Folks have got to understand that they probably aren't messed up by some Secret Big Trauma that they just can't remember; but rather by a million tiny microtraumas that they do mostly remember but don't even register as traumatic because nobody actually understood that these things would cause trauma, much less stack on each other over the years.

I used to hate soda, but now, I have a crippling addiction to Mexican Coca-Cola. Not sponsored. Idk how I even got to this point, I don't even have the pro-soda autism I'm just wondering if this is character development, and if so, is it in a positive or negative direction?

The Clone of DIO: Daniel Brando.
Tumblr media
Basics: Name: Daniel Dio Brando. Age: 19. Date of Birth: October 11th, 1992. Sign: Libra. Zodiac: Dog. Height: 6'1. Name Inspirations: Daniel from the Bible, Dio the rockband and rocker, and Marlon Brando the actor. Voice Claims: Jonah Scott. (Eng) Takehito Koyasu (JP.) Favorite Song: Princes of the Universe by Queen. Favorite Movie: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The basic concept behind Daniel is the idea of the Green Baby actually being given a chance to be human. The scheme was that Father Pucci manipulated his brother Enrico to let his wife Rio carry the baby, essentially imitating Mary and Jesus in a way.
Appearance:
A lankier, more softer looking version of his template Dio Brando, Daniel has long flowing blond hair and burning brown eyes that're softer than his 'father's' eyes. He often wears suits and a pair of ray-ban sunglasses. (Changed to cheaper clothing and regular sunglasses after he escapes Pucci's care.) He likes to tie his hair back in ponytails.
When he was younger he'd wear smaller suits and tend to be far more orderly and clean. He only allows his mother Rio to situate his hair.
He also tends to wear baggier clothing when he doesn't have to wear suits, liking how comfortable they are and easy to slip out of if he has to. In the His Holy Messenger Church vestments they're flowing and regal, but he still wears his sunglasses as its part of their beliefs that the Miracle Child cannot look directly at them.
Because of his unique circumstances leading to his birth, he is half vampire and when he's under the thrall of his power becomes more fearsome looking and gains sharp nails and fangs.
Personality:
Unlike his template, Daniel grew up a meek and quiet little boy who trusted his 'father' Enrico Pucci, and his 'mother' Rio. Pucci would encourage the worse traits in Dio's personality and refer to Daniel as Dio, while Rio would encourage his kinder sides and refer to him as Daniel.
Daniel shares his template's desire for power, but changed it to freedom after figuring out he was to be the second coming of an awful man. He's known to have deep affection for his mother and wants to see the world outside the compound walls. He seems very defensive about people seeing his bare body and tends to take long showers.
It's implied that Pucci used corporal punishment against Daniel to sometimes extremes. He's also terrified of Hell and eternity away from his loved ones. He's terrified of being abandoned or alone, begging his friends to stay with him even at the slightest disappointment.
In his pursuit of Freedom from his destiny, he doesn't care deeply about anyone but those he's closest with like Loredana, The Man In Black, and Mack. He also shares his template's charisma and Single-minded vengeful nature. Like when he beat Andrew Stone and America, Fuck Yeah! close to death for pickpocketing him or calming down Mack when his fear of death made him terrified to confront Elvis who had turned into a vampire to remain the King and rectify his pathetic death. (Despite his own fear.)
Although he has traces of Dio's personality, Daniel is much softer and more kind to people in general. He doesn't like to use his Stand against people unless they harm him or his friends, or get in the way of his goals.
He's intensely curious about the world around him, always running off to see what interests him and that often gets him in trouble.
When it comes to romantic relationships, Daniel tends to let his partner lead and he'll follow. Especially when it comes to more headstrong partners. His lack of confidence and fear of pain prevent him from taking the leap though.
When it comes to his half-vampire state, he's terrified of it. Upon the drinking of fresh blood he essentially loses all control of himself and his strength increases. Other than being in a berserk state, Daniel doesn't like what it makes him do.
Stand:
Stand Name: Sacred Heart.
Stand Name Inspiration: Dio song of the same name.
Stand Type: Natural Humanoid, Close Range.
Appearance: A sleeping humanoid stand that seems to just float idly near Daniel. It wears gold, armor-like kingly vestments and rests with its eyes closed. This regal stand seems to be mummy-like and bound up, but it contains immense potential and power.
Stand Ability: Sacred Heart can alter the state of time of any object it touches, reverting them to their condition in times past or accelerating them to the condition gravity demands they will end up in. So, for example, he could revert a rusty old sword to its original polish or accelerate his own clothes to see where he'll be struck in an oncoming fight and know to defend those spots.
Stats:
Destructive Power: A.
Speed: A
Range: C.
Durability: C.
Potential: A.
As his story unfolds, Sacred Heart is revealed to be a chrysalis of some sort of power that can change the world as we know it. If its a power that can save or end the world remains to be seen...
Feel free to ask questions about him, I'm willing to answer any that you might have! I also have other OCs I can share too!

