Comfort stuffed animal: I have two: Teddy, my ragdollish bear that I’ve had since I was an actual infant, and Firebear, who is a bear and a fireman.

Comfort Item: My jacket(s). I wear them even in summer (until I get too hot)

Music preferance: I’ve never been good with identifying music genres, but on any given day, I will be listening to a video game OST.

Headphones or Earbuds: I used to be Team Earbuds, but then I got ear infections and I couldn’t use them anymore. So Team Headphones for me! (I sometimes miss my earbuds though)

Best time of day: In between 6:00am and 7:00am.

Not to mention in “Many Unhappy Returns”, Rise Donnie casually mentions that “one season later”, he still has full battery in his Tech-Bo.

Since the 2003 show was much darker in tone and style, it makes sense to avoid any meta jokes, because that would distract our immersion in the story.

(However, that means the 2k3 turtles would be hopelessly confused as to why 80’s Raphael keeps making wisecracks to thin air, not to mention various season and actor references 😉😂😂)

Their shells know the fourth wall is there. To some degree. At this point I think only the 2003 turtles don't know about it. But every other iteration has—at the very least—an inkling of an idea that something is there.

If I had a nickel for every time Bowling for Soup performed the theme song for a show that had the main character’[s] name in the title,

and said main character[s] possessed an extremely high I.Q. and builds crazy inventions every day,

AND is part of a friend group of five,

AND has a friend that is Mexican,

AND has had a family member kidnapped by aliens,

AND has a parent who really loves pies,

AND HAS A CHARACTER WITH CURLY HAIR, GLASSES, FRECKLES, AND IS NAMED CARL—

…then I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. 😉

I find it interesting that nearly every mutant in rise retains their original hair they had pre-mutation. With meat sweats and “Scor-Pion” an exception, of course.

(I think the mutation-inflicted hair loss is really just a matter of character design and chance, seeing as both mutants had hair prior)

I think hair is a big contributor to character and the visual personality of somebody.

Todd’s poofy curly hair is conveying general joyous and pleasant energy, coming across as a kindly camp counselor or puppy foster parent. Repo-Mantis’s grey-streaked, swept back hairdo completes his “shady big-money car dealer” look.

And Leo’s faux beach day hairstyle-

yokai, however, are different. After poring through many pictures of different yokai screenshots and character turnarounds, I can’t conclude any specific precepts or standards for yokai design. (Other than depicting them in the rise art style.) It seems The rise artists took artistic liberties, and I love that.

I did want to say that yokai didn’t have hair, and instead are more animal-leaning, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that it’s completely mixed. Some do, some don’t.

I mean, there are literally double-sided unicorn centaurs. Anything is possible in the hidden city.

can we take a moment to appreciate the art of rise? Every hand-drawn frame, pallet, background- so much dedication and love put into this show. And Nick screwed it over >:(
