Ha! I was wondering why Snake on a Train got a random traffic spike. Thanks, Tumblr, for playing my little jam game.
So, I love looking through your game recs, and all of them look so interesting!
The only problem is that I have zero money at the moment, or at least zero that can be spent of games.
I don’t suppose you know any good/enjoyable games that are free or have a demo?
(There is only so much time you can spend doing housework or looking for work and I’ve replayed and replayed the games I’ve already got so many times)
It’s funny you should ask. Folks often ask me how the hell I have thousands of games in my Steam library, and the answer is, well, a substantial chunk of them are free to play. Many of them are very, very bad, but there are exceptions – I’ve placed links to the 120 or so that I’d actually recommend to other people under the cut.
A lot of these games are quite short (i.e., average playing time in the five to fifteen minute range), but they're free, so really that's good value for your money! Note: owing to the length of this list, I will not be including descriptions or content warnings – be sure to check the writeups and reviews.
I’ve marked my personal top dozen with asterisks (*). These aren’t necessarily the most approachable or well-constructed titles on this list, mind – just the ones I had the most fun with.

I need y'all to appreciate the cosplay I wore to table at GeekGirlCon.
I soldered and programmed the eyepiece. I paper-mached my head. I GLUED THE EAR TO MY FACE. APPRECIATE IT!
...I was fully committed to the build before I remembered it was a masks-required event, but that's fine, I would have worn the mask anyway and it actually kept the eyepiece in place after the spirit gum failed.
In conclusion, Lower Decks is great, please watch Lower Decks.

All the advice I've read about Kickstarters say to run your campaign during the season your backers would use your thing, rather than when you expect them to receive your thing. So like, Kickstart your beach towels in June, even if backers won't get them till January. Makes sense.
But I just ran across this dice Advent calendar, which is over 200% funded here on June 6. Just goes to show you that, while looking at trends can be helpful, it's important to remember they're not absolute rules.

So for some reason I spent the past few days making this
It's a simple web app that lets you keep track of the kind of reading you do chapter by chapter, over weeks or months or years.
Do I expect anyone but me to use it? No--which is why it has this color scheme--but it's public, you totally can. (Please let me know if you do! I did not put any kind of analytics on it.)
Was it fun to make? YES, because I made it all in Svelte. And I do mean ALL - it utilizes the browser's local storage instead of a database. No server. A user's data never leaves their computer (unless they print it, or export it and send the exported file somewhere, which are totally options.)
Sometimes at work, I get so caught up in all the work-related nonsense that I start to wonder if I'm actually any good at my job. Doing little projects like this is reassuring.
