It's International Men's day. This year's theme is better health for boys and men. I find it ironical that while medical studies are done mostly on male patients, no one really encourages them to actually take care of themselves. We talk so much about self love, and it's all about spa and chocolates and makeup*. The only thing I've heard when it comes to men is the "man cave" which honestly sounds quite depressing in itself. Self care is not a gender thing. It's meant for everyone. *As in the consumer group is women. Firstly, it’s not compulsory to like everyone you know. Secondly, the moment you accept your not-so-positive feelings for someone, you are able to let go.

Let go of attempts to ‘fix’ a problem that doesn’t exist, let go of the frustration of not making it work, let go of the expectation to get along with everyone and their second cousin.

Finally, letting go makes it easier to wish them well. What peace!

It's one of those words that evoke disapproval. Well, criticism is not going to affect one of the stark realities of modern life - increasing suicide rates. While India has a suicide crisis in general, globally, the rate of suicide in males is increasing. There are so many problems because of gender based social conditioning. So many crimes. So much injustice. So much that is lost. If we gotta make the world a better place, we must amend the roots. We must begin with the foundation. Children need to understand the value of emotion.
