unpopular opinion but i dont want to know what the characters canonically look like in books from illustrations

#if i see another cover with the characters faces on it i will bite #im reading a book specifically cause i wanna use my own imagination and tailor the features to my own memories and experiences #a written description is enough theres no need to also have an illustration on the cover #make a graphic novel if you want to declare that clearly what everyone looks like #the best part of the book is how muddy everything is #you can fill in the gaps yourself #instead of simply looking you have to imagine #making it the most subjective medium of entertainment #its the reason i also dont like audiobooks dont tell me what they sound like ill imagine it myself #not even a narrator! the narrator is me!!#this is about carry on by rainbow rowel btw #the first book didnt have a face on it and i enjoyed it #but the later ones do and i really dont want them on my shelf for this reason #i understand its for fanart cultivation reasons but man. at least have an alt cover

ive been thinking about the thousand year old loli trope lately and how the undeveloped brain would go with the wisdom. cause shell never age meaning her brain will never fully develop meaning she cant use her wisdom properly cause things like planning and decision making are some of the last areas to develop. she would have all those experiences and memories but she cant make the connections to take advantage of them. she would never be able to experience adulthood and the freedom that comes with it. she would always rely on others to make decisions for her as the ones she makes on her own are to her detriment. she would never learn from her mistakes. she would never develop problem-solving skills. she would never grow.

#ofc the younger she is the worse time shell be having #the biggest benefit of immortality is that you can infinetly grow and live new things #you dont have a timer you dont have to fear death #but in a sense shes already dead #cause unlike adults who can form new pathways and develop their brain skills #shes stuck in the inbetween #she Knows things but she cant make the necessary pathways to use them herself #and ofc she would be stuck at whatever emotional maturity shes at with teen being the worse #the thousand year old loli makes me sad if anything #cause its the one time you cant use your immortality properly and it feels more like a curse #idk if ive ever seen it explored like that anywhere #but id like to #i have an oc who died and is stuck at 13 forever making her the youngest of her group #so ive been thinking how shed feel about it
