despite his family’s claims that he has no criminal record or gang affiliation

19-year-old Merwil Gutiérrez was among the hundreds of Venezuelans deported to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

While Gutiérrez was being detained, ICE agents allegedly indicated that he wasn’t their intended target but were told to “take him anyway.”

Gutiérrez was seeking asylum in the U.S. and had an immigration court date scheduled for 2027.

Donald Trump’s interview with ABC News’ Terry Moran featured a bonkers moment on Tuesday when the president appeared to suggest that an edited photo depicting tattoos of Kilmar Ábrego García was the real deal. Trump — in an interview marking the 100th day of his second term — told Moran that Ábrego García, a Maryland man mistakenly deported to a Salvadoran prison, had MS-13 “tattooed” on his knuckles in a printed picture he shared from the Oval Office earlier this month. “It says ‘MS-13,’” Trump asserted. “That was Photoshop, so let me just —,” Moran said. “That was Photoshop? Terry, you can’t do that,” replied Trump, who went on to argue that MS-13 is as “clear as you can be” on Ábrego García. The photo shows the text symbols “M,” “S,” “1” and “3” digitally added above tattoos of a marijuana leaf, a smiley face, a cross and a skull, respectively. Moments earlier, Moran swiftly hit back at Trump’s claim about Ábrego García, whose family and attorneys have denied that he’s a gang member. “He had MS-13 on his knuckles, tattooed,” Trump said. “He had some tattoos interpreted that way. But let’s move on,” Moran said. “Wait a minute. Hey, Terry, Terry, Terry. Don’t do that,” replied Trump before Moran continued. “He did not have the letter, ‘M,’ ‘S,’ ‘1,’ ‘3,’” Moran noted. Petulant jerk Donald Trump acted like a class clown in front of ABC’s Terry Moran, even after being called out over his usage of a manipulated picture to justify the deportation of Kilmar Ábrego García to baselessly paint him as “MS-13.”
