Nina had taken the evening out from the stressful chores involved in moving to a completely new city to walk around one of the neighborhoods she hadn’t yet visited. She had been to all the other ones when looking at real state before deciding on a little but charming row house in one of the most affordable family neighborhoods. Alicia also looked like she needed some air after all the time she had had to spend drawing while her mother unboxed all kitchen related items. Her drawings were the main line of communication between the two, as Alicia was in the spectrum and nonverbal. She had drawn something you didn’t really need to be a psychologist to interpret: a haunted house, within a scary city. Needless to say Alicia had been having a little bit of a hard time with all the changes.
She picked the five year-old up, who protested with groans, and said: “Mon amour, we should get some air. Perhaps we could ignore the cold and get some ice cream?” Alicia’s protesting ceased when she heard the magic words. The young mother sat her down on the baby stroller, in which she immediately got distracted with the toys attatched to it and started to repeatedly knock one of them - a small pink elephant - on one of the protection bars of the stroller.
It wasn’t long until she found a nice looking ice cream shop. It seemed to have more flavors than she could ever attempt to choose from, so she just picked Alicia’s favorite, pistacchio, on a larger size. Her little eyes lit up at the mere sight of her favorite ice cream and Nina paid for it, before taking a moment to look around and realize she wasn’t exactly by herself there.

“so i wasn’t completely clueless, i know a slight FRACTION of the work you do.” she stated with a light chuckle. “i feel like i’ve had one of those crisis’ before, sort of why are we here thoughts. though i feel like that’s common for people or at least hopefully. so is it a study on the mind in general or just those specific type of thoughts?” jaslene questioned, head tilted to the side some. “i work for a production company at the chicago film studios. my official title is creative director, i also help write for and produce different content.”
head nodding softly as she listens to the other talk about her daughter. “it’s good that she stillenjoys it, the lights and ornaments are always the best part of the tree too. is it just certain textures she doesn’t like?” giving an appreciative smile, she shook her head. “i’m good, still have plenty of latte left, but thank you for asking.”
"Okay, hang on." She stood up and ordered a cup of capuccino from the counter, still surprised at the kind of interactions she was finding herself in a coffee shop. Was it Chicago? Maybe just that specific place? Or perhaps was she just lucky to have met one of the few people around who was actually interested in listening? As a therapist she had lived a lifetime of hearing and not much talking, balanced solely by the amount she had to speak while teaching. That was probably the only topic which she felt fully comfortable talking about.
She grabbed the capuccino and sat back down, turning her attention back to the stranger. "Intuition is actually very important when talking about philosophy. So yeah, your intuition wasn't far from the truth! Existentialism and Phenomenology are two philosofical lines which attept to answer questions like that. But what I actually do is, I teach other fellow psychologists to use these lines as sets of theoretical tools for the clnical practise, see?" She had a sip, focused on getting the information across as clearly as possible - force of habit to a professor. "So when we, as therapists, receive patients, we should be able to help them access their own angst and suffering; after having studied Existentialism and Phenomenology.
"Your job seems cool. Any work of yours I should check out?" She asked, interested, as she had another sip. "Alicia is very sensitive to touch, she doesn't like textures if they're not completely smooth. That makes it hard to get her winter clothing sometimes."
Bonsoir.

“no idea what that meant but it sounded.. french?” he was terrible with languages but did speak spanish fluently which didn’t help this case. “pollution and all. she said it.” liam snickered quietly when looking down into his mug, thinking about it. “not sure, can’t decide what i’d want to have this time.”
She hid a chuckle in, worried he would be offended by her reaction. "Yeah, it's french. I'm from Québec, so it's my first language. It means 'after the rain, the good weather." Nodding at his response regarding the coffee, Nina stood up and looked at the board with the options. "Me neither. I feel like I always get the same order."

“that is actually a damn good idea. we could even make some that change colours, depending if they are dry or wet” he mused, head tilting to the side as he looked over at the other “genius minds always find each other.” he wiggled his eyebrows before shaking his head when he couldn’t help but chuckle at his own words “i liked the sounds of stranger, it had a ring to it. so much better than ethan.”
"The name's Nina Beaumont. Although it's also not as good as 'stranger'." She extended her hand to shake his. "It's a pleasure doing business with you, Ethan." She giggled, glaring at him."What if we make a diving suit that changes color if the water is not appropriate for swimming? Or costumers would be stylish, skin cancer-free and safe from contamination."

as the woman spoke about her job, jaslene simply listened intently, brows lifting just slightly with a series of nods. a light laugh slipped passed her lips when asked if she was alreadybored. “actually no, i mean i might be a little lost on what existential-phenomenology is, i have heard of an existential crisis if that’s related, but it does sound like interesting work.”
she took a small sip of her latte. “well christmas is coming up, i’m sure that might help, it’s something to be EXCITED over.”
Nina tilted her head back and couln't help but laugh at her reply. "You know, that's actually very much related to it. An existential crisis is a moment when a person starts to wonder if life has any purpose or meaning. Existentialist philosophers focused a lot on questions like that. Then when joined with Phenomenologic philosophy, we have the theoretical tools we need to help people as psychotherapists." She looked down at her empty mug and then back at her. "It's quite interesting, I love it. How about you, what do you do?"
"She doesn't get excited about many things, but she does like the lights and ornaments. She hates the tree itself, though. Alicia is in the spectrum, you know. She can't stand the feel of its texture, so she mainly just watches me put it up." Nina nodded and gestured towards the counter. "I'm gonna get another one. Would you like anything?"