You’ve heard of “don’t monetize your hobbies”; get ready for "don’t master your hobbies".
Your hobbies are here to help you decompress and have fun. They do not have to be disciplines you toil over for expertise, unless that is something you genuinely enjoy doing.
It’s okay to enjoy language-learning without ever becoming fluent, or even conversational. It’s okay to like playing guitar even if you only know a few clumsy songs. You can read books and never finish them, bowl without ever scoring even halfway to perfect. We’re here to explore and play, and we cannot do that if we’re chasing perfection in everything we do.

Ways to Write a Meaningful AO3 Comment…
…or frankly, a comment on any writing or artwork where your primary goal is to encourage and appreciate the creator.
It occurs to me that comments are a mini writing task, I have been a writing tutor, and if I’m going to ramble about how not to form communities and have meaningful interactions on the internet, I could maybe also help make it a little easier.
This post is written on the assumption that people want to interact, but struggle for whatever reason: nervous, tired, didn’t realize comments meant that much, can’t think of what to say. I myself spent years at a time on ao3 not commenting on literally anything—something about stones in glass houses. But in my experience, while getting comments on my own fics is kind of my favourite, leaving the kind of comment I know I would cherish—and sometimes getting replies from authors replying to my comments and actually chatting with them—is pretty damn magical too.
In that spirit, this post is henceforth a how-to, not an argument, and I’m not going to address anything to do with bad faith comments. I’m gonna try and provide some structures and simple formats to start comments from. I cannot emphasise enough, these are all intended to be used from a place of sincerity. Tools for finding and formatting the appreciation which is already in your brain, just hiding from you.
That said, we’re gonna take this in stages—
1. The Chapter Kudos
“Chapter kudos,” a little “<3,” an “I loved this,” or similar simple expressions of warmth and enthusiasm, slapped on a oneshot or each chapter of a long fic. These are a nice small gesture that lets the author know you’re here and you’re still loving the fic. Not every author is in love with the these type of very short comments, but unless they have a specific note about it, they’re almost certainly glad for the knowledge you’re still reading. This is minimal—great for days or weeks when you’re tired, low effort, can’t think of shit to say about a particular chapter, and so on. Comments, like all tasks, must be allowed to vary in intensity with available energy and time.
2. The 1-2 sentences
A one or two sentence comment. Here, a combination of a general compliment: “this was amazing,” and a specific compliment: “character A’s dialogue felt so realistic” works really well.
General compliments are typically easier to come up with:
What an awesome chapter!
Wow ok I did not see that coming—
I fucking. Love. Your writing.
This was so exciting!
I screamed when I saw this updated
Maybe a little over the top, but you get the idea—it’s hard to go wrong with these.
Specific compliments are often a little harder to come up with, but they generally fall into two categories which are both wonderful: content and writing.
Content includes things like:
I love [character] so much, seeing them in [particular situation] was so fun
Wow there’s so little content for [niche fandom/character/ship/trope] it’s great to see it here
Your idea about [authors headcanon] is so smart—that makes [weird element of canon] make so much sense
I didn’t used to be into [trope/ship] but holy fuck am I convinced now
The point being you’re noting a particular element content of the fic—what and who it’s about—that you loved. These are great because getting really damn excited about a character/trope/headcanon etcetera, really is the heart of fandom.
Writing takes a slightly different tack, and talks about the author’s writing skills—what they do well:
You write such good dialogue, it feels really realistic
Your action scenes are so exciting!
The tone of this chapter was so perfectly creepy—the way you describe [setting/character] gave me the shivers
The spacing you used really fit the piece—it’s a neat way to show the character’s mindset there they’re struggling to think clearly
The combination of a general and specific compliment can make it easier to start writing your comment, while giving you a second to think of your specific thought. It’s simple, but it means a lot to get any kind of specific comment, because it shows the author that you are paying attention to their writing and that you appreciate or relate to them, specifically. These comments are fairly quick to write, but can mean so much.
3. The paragraph
Several sentences long, with a bit more room to explain what you loved. Everything from the 1-2 sentence section applies here too. A general compliment is still a great starting point, and specific compliments are still where we want to end up. The main difference is you’ve got a little more room to talk, and you can take that in a few different directions.
You can talk about one specific compliment for a bit:
I love the way you write dialogue—character A saying “[quote]” was exactly what they would say in that situation. And their banter with character B was incredible, i laughed out loud. The way they both use cursing, but in slightly different ways is fascinating. The way character B does it is…
Or you can go through several different ones quickly:
I love the way you write dialogue—character A saying “[quote]” was exactly what they would say in that situation. The fast dialogue kept the pace up and the whole chapter was so exciting—I loved that you brought up character B and character C’s relationship too, it gets so little attention but I love it…
There’s also room for wider observations and questions (these can also totally go in 1-2 sentence comments, it’s just easier to have a little more substance around them):
Your writing always makes me feel so [feelings]
Wait I’m a little confused did [event] happen the way I think it did, or am I being silly?
Your ideas about [character] are awesome, I love everything you’ve written about them.
I’m so curious, what’s your specific lore on [character/event]?
4. Multiparagraph
Several paragraphs, or a very long paragraph. Hot damn, the author is in love with you now. Either you’ve got a whole lot to say about one specific topic of writing or content, or you’ve got a couple of different topics you want to pay some attention to—as you start writing your comment, you’ll probably discover a few more. Let yourself ramble, make bullet points, just get your thoughts out, if you have this many. All the principles from before apply: general compliments, specific compliments, wider observations, questions—all of these can easily feature in a long comment.
5. Fuck Formating
Write comments in whatever format works for you. Bullet points, google translated into the necessary language, rambling, well organized, short, long, emojis, copy-pasting your favorite quote from the fic with an exclamation point, pre-formatted general compliments, whatever will get your thoughts and enthusiasm down.
If you are communicating, the format doesn’t matter all that much. The same information from a multi paragraph comment can be done in bullet points or by quoting. Whatever communication you do will be meaningful to the author.
It’s hard to go wrong—
Like most writing, making meaningful comments and picking out those specific compliments gets easier with practice. There’s no need to write multiparagraph comments all the time. Those 1-2 sentence ones can be full of so much love, and chapter kudos are sometimes all there’s energy for.
The most important writing advice ever in my opinion is this: you have interesting things to say. About yourself, about the world, about writing, about that damn fanfic.
Go forth and use the structures above, or come up with comments I couldn’t even dream of. Whatever you do, you will find fic authors are probably the most willing and grateful audience in the whole world.

