Dark, gritty and covered in fog.
Another night of debauchery took place at Winters Tavern a few weeks back when the twisted sounds of White Fuzzy Bloodbath curled in the air and set the ambiance for a blurry evening of nostalgic filth. It also reminded me of why I missed being in a band. The trio consists of a heavy foundation of 70′s influenced, thumpy bass riffs, screaming guitar sections and powerful, crashing drums which mixed exceptionally well with my heavy gut filled with craft beers. I liked them quite a bit.
Being there, you felt the barrier between the past and present bend as the scene could have easily taken place thirty years prior. As I flopped around taking way too many pictures and drinking way too many beers I experienced a rush come over me as my heart synched up with the melodic thud. It felt familiar, it felt chaotic, it felt timeless. I was white and fuzzy and this would be my bloodbath.
I met the band briefly after their set and shot the shit for a while before gnoming around the premises like I owned the fucking place. I had another beer or two, lost my jacket and wandered off towards the ocean before finding my crumbling homestead and falling asleep. The night was solid and I felt great.
I went back and found my jacket the next day curled up on the stage somehow.

DEMOB- Winters Tavern- 2016
I heard a light rapping at my window around 10pm on a Friday night which spurred me from my chaotic pile of pens and paper. It was my neighbor CJ, a mountain of hair and muscle with the forever happy face sewn by Jim Henson. He was headed to his Bar around the corner, Winters Tavern in Pacifica and wanted to invite me to what he dubbed ‘an evening of pure chaos with old punks’ to which he knew I couldn’t pass up. I agreed to mosey on down a bit later and he scratched away in the night on his skateboard and flip flops.
Around 11:30 i finally made my way through the ornately carved wooden doors to find a sea weathered denim and and studded shoulders. the Crowd was energetic and swirling in currents around the stage and prominent beer taps that fueled the event. I spotted CJ and he invited me up to the green room for some joints, rare beer and good conversation with a menagerie of old punks from around the country. I smoked and chatted and intoxicated myself to a thorough degree while we waited for the headliners to unleash their mayhem. A man with a heavy British accent standing nearly 7 feet tall was smoking a blunt through a novelty children’s motorcycle helmet that barely passed his nose grabbed me by the shoulder and huddled me downstairs just as the cymbals were set and the bass tested for clarity. It was about to get shitty in here.
The crowd surged forward and I made my way in as legendary punk ensemble Demob began shirking out their classics to the tattered array of old and new punks. The bar is shrinking on us as shoulders and elbows start flying and the ‘pit’ forms resembling an ant hill in summer. I’m swirled and shoved through the mess as the bass stamps a steady pace and the cleanly shaven head of the singer jabs in and out of view. I push through the scrum and snap a few pictures as the clash of drums and guitar-riffs dig deeper into my gray matter. This is the spirited mayhem of old punk that can only be reflected in the rattiest of modern acts but rarely if ever duplicated. I’m thrown and I throw. I push and I fall but, I know I’m fortunate to be beaten appropriately by this enthusiastic crowd. I see CJ go down and a wave of beasts rush towards him for what I can only assume is a mild beat down for some perceived slight on his part and throw my bloated corpse between them to quell the oncoming onslaught. They back away and I pick up this 280 lb rock of a man by the torso, throwing us both back onto our feet without missing a beat. We continue on hurling ourselves around for well over a dozen, pulsing songs.
At the end I hang out with the band and offer a hand with some of the heavier chunks of equipment. CJ, the boys of Demob and I pass around another blunt or two, discuss old punk and drink a few cheap beers before calling it a night. I stumble home around 3am in a blur, toss down my pyramid spiked jacket and collapse into my filthy bed.

My tribute to Chhinnamasta, Goddess of Self Sacrifice. This one took a while... Chhinnamasta ("She whose head is severed"), is one of the Mahavidyas, ten Tantric goddesses and a ferocious aspect of Devi, the Hindu Divine Mother. Chhinnamasta can be easily identified by her fearsome iconography. The self-decapitated goddess holds her own severed head in one hand, a scimitar in another. Three jets of blood spurt out of her bleeding neck and are drunk by her severed head and two attendants. Chhinnamasta is usually depicted standing on a copulating couple.

Here it is! the final unveiling of my huge mural project. In total I covered 600 sq. feet of space in this lovely San Francisco residential hallway and I can honestly say it was one of my favorite projects to date.

Here are some better photos of my progress on the hallway murals. In total its over 600 square feet and painted with indoor matt acrylic house paint. The process for this mural is a lot different than my other projects because the hallway is a tight space so all the elements need to be drawn directly on the wall, rather than using projection or gridding, and visually experienced from different angles. Once its finished there will be a lot of tiny details added and everything will be crisp and (hopefully) super fun to walk through. I have been enjoying this project very much and hope you all like the progress. There is still SO MUCH to do so stay tuned!
