being the second child is so lame when your older brother has no fortunes to inherit or power to come into. all of my scheming younger brother tendencies are being completely wasted like it’s not even worth putting all my efforts into usurping him and taking his place as heir. it’s not even worth it

Behold the dazzling carpet chameleon (Furcifer lateralis). Also known as the jewel chameleon, this Madagascan reptile can grow up to 9.8 in (25 cm) long. Males of this species are territorial, intimidating rivals with elaborate displays that include hissing, body flexing, and color changing. This critter is a voracious eater that feeds almost exclusively on insects. To catch prey, it creeps as close as possible before launching its sticky, projectile tongue to snatch up food. This lizard’s tongue can measure nearly the full length of its body!

Quietly losing my mind over the fact that Elon Musk has straight up orchestrated a coup of our executive branch and like....I don't even know what, if any, system we have in place to fix this. Like... He's just taken control of the money and locked out the actual appointed officials. What the fuck.

Kindergarten-level math research papers:
Field: Combinatorial Number Theory
Journal: Communications in Addition and Subtraction
Title: A Lower Bound on the Largest Natural number
Abbreviated Abstract: We prove a lower bound on the largest number. The proof proceeds in two steps: we begin with 1, and proceed by induction as until we lose count. We then add that number to itself. The main advance in the first step is to get a big number, and the second step notably avoids using multiplication (they don't teach that until 3rd grade).
Field: Topological Geometry
Journal: Advances in Nonlines
Title: The Four-Color Scribbles
Abbreviated Abstract: In this work we show a zoo of examples of nonlines (curves) with the unique property that they are either red, blue, orange, or purple, or some combination therein. The key idea is to use less colors rather than more, creating a clear and easy to follow proof. This provides a clear basis for simplifications to further work, such as scribbling with 5 colors.
Field: Playground Analysis
Journal: Slide Dynamics
Title: Sufficient Conditions to Yell Weeeeeee on Spiral Slides
Abbreviated Abstract: We identify sufficient conditions for a slide to cause joy. We identify a notion of a "fun slide," and prove that fun slides are a sufficient condition to make someone go Weeeee on a slide. We then verify a spiral slide is a fun slide, and provide numerous examples and non-examples (notably, a ramp is really not fun to slide down).

Now I'm no math person and have not dived deep into math to reach this point, but I become more and more convinced that math wasn't simply a human creation. But rather, it is quite literally infused into the universe's identity.
Real horror movie material here.
It's so funny to me that people think of Math/Mathematicians as being hyper-logical and rational. Like, have you seen some of the wild things hiding in the Math?
Did you know there are non-computable numbers?? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaitin%27s_constant)
Did you know that there are things that are true, but we can't prove them??? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del%27s_incompleteness_theorems)
Did you know that we can prove that something exists, and yet never actually figure out what that thing is?? (https://mathworld.wolfram.com/NonconstructiveProof.html)
Math is crazy. Math is wild. Math hardly makes sense, and when you think you understand the weirdest parts of it, everyone who hears you explain it to thinks you're a gibbering lunatic.
"In mathematics you don’t understand things. You just get used to them." - von Neumann
(please share more unhinged math with me, i want to see more scary math)

Part 1 of Curly's Time Travel Chronicles! A product of the many fics I have read in the past week. Enjoy (Most of the dialogue of Curly's thinking is very stream of consciousness, so it's not gonna be very "organized)!
