The way he looks at her, he is in LOVE. This isn’t lust or just something he’s doing before he dies. He is amazed and in awe of her, of her power and ferocity, but also of her gentleness and trust she has for him. I don’t think I’ve seen a look so clearly acted in all of my life, one that says so much much with so little. The tilt of his head and small amazed smile says everything without a word.

“Jacob, that man Tina’s been seeing… yes, but he’s an Auror, Queenie said?”

While Jacob reminiscing his time with Queenie, my boy Newt looks very miserable and sad. I have the feeling he’s not looking at the lovers and thinks as it’s him and Tina. But he looks at them as if they’re Tina and Tolliver. Having a date, in a cafe somewhere in New York. Tina, happy with her new man. And he’s thinking if he can still win her back, after all the efforts and the stupid decisions he took to get him and Jacob to Paris. After weeks of no exchanged words between them.  After weeks of no progress from his effort to get a travel visa.

Or maybe if it doesn’t work at least he will let her know that he’s not engaged. That he has changed, he’s not the same guy still holding on to the past, carrying a photograph of an ex-love inside his case. Now he’s carrying her picture, the woman he’s been thinking about daily for a year inside his pocket, where he placed his valuable stuff.

At least he will let her know that.
