So much of the French Revolution was horrific and bloody, but I cannot get over the royal family's 1791 escape attempt which unfolded like a Looney Tunes short. They all pretend to be servants to some made-up Russian countess, probably with fake accents and everything. They make absolutely no attempt to stay under the radar. Louis actually gets out of the damn carriage and starts chatting up random people at a rest stop. Fully convinced that they are in Olden Times in which no one is ever recognized, ever. Then the postman is literally like, "I'm sorry, but this guy is acting super sketchy and I'm pretty sure I have a bank note here with his face printed on it??"

Currently sick
Stuck at home on the couch wrapped in a blanket and trying to watch the Liz Taylor Cleopatra, which I have never seen.
Holy shit, I don't know what's worse: being sick or this thing. It is BAD. I'm not crazy about the big Hollywood epics of the '50s and '60s, but most keep my interest with greater ease than this.
About all I like are Liz Taylor's many costume changes. Some are camp delights and some are just plain ridiculous.
