the men in jjk fandom are so weirdly obsessed with the panels and the scenes of nanako and mimiko being killed by sukuna. gege doesn't even frame what sukuna does to them as the girls getting "what's coming to them" as curse users. he frames them as children, desperate to save their father, being mercilessly slaughtered.

it's the point in the manga where it becomes clear to readers/viewers that sukuna is irredeemable. awful, gut wrenching scene that's meant to show the difference between people who become evil due to circumstance and someone that has long forgotten what it means to be human. but your average anime dudebro gets off on it 'cause "who cares about some teenage girls lol". the pit falls of gege overestimating the emotional intelligence of a good chunk of of his audience

Utahime's CT finally being revealed has made me so happy. What a powerful technique, and she was drawn so beautifully, but I love what it represents.

So far, it doesn't seem practical for 1v1 battles, but in a group situation, it's perfect: she's a support class, and those are valuable. For a teacher who always preaches teamwork to her students, it makes sense that her Technique would include bulking her allies.

What's more interesting to me is that Gojo became a teacher because he wanted strong allies. He wanted to raise the next generation to fight alongside him. He didn't want to have to be a singular pillar holding everything up, and he didn't want the new generation to feel pressured into being like him. Utahime, to me, feels like the perfect icon for what Gojo meant. She is the perfect symbol for his ideals.

She's someone who can make herself and all of her allies stronger. She embodies teamwork in a field that often celebrates working and dying alone.