a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:
-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings
-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)
-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)
-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)
-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same
-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well
-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped
-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt
-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians
-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be
-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia
-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that
-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told
-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions
-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect
-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think
greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

Class 1-A Shenanigans (My Hero Academia)
Koyurei Todoroki, the Shining Flame Hero: Enavant, is tired of being a hero. Being the replacement for his older brother and living the life he doesn't want to live makes things harder to live in general. Luckily, he's got something to live for. Will he end up with his happy ending with the R18 Heroine Midnight? Or will he still be under his father Enji's thumb? Scarred, traumatized, and not having any idea what to do... Koyurei has to figure out who he is and what he has to do to heal. Nemuri Kayama took a chance on Koyurei Todoroki, the shy and quiet man she knows a far cry from the confident and unstoppable hero. But that's just the world around them, right? A story of two people who just drift into each other one night at a bar. Now sharing a life neither one of them expected to live.
Feel free to tell me what you all think! It's been my baby for quite a while and I wanted to share it here.

the curve
somehow ive found myself in a position where folks come to chuck in times of strife for encouragement. lets get the big part of this conversation out of the way LOVE IS STILL REAL and that is the thing to remember. that north star remains. today there is more to talk about though
existence pushes towards love community and freedom, because CREATION is what we were built to do and creation thrives with these things as fuel. IT GETS BETTER. LOVE IS REAL. however this change comes in up and down waves. its not a straight line and should not be expected to be
some of these waves are short and small, and some of the slopes are years or decades long. there is no mincing words here, we are entering a massive downward wave. the implications are huge and it is okay to mourn that. FEEL THOSE FEELINGS. it is an important part of the ride
the most telling sign post on our slope is this: tromp won the popular vote (or likely will when the votes are done). we can talk POLITICAL STRATEGY all day about electoral college or who should court the center or the left and on and on but ultimately THIS is the real story
to me it signals a TRUE cultural shift. likely conservatives will have presidency, senate, house, and supreme court. WHAT A GIANT SLOPE. HOLD THE HECK ON because we will be riding it for a while, deep into the pit of the void. hold your buds tight, prove love at the local level
but heres the thing, MASSIVE waves have happened before. theyll happen again. mind numbing slopes into the abyss and great soaring leaps into the sky. in fact the inertia almost ALWAYS causes them to happen right after each other. hippies or punks back in the day, buckaroos now
politically we were trapped in a basically fifty fifty trot for a long time, but it was not always like this (just look at old election maps what the heck). to be honest, tromps map looks like one of those old maps right now. and DANG did COUNTER MOVEMENTS blooms from those times
in other words, THERE WILL BE A COUNTER CULTURE MOVEMENT THAT WE HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE IN OUR LIFETIMES. you are now a rebel for the resistance and the wave that will swing back towards love will awe us in ways we cannot even imagine yet.
but for now, feel those feelings, mourn, prove love, stay safe. do not let the hope i am espousing feel like a distraction from the very real, even deadly consequences of the terrible pit we are plummeting into. it is a horrible day, and FUTURE HOPE does not diminish that, BUT
get ready because that counter culture wave is coming and YOU are a part of it. if you want to shout HECK OFF DEVILS then shout it LOUD, if you want to cry then cry HARD, if you want to love then love with your WHOLE HEART. thats the start of the movement that we dont know yet
when that movement takes shape we will feel the inertia of the curve and it may make us sick from the rollercoaster turn, and that pressure will be uncomfortable and scary, but THEN buckaroo, we will soar, and ill be so dang glad to be holding on tight with you when we do
