Astra and Alex have been dating for a year, and lately she's been withdrawn from Kara, and is too exhausted to even spend time with Alex.
She has been having nightmares at 3am on the dot every night since the beginning of the month. Now, on their one year anniversary she has cooked a nice dinner and gotten this 'terminator' movie that Kara says Alex loves so much.
She texts Alex asking if she's going to be off of work soon, and awaits for her to arrive home, trying her hardest to stay awake. Though just in case Alex isn't home soon she has written a letter that explained she had been having nightmares and had taken to sleeping in the guest bedroom because of them. There is a sound proof machine outside of the door so Alex wouldn't hear her screaming from the nightmares.
Though Astra doesn't want to sleep alone anymore, and ends up putting the DVD in but not playing it, waiting for Alex. She falls asleep sitting in a chair with her head on the kitchen island and her cellphone in her right hand.

She sighs. "It's unlocked." She says loud enough for the other to hear. Though she needs to get up off the floor, she doesn't feel like it.
Looking at the floor and curling up into herself, she starts to cry again.
@leapfirst
It's strange to no longer be in a cell. Strange to be given a second chance. Astra still hasn't forgiven herself for what she's done, and feels like she's not worthy of a second chance. Luckily, she and Alex had become friends, though Astra's spirit had long been broken. She's timid and scared, staying inside her apartment all day. Astra lay in bed awake and unmoving. Depressed and crying quietly into her pillow. She had left Alex's apartment to no longer be a burden to her, instead using an abandoned apartment that's brand new.
She's laying on the floor curled up. She didn't bother to get any furniture or food. Her cellphone remains unchecked of calls and messages. Why didn't they just kill her?

"That word doesn't mean what you think it means."
The woman looks at the other, a little confused, but also concern written on her face. "Did I accidentally say something offensive? Because if I did I'm sorry."

"That...wasn't what I had in mind."
Astra raised her eyebrow and looked at her. "What did you have in mind, then?"

"I don't think I have the heart of a hero." She says, looking at her. She used to think that, but doesn't anymore.
"I don't even deserve to be on this world." She scoffs at herself, looking back down. Deciding not to be in the bar anymore she pays for both of their drinks and leaves, but not before telling Cat to have a good rest of her night.
noblexgeneral:
“She gets the caring and justice gene from me and her mother. She has the heart of a hero.” It’s true. “Not as bad as I thought it was.” She turns to look at the woman completely. She’s beautiful, now that she’s actually looking at her.
“Does she ever give up trying to help those that are older than her?”
“Oh, so you think you have the heart of a hero, then?” A hum, because Kara certainly embodies the heart of a hero, Cat’s never had a doubt. Though she doesn’t speak on it. Or the fact that they’re in an alien bar, instead taking a long sip of her martini, “She never gives up trying to help anyone. It doesn’t matter the age.” Her thumb swirls along the edge of the glass, nodding, dropping the olive pick back inside of it, “She reminds me of myself. Not–” Her hand waves, “Just for shoving her nose where it doesn’t belong. Oh, no, I’ve made a career out of that–and oh, no, certainly not for her heart. But because I think she’s spent far too long assuming that fixing the world’s problems will fix her own. Hopefully, one day she’ll figure out that it won’t. And maybe her aunt will discover that sitting outside of the world won’t fix her own. Not that I care,” It’s pointed–casual– “What either of you do.”

To say meeting her neice's boss was awkward is an understatement. It was agonizing. She only said hello and shook the blonde Human's hand out of politeness and shyness, not even making eye contact.
To be introduced as her biological aunt just hurt even more. She didn't stay at the woman's office, just left without excusing herself or without an explanation. She knew Kara was trying to set her up with the woman, though whether it was an apology, an attempt to find her a girlfriend that will help her gain her confidence back, or both, she doesn't know. She just went to the alien bar and got drunk to get rid of the pain, at least for a little while.

"Mm. She got that from me." A hint of a smile is on her face. "Though it's not as cute as it was when she was a little kid." It's kind of annoying, but she can't say no to her neice for long. "She's been trying to get me out of my apartment for three weeks. Today I just relented so she'd stop texting me at seven in the morning."
She hates how she couldn't be there for Kara when she was growing up here, but she's not ready to talk about that subject yet. It's too soon.

Astra can't seem to catch a break. She just wanted to be alone today, yet her neice dragged her out of her nice apartment just to introduce her to her boss. And she sighed and went along with it, not in the mood to argue.
By the time the other woman sits near her, she lets out a defeated sigh. A nod is given when Cat asks if she's nursing wounds. "A lot, actually." She takes another sip and looks at the woman slightly. "Did Kara send you to find me?" It's a curious question, but also one of concern.

She had been imprisoned in a tiny, 6x9 solitary confinement cell for two years, for what she had almost done, and she has regretted doing it even though it was for the right reason. She cared about the environment, cared about the wildlife, cared about life in general, no matter the species. But apparently being a warlady, a general, and an activist don't mix. She had been betrayed by not only her sister, but by the Council of Krypton. They had Zor-El make a virus that would wipe out any non-Kryptonian being, which, while still not used, wasn't considered a crime, whereas she was willing to do whatever it took to save her niece and the rest of Krypton. The only exception was no killing.
She had stayed there until she was moved to a semi-regular cell with a security camera after being put on suicide watch. Her current cell is tinier than her last one.
She doesn't look up when she hears the door of the room she's in open, and a tray of food is slid under her door of her 6x8 cell.
She only pushes it back under the cell door. "I'm not hungry. I know my food has been drugged every time I eat. Just leave me alone and let me die. I'm already dying from Kryptonite poisoning anyway, not like any of you care." She scoots to a corner of her cell and turns her back to whoever came in, laying down and curling up into a ball to keep warm.
Silent tears roll down her face as she starts to shake from being cold. The only thing there was to do in both of her cells was to sleep, use the bathroom, wash her hands, or stare at the wall. Her previous cell didn't have a window or a light in it.
At least in this one she has a light, though it's seperate from the other regular cells. No window. She has extremely suffered from not being out of her cell at least an hour a day as stated by law on Earth. She now has anxiety and panic attacks. She had suffered from hallucinations of everything that happened on Krypton, thinking she had died on her homeplanet and completely forgotten that she was on Earth. She even suffers from paranoia because of her food having been previously drugged. She doesn't like being touched and is angry when she is.
She had the strength to stay strong and stable while imprisoned in Fort Rozz, but her spirit has long been broken by the amount of time she's been in DEO custody.
