unpopular opinion abt the ‘Lark vs Sparrow is Normal’s biological parent’ ‘discourse’ is that i don’t care. i don’t think it matters to the story at all. Sparrow raised both Normal and Hero as their father and Lark was in their lives as their uncle and which one actually impregnated Rebecca in either case doesn’t matter to me at all. do you see what i mean.

I'm copy pasting some tags I just left on someone else's post cos I don't want them lost to the void cos I've been thinking about this forever without making a post.

Jodie is such a tragic character & I have SO many feelings about him. Don't get me wrong I love Glenn so much, but his story tends to over shadow what happened to Jodie, and what happened to Jodie is so sad and such a great foil¹ to Glenn.

Picture this: you are a demon. You have a mother you love. You're doing your thing, when someone traps you in a guitar strips you of your home and family.

Eventually the vessel you're trapped in ends up in the hands of the government. They wipe you of your memories‚ send you back in time to another world‚ to punish a man you have nothing to do with. Used as a tool for the state against your will.

You find a wife & have kid‚ and even thou it was predetermined‚ it's real to you and you love them both deeply.

One day you, 4 other guys & your kids get zapped into another world. There is tension between you and the other dads plus that weird uncle‚ but you're willing to call them your friends because what you've been thru together.

Then after staying back to protect both their kids and your own‚ they show up again with no memory of what you've been thru together, to every horrible thing you've been thru together. They have no recollection, claim your kid isn't yours, and on top of that don't trust you at all. You have to deal with the fact that the life you've led for like the last 35 - 40 years wasn't your own but it felt like it. That you have a mother you dont remember. That your friends dont remember you. That your son cant remember who HE is.

You keep having ur life taken from you over and over and over again. For the crime of what? existing? It's not fair.

HEADS UP: I assume you saw the last update before this one, expect follow up on that and the fighting won’t stop there. For fight scenes going forward, expect something in the area of popular shonen. No guts falling out, and probably no chopping off any limbs but like… you listen to this podcast! probably! we’re gonna get rowdy. it’s dungeons and dragons. anyhoo.

Finally a woman in this comic and she has to be in a scene with Willy.

Sorry it took a month longer than expected, forgot to account for 6 pages of color. Anyway we’re back! and we’re going back to our boys next time and going back to less background for meeeeeeeeee thank youuuuuuuuu. Luckily at least I could limit myself to the same kind of methodology I’ve been drawing the other backgrounds with, there’s just more that has to there cause it’s not just a forest its like, a persons house. which could absolutely have been filled with more things but then it would have been 2023 by the time you got this update so screw that. also yes the details of her house do change between panels yes it’s intentional yes it saved me.

the other thing I guess I’ll address here is spoilers. The comic takes place kinda mid-episode 62 and so, mostly for funsies, will not outright spoil anything after that. Wizened readers know exactly what Willy threatened Tilt with, anyone somehow reading this before finishing season 1 will not. Further on this note, certain revelations provided by season 2 will not be changing this comic! That’s not to say this comic is going to go against season 2. Season 2 absolutely is going to inform more than 1 upcoming scene, but only in the way of characterization. This takes place well before season 2 and so can’t outright reference season 2 events, but characters who appear in season 2 which also appear here can absolutely be informed in their writing here by their future behavior (or re-contextualized current behavior).

Gigachad Hc: Hero is Lark’s kid, her full name is Heron, and Sparrow kept with his father’s naming scheme in hopes of bringing the family together

Galaxybrain Hc: Sparrow was drunk at the time and Hero is still short for Heron, but Heron is a slurred “Hi I’m Ron”
