Hi Brown! What's your favorite food?
Hey! I remember you! Well, I'm really fond of chocolate, or well, that faux chocolate I get since I can't have the real thing. But after I joined the Octonauts, I absolutely fell in LOVE with kelp cakes! No matter how many I have, I just can't get tired of them! Would absolutely recommend everyone to try at least one!

Hey Brown! Do you have any sort of catchphrase? Like how Shellington says "jumping jellyfish" or Peso says "flappity flippers"
A catchphrase...? Like Shellington or Peso's...? Well- I- uh... my catchphrase is... uh... I- um, don't have one...
I- I'll be sure to let you know if I come up with one! If I do...
Man, how am I supposed to come up with one this late? If I actually said it, it'd probably be really awkward, especially since I'd have never said it before... I mean- I'd love to have a catchphrase just like them, but-
W- wait, why am I writing all this down?
I'm too shy to start using one T-T

Nix: "Ah. Glad it all worked out. My daughter did not hide her excitement when she ran into the Octonauts. But they didn't mind at all."
Nix: "Have you ever thought about your funeral arrangements? It's never too early."
Is that some kind of threat? Lol
I mean, not really, I guess?
(I'm not sure, but I feel like this was meant for the ask blog, maybe?? Idk)

Nix: "Ah, I see."
Nix: "I wonder... How did you end up becoming an Octo-Agent?"
Oh hello!! You're the mortician right? Pretty cool!
It's a really long kind of complicated story...
Weeellll before the Octonauts I used to travel around North America by myself doing my geology things... it was actually pretty lonely now that I think about it... anyway! That's what I was doing right before everything happened. I was up on these cliffs overlooking the ocean, and I had just found this neat limestone but then the cliff kind of cracked and fell into the sea and I fell with it.
I don't remember much after that, but when I woke up, I was on the Octopod. Peso patched me up as best he could, but I was really badly hurt, and a lot of it just had to heal with time so because of that I ended up staying on the Octopod for a while.
It was really scary at first. I was in this new place with a bunch of strangers, and I was completely reliant on them after being on my own so long. Peso and the Captain were the easiest to start to trust, but I think that was because they were the ones I was spending the most time with towards the beginning — Peso made everyone, except Cap of course, avoid coming to the Sickbay unless they needed to because he didn't want them to scare me.
Anyway! I do know now what actually happened after I fell. Basically the Octopod's steering went super out of control, they crashed into this cliff, it crumpled taking me down with it, they all go outside to check the rubble for creatures, and find me!
It took me a really long time to fully recover, but I got close with the rest of the crew eventually and... I don’t know. Once it was time for me to leave, they let me stay. I got offered the official title and I just never left!
Okay I think that's it... I warned you it was a long story!!

The smallest of the Revenants
Real Names: Timber and Lucy
Voice Actors: Colleen O’Shaughnessy (Timber) / Dee Bradley Baker (Lucy)
Species: Modified Timber Wolf and Robotic Canine Companion
Genders: Cis Male (Timber) / Female (Lucy)
Orientation: Aroace (Timber) / N/A (Lucy)
Affiliation: Ambrosia
Foil: Shellington and the Vegimals
Biography: The youngest and smallest of the Revenants, a secret task force consisting of extinct animals in service to the shadowy organization, Ambrosia. Even more so than Medea, their presence on the team is a mystery to all but Dr. Kabore, the one who brought Icarus in as baby and later recommended Circe's construction of Argos. Yet despite their ages, Icarus' fascination with studying wildlife and prodigy-level intellect matched with Argos' ability to record and playback vast amounts of information have proved a boon on countless missions.
As one might expect of someone so young, Icarus has much to learn, both of the outside world and of the various dynamics taking place around him. Curious to a fault and optimistic as well, he often stumbles into situations too big for him to chew due to either his desire to learn up close and personal or drive to help those in need (even his enemies). However, he is also a quick learner and more perceptive than he appears, especially in regards to others' feelings.
Argos is Icarus' loyal guard dog, originally a defective Anibot destined for scrap, now rebuilt to keep an eye on the boy whenever the other Revenants and Kabore are not available. Despite her friendly demeanor and soft color palette, Argos is very capable at her job thanks to her blinding speed, durability, and taser-like capabilities, specifically her bite which can paralyze a target for extended periods of time.
Lately, though, neither Icarus nor Argos can help but feel something is off - and perhaps has been even before their induction into the Revenants. Kabore, the other Revenants, Ambrosia: everyone seems to be keeping secrets and nothing else, but maybe through the Octonauts and their allies, the two pups can finally find some answers...
On a side note, Icarus is quite musically talented, able to pick up and learn a variety of different instruments. Lately, he's been gravitating towards the accordion, although he's yet to find someone willing to teach him how to play it.
Disclaimer: The Octonauts belong to Meomi and CBeebies. Icarus, Argos, and any other noncanon material are my own original creations.
Don't forget to hit me up on Ko-Fi for commissions!

I think it’s interesting how they’re both Y7 but have completely diff views

Nobody asked but my thoughts about these are below + a clip from a wk episode about it
Octonauts’ setting is a double edged sword- because they give every organism a voice, they can make people empathize with bacteria, coral, and other things people forget to see as living beings. However, that also means they portray consumers/predators as the bad guys, even when they try not to have a bias. Which means for when the urchins had to be eaten, they couldn’t be portrayed as alive (or at least at the same level of consciousness as other animals).
For the record, I do think their setting of making every animal talk is good for helping others understand issues a species might face, especially for man-made causes like pollution and climate change which the show covers. it’s definitely something I think should be taught bc I still know a lot of people my age or older who end up mistreating animals simply because they don’t communicate in the same way we do.
On the flip side, Wk uses predator/prey relationships to show off the different abilities an animal has. I was honestly very surprised with how they handled the topic of death? For a couple animals, their life cycle is taught by following a particular individual of the species, from the start of their journey to the day they die. And even though they passed on, their offspring can continue the journey their parents started. I think that’s a good way to look at it imo. Every animal has a role, and even in death their life is not wasted. They even bring up the fact it can be dangerous to be a predator, since prey animals have developed a bunch of defense mechanisms, and losing to those could mean dying. I’m glad they cover death along with life, and they handle it well considering it’s a tricky subject esp for a younger audience. I think it can be summarized well in this clip from the king cobra episode
They also touch on it in the episode where kid musky is introduced (forgot the name but Chris basically goes on a monologue abt the human perspective on prey/predator relationships and how hard it can be to watch. I thought that was neat)
That being said: I do think sometimes the deaths are a little mean, and the fact they’re so comfortable with it after s1 sort of gives you a shock when you remember the rating. Like we JUST met and named the snake in the clip and then bro dies🫡 not to mention the life cycle episodes getting us attached to an animal for 22 minutes and then they die at the end. Juice’s death was even played for comedic effect (at least I think it was. It made me laugh. Maybe that’s just me LMAO)
TLDR: both methods are good for diff aspects of wildlife education but I think wk handles it in a better way esp when they consider the fact that humans are outsiders to it. Send post
