Fordite beads are spaced in even intervals between two different kinds of African beads. The stringing was done with a round leather cord for body and shape. The pendant was casted in solid silver, made originally from wax carving design. This piece was made with a lot of energy. I was looking at my beads and pendants attempting to match and "married" them. It was as if the elements formed by themselves. I right away knew the piece about to be born had a life of its own. I have a lot of fun making this necklace. There were many surprises in the piece as the elements seem to match perfectly. It hangs well in the body as it looks wide and powerful to others. The fordite beads are a interesting piece of American history. They are recycled by products left from the auto industry. Back in the day they use to pain the cars by hand, and to set the guns they would spray at a factory wall. After many years, a thick layer of paint had solidify into a glass. Someone must have discovered the treasure hidden in these layers of rainbow colors and carved beautiful stones and beads.

The pendant piece was made with thick pieces of silver melted to embrace a turquoise stone. The choker piece was constructed with Chinese turquoise beads. The silver clasp made from scratch with latches male and female and easy to attach. The pendant is 4.5 cm long and 2 cm wide made with solid half melted pieces of silver and oxidized and semi polished. The choker, or the beads and the tubing are 44 inches long. To get the perfect measurement, cut a string measuring 44 inches and see who it fits around your neck. The clasp is 100% hand made, with a one of a kind latch mechanism. The choker is constructed with spacial beading wire and leather separators. This piece when through some transformations before I decided it was ready. At first I had a thick round leather cord connecting the silver tubing. I wasn't very happy with the way it turned out but I didn't have anything else to replaced the leather. For years this necklace was awaiting for the right materials to arrive. One day I've discovered these gorgeous Chinese blue green turquoise that matched the pendant's stone perfectly. It was a happy marriage and the choker is finally ready to see the world. This choker is ready to go to a party.

The necklace laid flat on a table top measure 40 cm from clasp to the tip of the pendant. When clasped around the neck, the tip of the pendant hangs at approximately 20 cm from the chin. The leather is round and orange brown color and 3 mm thick and is augmented by a couple of iron African beads and a brass compression fitting. Pinole is a city in California but this pendant does not have anything to do with the place "per se", even though I have a good friend in Pinole and that might have inspired me use this name. Pinole is a nice name and it reminds me of a pine cone or something natural. The brass bronze is a cool option if you like the gold color but does not want to pay for the price of gold.