“yes!” he threw his fist in the air in a victorious manner before a snicker slipped past his lips “i’d say prettier too because some of those suits are awful. but it gotta happen now, we can’t let this slip past our fingers” he joked, fingers idly drumming on the side of his cup while he kept on talking “i’m pretty sure it’d be a hit, and we’ll be swimming in money just like that.”
"We could have them in different prints and make a whole fashion market out of it!" Placing a strand of hair behind her ear, Nina smiled wide and nudged him playfully. "I was time I met a business partner compatible with my genius. Now, do you have a name, or...?"

“what was it for? if that’s not too INTRUSIVE to ask of course.” while genuinely a curious person, jaslene also wouldn’t want to pry into anyone else’s business. sending a warm & friendly smile back, she shakes her head lightly. “you’re fine, and i get it, moving is a pretty tough adjustment, i only came from new york it isn’t exactly so different. though being an adult it’s probably a little easier. but at least she’ll still be able to enjoy winter, with snow and all here.”
Nina shook her head, surprised at her interest. "No, not at all. I got a job at the Dasein Therapy Institute, here in Chicago. I'll be teaching a few introductory classes on Existential-Phenomenology Therapy over there. And I also hope to get a few patients and open a clinic, aswell." Finishing her drink, she chuckled. "Bored yet?"
Her expression changed when thinking about Alicia's adaptation. "You're right, I hope she does get to enjoy it."

Hey guys! I haven't had a break from work ever since I joined, until now, so I haven't had the chance to introduce myself or to plot with anyone haha
My name is Gia , I'm 21 and I'm from Rio, Brazil. I started roleplaying when I was about 14 years old and I haven't done it probably in three years. It's crazy how RPing and tumblr have changed over the years. (Is it just me or the gifs are just getting smaller and smaller?? I'm old and shortsighted, guys, this is tough haha)
Anyways, I've just opened my askbox, so if you'd like to plot I'm more than happy to! There are a few plotlines I'd like to do, so we can discuss them, besides the fact that Nina is a psychotherapist and needs patients :)
Also, you can click here to get a glimpse of her personality and background.
Nice to meet you!

“and i always complain, i feel so shitty now when i think about it.” liam lowered his head a bit embarrassed but laughed it off. he lately complained a lot about living here and missed miami. “though i think the snow is pretty as long as it’s untouched but a city like this will make it look kinda dirty.” he looked down into his empty mug and smiled.
"Nah, don't sweat. It's normal to overcomplain sometimes. I myself do it all the time, but in the end, I''m sure Chicago is going to be great, pollution and all. Après la pluie le beau temps." Nina grinned and finished her drink before looking at his empty mug. "Need another one?"

“one word” he raised one finger as he gave a small nod “diving suit. well it’s two words but you know. though that would defeat the purpose because you’d be dressed from head to toe.” he couldn’t help but chuckle before he started again “though spending all day at the beach does sound nice at the moment.”
She let a chuckle out, squinting her eyes. “You're brilliant, it would be just like a thicker second skin. Perhaps someone can make it lighter and more comfortable for all us poor pale people.” Nina nodded and smiled at him. "We've got business oportunity right here, stranger."

“barbados is nice, definitely a lot WARMER, and always a good vacation option to get a break from winter. i picked chicago mainly because of a job offer, but i do like it here, already used to freezing months so i don’t really mind.”
“Me too, I got a good job offer here, and there was no saying no to it. I'm used the weather aswell, and so is my daughter.” She nodded and had a sip of her espresso. “She's already having a hard time with moving here; had we gone elsewhere warmer she would have been extra upset.” Nina grinned at the stranger before her, apologetically. “Sorry, I'm rambling.”

“It's all about making new traditions! I'm positive the christmas mojitos would help he get used to it.” She chuckled and had a sip of her espresso. “You don't sound like you're from here, also.”

“I haven’t ever been to Montreal, but I know that it’s north so I imagine it’s maybe only slightly warmer here. By maybe ten degrees,” he laughed. “I’m not sure what was going through your mind, honestly. What was going through mine when I decided to stay instead of doing my job literally anywhere else?”
“Yeah, but Montreal is closer to the Atlantic, so the currents ease the cold a little bit.” She shrugged and had a sip of her coffee. “In my case if was mostly about work. I got a job here and also found a really good school for my daughter.” Nina glared at him and grinned before asking; “how about you, what's your excuse?”

“but isn’t it better, thought? I mean, you can always hide from the cold by buring yourself in blankets but if the place is always hot? you are doomed to melt.”
She nodded and grinned. “Indeed, but when it's hot you can just be underwater all day at gorgeous beaches. Too bad my skin would probably peel off if I decided to do that.” Nina protested, holding her mug with both hands.

“barbados wouldn’t be bad at all at least it’s warm. personally i can’t stand this cold weather it’s not meant for me but hey, guess we shouldn’t complain.. right? no?”
She looked up at him from her seat and grinned at his response. “Good to know I'm not alone at this.” Nina raised her mug a little bit in a sign of agreement. “You're right, we shouldn't complain. It's definitely gonna get a lot worse soon.” She chuckled and had a sip of her coffee.
